Kate Beckinsale shares video of her tearing up as she sang to her mother in hospital
The actress, 51, posted a clip online in which she performs Bye, Bye Love by The Everly Brothers, a tribute to a harmony group her mum Judy Loe, 78, was in as a teenager after forming the Four Teens band with friends Mary, Sylvia and Chris when they were 14.
Kate said she is 'trying to keep the Four Teens going' as she welled up while singing in an emotional video she shared with fans.
She added in her Instagram post: 'I am a very poor substitute not being a very good singer.
'But I want my mum's dearest and oldest friends in her hospital room with her.
'(Sylvia) and Chris, please know I'm trying to keep the Four Teens going as best as I can from a distance and I love you both.'
Kate also thanked her mother's friends for their 'support and love', adding: 'It is a mark of my mother's extraordinary capacity for love and deep respect for relationship history that her friendships with her early school friends are still so very current.'
She added: 'Love you all but most especially my mum,' apologising to 'anybody in the hospital subject to (her) dreadful singing.'
Kate did not reveal details of her mother's condition, but previously disclosed Judy was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2023.
In February this year, Kate asked followers on Instagram to 'say a spare prayer' for her mother.
The latest update follows a period of public concern over Kate's health, particularly around her appearance.
Earlier this month, she addressed trolls' comments on a photo she posted of herself in bikinis.
'You don't look good. I think you honestly need help,' one comment read, to which Kate responded: 'Yes, I do. I'm going through one of the most deeply painful times of my life. The body keeps the score.'
Kate has previously faced body-shaming and medical complications herself.
In 2023, she was hospitalised after suffering a hole in her esophagus.
Around the same time, she was mourning the death of her stepfather, Roy Battersby.

Hulk Hogan didn't meet his grandchildren prior to his death
Hulk Hogan never met his grandchildren before his death. The wrestling legend passed away aged 71 last month after suffering a heart attack at his home in Florida and his son-in-law Steven Oleksy has revealed that Hulk showed "no interest" in meeting his estranged daughter Brooke's twins Oliver Andrew and Molly Gene when approached following their births in January. Former NHL player Oleksy told People: "I sent text messages once again to kind of gauge where he was at, but there was no interest." Oleksy explained how he and Brooke moved from Michigan to Florida to be closer to Hulk - whose real name was Terry Bollea - as he "was getting older" and suffering with his health. He said: "She was there for every surgery leading up to the last two years. She would fly down on her own dime, take care of her dad, and it just made a lot of sense. "No one understood his body, procedures, medications and everything else more than my wife." Oleksy explained that the family will remain in Florida following the WWE icon's passing as the state has grown to feel like "home" for them. The ex-ice hockey star said: "We've built a beautiful life here together." Brooke, 37, posted a lengthy tribute to her father on Instagram earlier this week and used her post to "clear a few things up" regarding the pair's estrangement. The realty star wrote: "It was a series of private phone calls no one will ever hear, know, or understand. My father was confiding in me about issues weighing on his heart, both personal and business. I offered to be a life raft in whatever capacity he needed. I told him he had my support. I begged him to rest, to take care of himself." Brooke - Hulk's eldest child from his marriage to first wife Linda Hogan - added: "We had been through almost 25 surgeries together, and then all of a sudden he didn't want me at surgeries…everything started getting covered in a thick veil. It was like there was a force field around him that I couldn't get through. (sic)" She explained how the pair's relationship ultimately collapsed due to a series of "respectful disagreements". Brooke said: "He was telling me these things, being so vulnerable with me and heard my pleas, then suddenly something shifted, and he made a choice to walk the path that clearly tore at his spirit. I felt a disconnect. What followed were respectful disagreements that took an emotional toll on me."

