Rock band reschedule handful of shows to 'grieve' Ozzy Osbourne
The Black Sabbath vocalist and music pioneer died aged 76 on July 22, with his family announcing the news to his legions of fans.
It came just weeks after Ozzy and Sabbath performed their final show in their hometown of Birmingham, raising £140million for charity.
Pantera – made up of Phil Anselmo, Charlie Benante, Rex Brown, and Zakk Wylde – were among the star-studded bill of Back To The Beginning, performing Cowboys from Hell, Walk, Planet Caravan, and Electric Funeral.
Zakk was the longtime guitarist for Ozzy and joined Pantera in 2022 when the 80s band reformed.
Following Ozzy's death, the group has rescheduled two concerts and cancelled three others to allow the band members to 'mourn' and 'grieve' their friend.
In a message posted to social media, they said: 'Ozzy wasn't just a legend who shaped the very foundation of heavy metal and inspired Pantera from the beginning — he was family.
'A mentor, a brother, and a constant presence in our lives both on and off the stage. The bond we shared with him ran far deeper than music.
'In light of this profound loss, we need time and space to grieve — to be with our families, our crew, and each other as we process and honour the life of someone who meant so much to us.
'Out of respect, and to allow members of our team the time to mourn, we will be rescheduling the following shows.'
Their US shows in Gilford, Birmingham, and Virginia Beach will no longer take place. Their July 20 show in Saratoga Springs has been rescheduled to September 9, and their July 31 date in Holmdel will now be held on September 8.
Following the news of Ozzy's death, Pantera shared a tribute online expressing their deepest sympathies with his wife, Sharon, and his children, including Jack and Kelly.
'RIP @ozzyosbourne Thank you for all that you did for metal & Pantera. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Amy & Louis, we are so very sorry for your loss ❤️🩹,' they wrote.
Ahead of the Back To The Beginning show, Zakk, who toured extensively with Ozzy throughout his career and reunited with the musician at the Villa Park show, shared some of his fondest memories of the Crazy Train hitmaker.
'I remember we played the Budokan [Arena] in Tokyo. I'd always have a bag of beer with me, just in case anywhere we were going didn't have beer,' the Black Label Society musician told NME.
'So, Oz comes in the room after the gig. He goes 'Zakky, Zakky… you got any beers?' I go, 'Yeah, but I'm not giving you one here. You're going to get us fired! Mum's [Sharon Osbourne] right across the hall – she's going to come and see the two of us drinking, is that going to be good?'
He said the pair were like 'a couple of naughty school kids' opening up on the 'wholesome' touring memory.
'[Ozzy] goes, 'Alright, tell you what, I'll meet you in the bathroom.' So I go in the bathroom, I'm waiting. All of a sudden, I hear the door open. He comes in the stall right next to me, and I push a Kirin or Asahi under there. I hear the 'psssst' of the can, then 'glug, glug, glug!' He downs it in one, puts the can down, pushes it back under and goes, 'Thanks, Zakk. I'll see you at dinner'.'

Plenty of celebrities across the globe have also shared tributes, including Sir David Beckham, Queen legend Sir Brian May, and the Gallagher brothers, who displayed Osbourne's photo on-screen during their Wembley concert.

They said in a statement: 'It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.'
As well as Sharon, he is survived by six children from his two marriages.
Fans will know Kelly and Jack, whom he shared with Sharon and starred in their hugely popular reality series The Osbournes. But he also had another daughter, Aimee, with the former X Factor judge.
As for his other kids, Osbourne welcomed Elliott, Louis, and Jessica with Thelma Riley, to whom he was married from 1971 to 1982.

