Allarity Therapeutics Receives Australian Patent Acceptance Notice for Stenoparib DRP® Companion Diagnostic
The acceptance covers 40 claims and marks a key step in Allarity's global strategy to protect the potential international commercialization of its proprietary DRP® platform alongside the clinical development of stenoparib. The granted patent will be officially advertised in the Australian Official Journal of Patents on June 26, 2025, followed by a three-month opposition period. If unopposed, the patent is expected to be granted within 20 working days thereafter.
Thomas Jensen, CEO of Allarity Therapeutics, commented: 'This latest patent acceptance from Australia represents another important achievement in our efforts to secure international IP protection for our DRP® technology. As we continue advancing stenoparib through Phase 2 trials toward U.S. regulatory approval, we are also building a robust intellectual property position in key global markets.'
Allarity previously secured a European patent for the Stenoparib DRP® and holds 18 granted patents for drug-specific DRPs, including eight in the United States. Patent applications for the Stenoparib DRP® remain pending in the U.S., Canada, Japan, China, and India.
About Stenoparib
Stenoparib is an orally available, small-molecule dual-targeted inhibitor of PARP1/2 and tankyrase 1/2. At present, tankyrases are attracting significant attention as emerging therapeutic targets for cancer, principally due to their role in regulating the WNT signaling pathway. Aberrant WNT/β-catenin signaling has been implicated in the development and progression of numerous cancers. By inhibiting PARP and blocking WNT pathway activation, stenoparib's unique therapeutic action shows potential as a promising therapeutic for many cancer types, including ovarian cancer. Allarity has secured exclusive global rights for the development and commercialization of stenoparib, which was originally developed by Eisai Co. Ltd. and was formerly known under the names E7449 and 2X-121.
About the Drug Response Predictor – DRP® Companion Diagnostic
Allarity uses its drug-specific DRP® to select those patients who, by the gene expression signature of their cancer, may have a high likelihood of benefiting from a specific drug. By screening patients before treatment, and only treating those patients with a sufficiently high, drug-specific DRP score, the therapeutic benefit rate may be enhanced. The DRP method builds on the comparison of sensitive vs. resistant human cancer cell lines, including transcriptomic information from cell lines, combined with clinical tumor biology filters and prior clinical trial outcomes. DRP is based on messenger RNA expression profiles from patient biopsies. The DRP® platform has shown an ability to provide a statistically significant prediction of the clinical outcome from drug treatment in cancer patients across dozens of clinical studies (both retrospective and prospective). The DRP platform, which may be useful in all cancer types and is patented for dozens of anti-cancer drugs, has been extensively published in the peer-reviewed literature.

BHP inks charter contracts with COSCO for ammonia dual-fuelled vessels
SINGAPORE (Reuters) -Australia's BHP Group has signed contracts with China's COSCO Shipping for the charter of two ammonia dual-fuelled Newcastlemax bulk carriers, the mining giant said on Wednesday. The two vessels are expected to be delivered from 2028 and will be charted for five years. They will mainly be used to transport iron ore from Western Australia to Northeast Asia. These vessels can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50 per cent and up to 95 per cent on a per-voyage basis compared to a conventionally-fuelled voyage, if they run on lower or low-to-zero GHG emissions ammonia, according to BHP. The mining giant previously told Reuters that it plans to receive its first ammonia-fuelled bulk carrier from 2026 as part of the company's plans to cut shipping emissions. Ammonia is among several alternative fuels that shippers are exploring to cut carbon emissions, though adoption will take time to scale up. Domino's Australia Shares Sink as CEO Plans Exit After One Year
(Bloomberg) -- Shares of Domino's Pizza Enterprises Ltd. tumbled to their lowest since 2013 after the company said Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Mark van Dyck will step down after just one year in the role. Struggling Downtowns Are Looking to Lure New Crowds Sprawl Is Still Not the Answer California Exempts Building Projects From Environmental Law The stock fell as much as 26% in Sydney on Wednesday after the Brisbane, Australia-based company said Van Dyck will leave in December. Billionaire fast food magnate Jack Cowin has been appointed interim executive chairman effective immediately, according to an exchange statement. 'This announcement is a surprise and adds to the uncertainty' at a time when Domino's is attempting to reset its business, Morgan Stanley analysts wrote in a note. The departure comes after an overhaul of the firm's global leadership in the past year. Van Dyck succeeded CEO and Managing Director Don Meij, who had been with Domino's for almost 40 years, in November. Cowin is the company's biggest shareholder and was already its chairman. He is also the chairman and managing director of CFAL Group, operator of the Hungry Jack's chain, which holds the master franchise for Burger King in Australia. The board is undertaking a global search process for a new group CEO, it said in a statement. Van Dyck oversaw the closure of 205 underperforming stores in Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. 'With a clear strategy and strong team in place, I believe the time will be right at the end of this calendar year to hand over to the next CEO,' Van Dyck said in the statement. The company's ANZ CEO Kerri Hayman will step down in August, it said in May.
