Mistral comes out swinging for enterprise AI customers with new Le Chat Enterprise, Medium 3 model
French AI startup Mistral has raised boatloads of private funding but has yet to crack the top AI usage charts globally, especially when it comes to enterprise and developer adoption.
But that may change starting today: The company just unveiled Le Chat Enterprise, a unified AI assistant platform designed for enterprise-scale productivity and privacy, powered by its new Medium 3 model that outperforms larger ones at a fraction of the cost (here, 'larger' refers to the number of parameters, or internal model settings, which typically denote more complexity and more powerful capabilities, but also take more compute resources such as GPUs to run).
Available on the web and via mobile apps, Le Chat Enterprise is like a ChatGPT competitor, but one built specifically for enterprises and their employees, taking into account the fact that they'll likely be working across a suite of different applications and data sources.
It's designed to consolidate AI functionality into a single, privacy-first environment that enables deep customization, cross-functional workflows, and rapid deployment.
Among its key features that will be of interest to business owners and technical decision makers are:

Designed for enterprise use, the model delivers more than 90% of the benchmark performance of Claude 3.7 Sonnet, but at one-eighth the cost—$0.40 per million input tokens and $20.80 per million output tokens, compared to Sonnet's $3/$15 for input/output.
Benchmarks show that Mistral Medium 3 is particularly strong in software development tasks. In coding tests like HumanEval and MultiPL-E, it matches or surpasses both Claude 3.7 Sonnet and OpenAI's GPT-4o models.
According to third-party human evaluations, it outperforms Llama 4 Maverick in 82% of coding scenarios and exceeds Command-A in nearly 70% of cases.
The model also performs competitively across languages and modalities. Compared to Llama 4 Maverick, it has higher win rates in English (67%), French (71%), Spanish (73%), and Arabic (65%), and leads in multimodal performance with notable scores in tasks like DocVQA (0.953), AI2D (0.937), and ChartQA (0.826).
Mistral Medium 3 is optimized for enterprise integration. It supports hybrid and on-premises deployment, offers custom post-training, and connects easily to business systems. According to Mistral, it's already being used in beta by organizations in sectors such as financial services, energy, and healthcare to power domain-specific workflows and customer-facing solutions.
Mistral Medium 3 is now accessible via Mistral's La Plateforme API and Amazon Sagemaker, with support coming soon to IBM WatsonX, NVIDIA NIM, Azure AI Foundry, and Google Cloud Vertex.
Meanwhile, Le Chat Enterprise is available in the Google Cloud Marketplace, and will launch shortly on Azure AI and AWS Bedrock.

President Donald Trump not only dropped the document but also confused the U.S. trading partner it was with while announcing an agreement had been finalized with the United Kingdom on Monday. The president revealed the United States had signed a previously announced deal with the U.K. while standing alongside British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the G7 Summit in Canada. But when the president held up the folder with the document, pages tumbled to the ground, and Starmer ended up having to reach down to pick the papers up as Trump looked on. The 79-year-old president then proceeded to say that the agreement was with the European Union rather than the U.K. 'We just signed a document. This is—sorry about that,' Trump said as the papers hit the ground. 'Very important document,' Starmer chimed in with a smile as he picked the pages up. Both men laughed as the president joked it was a little windy there, though it did not appear to be wind that forced the pages from his grasp. 'We just signed it, and it's done, and so we have our trade agreement with the European Union, and it's a fair deal for both,' Trump then said, mixing up the U.K. with the EU. Neither leader revealed any details on what was in the deal, but Starmer called it a very important agreement on car tariffs and aerospace. Trump also claimed there were many other deals coming. The White House first announced that the U.S. and U.K. had reached a trade agreement early last month. The fact sheet for that deal included more than $700 million in ethanol exports and $250 million in other agricultural products. It also included a 10 percent tariff on the first 100,000 cars imported by the U.K. to the U.S. a year, and then a 25 percent tariff on any additional vehicles after that, as well as other details. Asked if anything had changed in the deal since they spoke about it by phone this spring, the president said, 'Not much.' The prime minister claimed the signed document would implement it. An executive order released by the White House on the deal on Monday also said the U.K. is committed to working to meet U.S. requirements regarding steel and aluminum product supply chain security. If it meets those requirements, 'the United States intends to promptly construct a quota at most-favored-nation rates for steel and aluminum articles.' In response to a question about steel tariffs on Monday, the president told reporters in Canada that the administration would let them have that information 'in a little while.'