Ozzy Osbourne once said he didn't want to be remembered as the man who bit off the head of a bat, but the acclaimed musician's burial place had a cheeky nod to the infamous moment. The Black Sabbath frontman passed away on July 22 at age 76 and was laid to rest this week on the grounds of his mansion in England. That means the singer was buried just a stone's throw away from multiple bat boxes — man-made structures designed to provide shelter for bats. He had them installed in his Buckinghamshire abode in 2022 — a possible attempt to make amends years after he was slammed by animal rights activists for ripping the head off a bat with his teeth live on stage, which he later defended by saying he thought it was fake. A source close to the singer told the Daily Mail that the irony of him being laid to rest so close to the bat habitats did not go unnoticed amongst his loved ones. 'The subject of the bat boxes in the grounds has prompted some real laughter and joy — something for sure Oz would approve of,' they said. 'You cannot even make it up. He has spent decades being caught up in this drama around bats and animal rights groups — and then he is there at his final resting place in a space used to help encourage bats to thrive in the UK countryside. It has prompted quite a few laughs and funny reactions. It is like Ozzy had the last laugh.' Ozzy and his wife, Sharon Osbourne, bought the 250-acre estate, known as Welders House, in 1993, and according to the insider, it was a place they often 'escaped' to when they needed a break from fame during the height of his career. '[The mansion] had been where he and Sharon escaped from the showbiz world in the 1990s and 2000s to simply focus on family,' they explained. 'Once again it showed how despite all the amazing rock and roll success and celebrity he had, in his heart he was always a family man.' Ozzy announced that he planned to move back to Welders House permanently in 2022 after years of spending most of his time living in Los Angeles. At the time, he had the home revamped, adding the bat boxes as well as a 'rehabilitation wing' following his Parkinson's disease diagnosis in 2020. Planning documents for a health and welfare exercise suite, a swimming pool, and decking were submitted to the local council in March that year. But his battle with Parkinson's and a crippling fall that exacerbated his old quad bike injury are thought to have delayed his return to the UK. Ozzy famously bit the head off a bat after a fan bizarrely hurled the animal on stage during a Black Sabbath show in January 1982. It's been debated whether or not the creature was alive at the time; Ozzy has claimed that it was and that he needed to be rushed to the hospital for a rabies shot, while audience member Mark Neal, who alleges he was the one to throw it, has insisted it was dead. Either way, Ozzy's mouth was seen filling with blood as the audience watched on in horror, and he never lived down the shocking incident. He has long insisted he initially thought the bat was a rubber toy rather than a live animal before he bit it. In a 2020 interview with the Los Angeles Daily News, Ozzy admitted, 'It's not the way I want to be remembered [but] I know I'll be the man that bit the head off the bat. That will be my epitaph. It won't be, 'Here lies Ozzy Osbourne … he did a bit of good…' It's going to be, 'The bat-biting lunatic,' which … I don't care.'

The Prince of Darkness has created a light-hearted moment from beyond the grave because his final resting place is surrounded by bat boxes. Heavy metal singer Ozzy caused the most controversy in his colourful career by biting off a bat's head. On Wednesday, thousands of fans in Birmingham paid their respects to Ozzy as his cortege passed through the streets of his home city. The next day, the 76-year-old was laid to rest beside a serene lake in a private ceremony at his Buckinghamshire country estate. Alongside the lake was a giant floral tribute saying: 'Ozzy F***ing Osbourne'. It comes after wife Sharon broke down in tears at Ozzy's funeral in heartbreaking scenes. A family friend said the bat boxes in trees by the lake, installed a few years ago in an estate upgrade, had provided moments of humour as they grieved. The insider said: 'This was like a classic Ozzy move. The man loved humour and this sure would have tickled him pink knowing how close friends reacted to this bat situation. 'After all those decades caught up in this drama around bats and animal rights groups, here at his final resting place there are bespoke bat boxes to help encourage the animals thrive in the UK countryside. Ozzy and wife Sharon, 72, spent more than £1million upgrading Welders House estate for their return to the UK in 2023, including a new wing to the mansion, a gym, recording facilities and lift giving the rocker, who had Parkinson's disease, access to the upstairs bedroom. The lake was doubled in size with fish added. Sharon and Ozzy's children – Jack, 39, Kelly, 40, Aimee, 41, and Louis, 50 – were joined by music stars for Thursday's ceremony at the250-acre estate near Gerrards Cross.