Sarah Jessica Parker bids farewell to Carrie Bradshaw after And Just Like That... ending announcement
Sarah Jessica Parker has penned an emotional goodbye to Carrie Bradshaw after it was revealed that And Just Like That... is coming to an end. The 60-year-old actress posted a clip montage of her character's best moments on Instagram after it was confirmed on Friday (01.08.25) that the Sex and the City sequel series will conclude later this month after three seasons. Sarah - who first played the part of Carrie back in 1998 - captioned her post: "Carrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years. I think I have loved her most of all. "I know others have loved her just as I have. Been frustrated, condemned and rooted for her. The symphony of all those emotions has been the greatest soundtrack and most consequential companion. Therefore the most sentimental and profound gratitude and lifetime of debt. To you all." Sarah's co-star Kristin Davis, who plays Charlotte York Goldenblatt in the show, stated that she is "profoundly sad" that the HBO Max series is ending. She wrote in her own Instagram post: "I am profoundly sad. I love our whole beautiful cast and crew. 400 artisans working so hard on our show with deep love. And to our loyal fans, we love you forever and ever." Cynthia Nixon - who portrays Miranda Hobbes - added: "I can't believe our wild, beautiful And Just Like That... ride is almost over. "It has been such a delight from start to finish. I will miss working with these people everyday SO incredibly much but know we will always be a part of each other's lives. Get ready for a lot more carousels in the weeks to come! And don't miss these last few episodes: surprises in store!" Showrunner Michael Patrick King confirmed that the series will be ending on August 14 following the two-part finale to series three and explained that the team "held off" announcing the news as they didn't want to "overshadow the fun" for audiences watching the final season. He said: "And just like that... the ongoing storytelling of the Sex and the City universe is coming to an end. While I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That... season three, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop. "Along with Sarah Jessica Parker, Casey Bloys and Sarah Aubrey, we decided to end the popular series this year with a two-part finale and extended the original series order from 10 episodes to 12. "SJP and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn't want the word 'final' to overshadow the fun of watching the season. It's with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years."

Dua Lipa made a citizen of Kosovo
Dua Lipa has been awarded Kosovo citizenship. The Levitating singer was born in London to Kosovar Albanian parents and was serenaded by a children's choir as she received the honour from Kosovar president Vjosa Osmani on Thursday (31.07.25). The politician posted on social media platform X: "Welcome back home, Dua. "Dua and Kosovo have always been inseparable. From the world's biggest stages to the hearts of millions, she's carried our story with strength, pride and grace. She's pushed boundaries, made history, and reminded the world that greatness begins with knowing who you are and where you come from." The 29-year-old pop star previously had Albanian citizenship granted in 2022 - with the country's president Bajram Begaj describing her as a "simple girl" who has given "great pride" to the nation. He said at the ceremony: "It is a special pleasure to welcome the great artist Dua Lipa today. I say great artist, but she is also a simple girl, who has given the greatest pride to us, Albania, Kosovo and wherever there are Albanians in the world. Albanian youth is an example and a source of inspiration for you and you have shown that dreams can be achieved by working harder. Tomorrow we celebrate the 110th anniversary of the declaration of independence and today the joint meeting of the Assembly of Albania and the Assembly of Kosovo took place. "Although art is not related to politics, it brings all people together and with your art, you have brought us together in this jubilee year! On this occasion, I am pleased to grant you Albanian citizenship." Meanwhile, Dua confirmed in June that she and her actor partner Callum Turner were engaged after months of speculation following an Instagram post last Christmas that featured her with a diamond ring on her wedding finger. The Houdini hitmaker told Britain's Vogue magazine: "Yeah, we're engaged. It's very exciting." Of her ring, Dua added: "I'm obsessed with it. It's so me. It's nice to know the person that you're going to spend the rest of your life with knows you very well." The couple - who started dating in January 2024 - are yet to set a wedding date because of their hectic work schedules. Dua said: "I want to finish my tour, Callum's shooting, so we're just enjoying this period. "I've never been someone who's really thought about a wedding, or dreamt about what kind of bride I would be. "All of a sudden I'm like: 'Oh, what would I wear?'"
