Liverpool wonderkid lined up to replace club legend

One of Liverpool's very own could replace Jordan Henderson at Ajax according to a recent report.
There are no two ways about it, the former club captain will always be a legend at Anfield. Henderson lifted both the Premier League and the Champions League and he spent more than 10 years at Liverpool.

His journey from a young midfielder into one of the best all-around midfielders in England in his prime was truly an inspiring ride.
During a lot of his early years, Henderson was written off at Anfield. It felt like he had no future for a long time. But then very gradually he established himself as a key player for Liverpool and then under Jurgen Klopp he became an indispensable player.
His subsequent years in Saudi Arabia and Ajax Amsterdam have been a little bit more frustrating.
It seems like this summer he's going to be on the move again, just two years after leaving the club and set to join his third team.

The Daily Mail has reported that he could leave Ajax with Nottingham Forest and Sunderland interested in his services.
Those will be interesting moves, and it's going to be fascinating to see Henderson back in the Premier League potentially even facing the Reds at Anfield.
Another even more interesting aspect of Henderson's move could be the domino effect that might impact Liverpool as well.
According to The Times a number of clubs are monitoring Tyler Morton's future at Anfield. The England U21 European Championship winner is reportedly on the radar of Braga, who are set to accelerate their efforts to bring him to Portugal.

But they are not alone, according to the report Ajax are also keen on the midfielder, with their interest cited as 'significant.'
Ajax's new head-coach is Johnny Heitinga, who will know Morton well having worked at the club as an assistant manager last season.
Heitinga has already brought in Vitezslav Jaros on loan from Liverpool and it seems like he is now looking to use his connections to sign an absolute gem in Morton.
It would be a cool Liverpool reunion to witness, especially at such a historic club. For Morton, it would be an excellent platform to establish his career.
Coming in to replace Henderson will provide him with regular minutes and also the distinction of filling the void left behind by a player who has done everything he can at Liverpool.

Morton will have looked up to Henderson for many years at the club so he would undoubtedly be relishing that opportunity.
But Braga are clearly keen on his services as well, so it will be interesting to see what decision Morton and Liverpool make.
It's a situation worth keeping a close eye on.

Liverpool transfer news as Bayern Munich 'makes concrete approach' for Reds star

Bayern Munich has reportedly made a concrete approach to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool, as speculation surrounding the forward's Reds future refuses to go away. Diaz is coming off the back of his best season as a Liverpool player but has been linked with a number of clubs in recent weeks, with Bayern among them. Advertisement The Saudi Pro League has been mentioned as a possible destination for Diaz, as has Barcelona, and the latest claim, which comes from German outlet Bild, is that Bayern has firmed up its interest in the winger. It is claimed that "specific figures" have been discussed and that Bayern is getting serious about signing Diaz. Interestingly, the report says that Real Madrid has also shown interest in Diaz. The Bavarian club is in the market for a new winger following the departure of Leroy Sane, who joined Galatasaray on a free transfer last month. Marcus Rashford is mentioned as an alternative target to Diaz, with the England international expected to leave Manchester United this summer. Liverpool would rather keep hold of Diaz but there is said to be little expectation that he will sign an extension to his current contract at Anfield, which is due to expire in 2027. Advertisement Liverpool has reportedly attempted to address Diaz's contract situation but little progress has been made, and rather than sell him this summer, the club would prefer to maximize his performance value over the next two years and allow him to leave for nothing following the 2026-27 season. Diaz is currently on the same terms that he agreed when he signed for Liverpool in January 2022. As such, he's paid far less than some of the Reds' biggest stars. But he was an important player for Arne Slot's team this season and Sky Sports claimed earlier this year that Liverpool was set to offer a deal that reflected his status. Advertisement Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest has reportedly agreed a fee with Lyon for winger Malick Fofana, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool. Lyon's financial difficulties, which led to them being demoted to Ligue 2 last month, mean that they are being forced to sell their best players, with Rayan Cherki having already moved on, to Manchester City. However, while Forest has agreed a deal with Lyon to sign exciting young winger Fofana, there is no agreement between Forest and the player as yet, with suggestions he is holding out for a move to a Champions League club.

Leverkusen signs England Under-21 defender Jarell Quansah from Liverpool

LEVERKUSEN, Germany (AP) — Bayer Leverkusen has replaced former captain Jonathan Tah with Jarell Quansah from Liverpool in a club-record signing for a defender. The 22-year-old Quansah signed a contract through June 2030 and will wear Tah's former No. 4 shirt, the Bundesliga club said Wednesday. The reported fee of more than 30 million euros ($35.3 million) rising to 40 million ($47 million) with bonuses corresponds roughly with what Liverpool agreed to pay Leverkusen for Netherlands right back Jeremie Frimpong in May. Liverpool reportedly secured a buy-back option for Quansah for more than 60 million euros ($70.6 million) after he has spent two seasons at Leverkusen. Leverkusen also sold star player Florian Wirtz to Liverpool last month for a Bundesliga-record fee. Tah switched to league rival Bayern Munich once the season concluded after declining to extend his contract. He had spent a decade at Leverkusen and was a key part of the team which won the Bundesliga and German Cup unbeaten in 2023-24. Quansah won the Under-21 European Championship with England last week. But he was unable to establish himself as a regular starter at Liverpool ahead of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté. 'One of the most promising English central defenders. He's fast, agile, a good footballer,' Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes said of Quansah. 'He has already made an impressive impact in a Liverpool defense dominated by world-class players. With Jarell, our defense gains significant dynamism, pace and toughness in tackling, and he's another very important building block." Rolfes is overseeing huge changes at Leverkusen following coach Xabi Alonso's departure for Real Madrid. Wirtz, Tah and Frimpong have all left, and Rolfes has been signing promising young players to make up for their departures. Leverkusen last week signed Abdoulaye Faye for a reported fee of 3 million euros ($3.5 million) from Swedish team BK Häcken, with the 20-year-old Senegalese defender expected to go on loan for the upcoming season. Previously, Leverkusen announced the signings of France youth international Axel Tape on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain's under-19 team, 19-year-old Ibrahim Maza from Hertha Berlin, and 21-year-old defender Tim Oermann from relegated Bochum. Oermann was promptly loaned to Austrian champion Sturm Graz for the season. ___