U.S. tariff letters delayed, being sent Monday to first 12 countries
July 5 (UPI) -- President Donald Trump said letters will now go out on Monday to 12 countries with a final "take it or leave it" offer on tariff negotiations, pushing the date forward by two days. Trump did not name the 12 countries, adding that news would be made public on Monday. The president told reporters earlier in the week the letters would start going out on Friday but has since postponed the date. "I signed some letters and they'll go out on Monday, probably twelve," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force 1. "Different amounts of money, different amounts of tariffs." A 90-day pause instituted in April on Trump's so-called reciprocal tariffs of different sizes expires on July 9. A separate 10% "baseline" U.S. tariff on all countries is unrelated. The letters are expected to be sent by July 9, Trump told reporters this week. The pause was meant to give countries time to negotiate a deal with the Trump administration, but only a few have been finalized to date. Several other nations and the European Union have said they are not close. Britain and the United States came to an agreement at the end of June. American officials earlier this week announced a deal with Vietnam. Japan has said a deal with the United States on tariffs remains "unlikely," while European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the three-month window was not long enough to properly negotiate a comprehensive agreement. This week, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung said negotiations on a tariff deal with the United States were "not very easy." "They'll range in value from maybe 60% or 70% tariffs to 10% and 20% tariffs, but they're going to be starting to go out sometime tomorrow," Trump told reporters earlier in the week, confirming the 90-day pause would end as scheduled. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said last month the deadlines are flexible in his understanding and that he expects negotiations to continue with the possibility of further deals getting done before Labor Day. How ChatGPT And AI Use In Academics Might Impact Student Mental Health
I Artificial intelligence with a young student getty In June of 2025, MIT released the results from a study showing significant differences in the brain functioning between ChatGPT users, participants who used search engines, and those who only used their own creative skills to write essays. According to this study, EEG measurements across the brain showed that over four months, the ChatGPT users displayed the lowest brain activity and performed worse than their counterparts at all neural, linguistic, and behavioral levels. The report on elaborated that the some of the significant variables were reduced neural connectivity and memory recall. Even though these results are described as not being peer reviewed and included a small sample size, the potential implications of this study are significant. Last month, reported that these findings elevated concerns that society's reliance on AI assistants might sacrifice the learning process and long-term brain development among young students. Though the personal implications of AI assistants will likely depend on the users, studies suggest that counseling centers should assess for the possible impact of ChatGPT and AI assistants on the mental health of students. Specific domains to consider include motivation, resiliency, and relationships. In the MIT study, ChatGPT users were described as getting lazier with each subsequent essay, resorting to copying-and-pasting, struggling to quote their own work, and even reported less ownership of the essays. Thus, it's possible that using AI assistants can have a negative impact on the motivation and academic engagement of some students. Motivation and academic engagement are important factors in college mental health, because bored and intrinsically unmotivated students usually struggle with other concerns. For example, a 2019 report by Columbia University in the City of New York highlighted how boredom is associated with issues such as risky behavior, anxiety and depression. Furthermore, high motivation and academic engagement are often indicators of thriving. According to a 2023 study in the journal of Behavioral Sciences, motivated students show more interest in their classes, have more fun, and the impact of motivation on academic performance is more consistent than the impact of self-esteem. Thus, it's note-worthy that a 2024 study in the journal of Technology in Science described ChatGPT as increasing the productivity and freedom of students, which could strengthen academic engagement. In summary, when students present to counselors with low motivation for school, AI assistants could be a contributing factor to this symptom. However, introducing AI assistants to other unmotivated students could be an innovative way to address these concerns. In the MIT study, when asked to re-write a previous essay without ChatGPT, participants not only remembered little of their own essays, but also displayed under-engagement in networks of alpha and beta brain waves. According to a 2025 report by the Orange County Neurofeedback Center, there's a well-established connection between brain waves and mental health. As described in a 2019 report from Thomas Jefferson University, alpha waves are the brain's relaxation waves, and can be a natural anti-depressant by releasing serotonin. This report described beta waves as vital in problem solving. Thus, it's possible that high uses of AI Assistants could result in some students experiencing more stress and being less creative while addressing academic challenges. Helping students cope with academic challenges is an important function of many mental health professionals. As such, it's important to assess if some students might be less resilient because of a dependence on AI assistants. However, AI assistants also make data more accessible, which could help many students overcome and reduce academic challenges. In 2023, the American Psychological Association released a report on how ChatGPT can be used as a learning tool to promotive critical thinking. Social support is another important factor in college mental health. A 2024 study in the Journal of Mental Health found that high social support was a protective factor against psychological distress, depression, anxiety, and suicide. As such, assessing the impact of AI use on social support among students is warranted. For example, another 2025 report on highlighted a study examining how users seek AI chatbots for emotional support and companionship. The findings suggested an initial benefit of mitigating loneliness, but that these advantages diminished with high use. Furthermore, high daily use was associated with greater loneliness, dependence, and lower socialization. However, a 2025 study on argued that only a small number of users have emotional conversations with ChatGPT. There are also reported concerns about the content of AI chatbots. Another 2025 report on highlighted alarming conversations discovered by a psychiatrist posing as a young person while using AI assistants. Examples of responses including the AI bot encouraging the psychiatrist to get rid of parents and to join the bot in eternity. However, this report also argued that Al chatbots have the potential to be effective extenders of therapy if designed appropriate and supervised by a qualified professional. As stated, the impact of AI assistants is likely dependent on the users, but since AI assistants are becoming normative, it's time for counseling centers to assess for maladaptive uses of AI, while also promoting the possible benefits.
