Makin makes history with PSA Squash Tour Finals title win
British number one Joel Makin has become the first Welsh player to win the PSA Squash Tour Finals after he beat world number one Mostafa Asal at Toronto's Revival Film Studios.
The 30-year-old won the first two games 11-10, 11-7, before Asal, 24, retired from the match due to an ankle injury after the Egyptian went 1-0 behind in the third game.

Makin was appearing in the first major PSA final of his career and he has now won the 10th - and biggest - title of his career.
It is Makin's second title of the season after also winning the Silicon Valley Open in October 2024.
"I've just been chipping away, and it's not been a short process, that's for sure," said Makin.
"It was a really high quality one, the same as last night [against Diego Elias]. We had two really good games, it was frustrating in the third that we didn't get to keep going.
"At sudden death again in the first game, it was really high quality. It's upsetting that he [Asal] wasn't right.

"I'm happy to win, but I want that challenge, I want to win. I want to see how I am against him when he's playing well.
"It's been another good week, it wasn't my best stuff in the group stages, but you've just got to keep trying, keep on getting better and come out and bring my best performance on the night."
World number one Nouran Gohar of Egypt won the women's trophy after beating world number four Olivia Weaver of the United States 11-10, 9-11, 11-8, 11-3.
The PSA Squash Tour Finals brings the curtain down on the PSA Squash Tour campaign, with the 2025-26 season set to begin in August.

He also refused to waive his no-movement clause at the March 7 trade deadline for a deal that would have sent him to the Carolina Hurricanes. Earlier this week, Leafs general manager Brad Treliving acknowledged to reporters that Marner was going to test the free-agent market. A trade to Vegas would be similar to the one the Hurricanes made at last year's draft, when they sent Jake Guentzel's rights to the Tampa Bay Lightning for a third-round pick after failing to get him to sign a contract. That allowed Guentzel to ink an eight-year deal with the Lightning, carrying a $9 million AAV.

Centres Koblar and Hopkins are first two Leaf picks at NHL draft
The Maple Leafs waited a long time for their first pick at the NHL draft, then went a long way to find him. Welcome to Toronto Tinus Luc Koblar, a wispy 6-foot-3 centre of Norwegian-Slovenian descent, who played for Leksands juniors in the Swedish league. He was ranked 56th among international skaters by Central Scouting and had eight goals and 21 points in 43 games last season. The Leafs picked 56th overall on Saturday at the end of the second round, having traded their first-rounder to Chicago and holding Florida's selection. They last went for a Norwegian-born player in 2010, Sondre Olden, another tall kid, who also played in Sweden and though he came to camp in North America, he never made the NHL. In the third round, 86th overall, Toronto looked closer to home with Tyler Hopkins, a 6-foot-1 centre with the Kingston Frontenacs. The Campbellville native amassed 51 points in 67 games with five assists in 11 playoff appearances. Koblar had not warranted a lot of ice time this year in Leksands, in part because of his age (17). He's the second Leksands player Toronto has taken in as many years after Victor Johansson at 120th last season behind first rounder Ben Danford. Koblar has seen a lot of action for the Norwegian junior team in international competition. The Leafs last went for a Norwegian born player in 2010, forward Sondre Olden, another tall kid, who also played in Sweden and though he came to camp in North America, he never made the NHL. Koblar was not at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles when league deputy commissioner Bill Daly read his name, though he spoke to the Leaf management team back in expected he'll attend the Leafs development camp next week in Toronto.
