WNBA Legend Shares Regret About Caitlin Clark
Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark is quickly becoming the face of the WNBA, making a leaguewide impact on and off the court. She is averaging 18.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 8.9 assists per game this season, as her Fever squad sits at 7-7, third in the Eastern Conference.

Seattle Storm legend Lauren Jackson enjoyed an illustrious 12-year WNBA career, winning championships in 2004 and 2010, collecting three MVP awards and earning seven All-Star selections.
From 2001 to 2012, she averaged 18.9 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists over 317 games. Internationally, she represented Australia in multiple Olympic Games, earning four medals, including one gold.
On Wednesday, Olgun Uluc of ESPN Australia hosted Jackson for an interview ahead of the WNBA Rising Stars Invitational, where she'll coach among a staff of basketball greats.

Aside from her upcoming coaching opportunity, Jackson also discussed whom she most enjoys watching in today's WNBA, describing her favorite aspects of that player's game.

"Who is everyone enjoying watching? Caitlin Clark," she said.
More than just a fan, Jackson expressed a sense of regret over not getting to share the court with the rising star.
"All I know is I'm just a huge fan. Man, I would have loved to have played with her," she said. "You know, as a point guard with that much vision and awareness, like, I've just never seen anything like it."
Uluc followed up by asking what parts Jackson specifically likes about Clark's game, to which Jackson didn't hesitate to answer.
"I love her intensity," Jackson said. "I love that, obviously, she's a young player and still has so much, you know, development ahead of her. But I think her smarts, the way she reads the game, the way she passes the ball, the way she shoots the ball; she can get to the basket, you know, change her pace."

Another important aspect of this deal for Jaren Jackson Jr. is that there is a player option for the final year of his contract in 2029-30. Jackson Jr. was one of the best players in college basketball during his time at Michigan State, and his freak athleticism and length has transferred over to the NBA well. Jackson Jr. was immediately an impact player for the Grizzlies when he joined the team in 2018 after being the fourth overall pick in the draft. He has averaged double figures during all seven seasons of his career, and he hasn't averaged below 20 points per game since the 2022-23 season. Not only is Jackson Jr. a force on the offensive end, but his defensive abilities make him an incredibly valuable player. He can guard just about anyone because of his unique skillset, and his high level of play on that end of the floor earned him Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2023. They were able to sign Ja Morant's co-star, Jaren Jackson Jr., to a five-year, $240 million contract, but the forward suffered a foot injury earlier this week. The team's doctors examined the injury and determined that their young star requires a procedure. Luckily for the team, Jackson Jr. will make a complete recovery, but it could take up to three months. Unfortunately, there is no timetable for the former Defensive Player of the Year's return. Foot injuries are dangerous among basketball players, especially when big men suffer them. The injury comes at an inopportune time for the Grizzlies. Kleiman gave Jackson Jr. the maximum extension he was looking for. The Grizzlies committed almost a quarter of a billion dollars in to the seven-year pro. It is the biggest contract the team has ever offered to a player. Jackson Jr. became Memphis' leader over the course of the season as Morant struggled with injuries. Head coach Tomas Iisalo lost his point guard during the first round against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the postseason after a hip injury knocked the Grizzlies point guard out of the game.
