The One Show's Alex Jones says 'oh no' as guest lets slip BBC series 'huge twist'
Alex Jones and Roman Kemp were back on The One Show when they chatted to Welsh star Sian Gibson about the return of her comedy series
Welsh a actress Sian Gibson joined the latest edition of The One Show, chatting about her hit BBC comedy series The Power of Parker's come back when she accidentally revealed a "huge twist".
Alongside her fellow actor Conleth Hill, Sian was there to spill the beans on the second series of their show that premiered in 2023. Set in 1990s Stockport, it weaves the tale of Martin Parker (played by Hill), who struggles to balance his mounting debts, familial duties to his wife (portrayed by Rosie Cavaliero), and his clandestine affair with Kath.

During the conversation with hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp, viewers learnt from Conleth that upon returning to the programme, Martin has experienced a "huge fall from grace", which is, according to him, exacerbated by Kath.

But it was Sian who jumped in saying: "Kath makes everything worse but there's lots of twists and turns and there's a huge twist in one of the episodes which means that Kath and Diane, her sister, played by lovely Rose Cavaliero, and Martin all have to work together."
Alex swiftly jumped in to prevent any further spoilers with an exasperated "Oh no!" as Sian confessed: "But we can't say what happens," reports the Express.

Sian, also known for her role in Peter Kay's Car Share, divulged that while her character Kath now lives with Martin, she has started to doubt their relationship, lamenting that he has "lost his sparkle" and swapped his suits for fleeces. In hopes of rekindling that lost charm, Kath pushes Martin towards returning to work.
The sitcom, located within the confines of an electronics retailer, brought about shared laughter between hosts Alex and Roman as co-creator Sian confessed her fondness for such stores.
She reminisced: "Do you remember in the olden days if you wanted a kettle you had to go to one shop for everything electrical, you couldn't shop around. It were magical, these places with everything there."

The One Show's Monday episode followed an unexpected hiatus the previous Friday due to a significant reshuffle of the BBC schedule. Ordinarily broadcast every weekday at 7pm on BBC One, the popular show was displaced by The Chelsea Flower Show coverage on Friday, May 23.
The shift in scheduling was announced during Thursday's edition of the show when Angellica Bell, stepping in as host, held back tears after they celebrated a charity worker in the One Big Thank You feature.

Carole Hughes from Stamford's three-year-old daughter Anna died from a brain tumour and the programme shared the touching story of how Carole, alongside her husband Rob, founded Anna's Hope in tribute to their child. Their organisation aids in securing specialised therapies, such as occupational, physiotherapy, and speech and language sessions for youngsters affected by brain tumours.
In an act of gratitude and recognition for Carole's dedication, she was greeted by none other than Angellica and Joanna Lumley with a uniquely named flower dedicated to Anna at The Chelsea Flower Show.
The One Show airs weeknights on BBC One at 7pm

Here's all you need to know: Why is EastEnders not on today? EastEnders fans are being warned that the BBC's Wimbledon coverage will see the soap bumped from its normal time slot. | BBC/Jack Barnes/Kieron McCarron The iconic soap recently celebrated its 40th anniversary with an incredible week of event episodes. It included a live special - that was influenced by a public vote, for the first time. However the show will be taking a week long break to start out July - and it is because of live sports. Love Island stars who look unrecognisable after the villa…bombshell's bodybuilder transformation to shocking eye surgery

One ex Islander admitted they've ruined their face after endless tweakments NEW LOOK Love Island stars who look unrecognisable after the villa…bombshell's bodybuilder transformation to shocking eye surgery LOOKING for fortune, fame and occasionally romance, a steady stream of ultra glammed-up stars have graced our screens on Love Island over the past decade. And while some indulge in a few tweakments prior to heading into the villa, a shocking number have undergone dramatic transformations after leaving the show. Advertisement 26 Patsy Field is the latest Islander to change her look Credit: Rex 26 Patsy underwent cat eye face lift surgery to 'feel prettier' 26 Patsy revealed the results of the op this week This week Love Island's first disabled contestant, Patsy Field, 30, revealed the jaw-dropping results of a cat eye facelift, which she had in a bid to 'feel prettier'. The Kent admin worker, who has Erb's Palsy, went under the knife in Turkey after becoming hypercritical of her appearance while trying to make it as a social media influencer. She admitted her first reaction on seeing the results of the "gifted procedure" was "what have I done?" and later said she "wouldn't recommend this" to her fans. Patsy said being on TV made her more self-conscious, and she was "egged on" to have the op because she's constantly looking at pictures of herself and had always had an "insecurity" about her eyes. Advertisement She is far from the only Islander to be tempted by surgical 'enhancement' after the show - especially because, as one former star revealed, there's a 'daily influx' of emails from firms offering free surgery. Here we take a look at some of our ITV show alumni favourites who now look completely unrecognisable. Nicole Samuel Last year's Love Island runner-up Nicole Samuel looks noticeably different since her time in the villa. The Welsh beauty has been working hard in the gym and keeps fans up-to-date with her incredible transformation, recently showing off her toned frame in a barely-there swimsuit. Advertisement Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr Daniel Barrett told MailOnline he believed Nicole had 'a little filler' and Botox. Unfortunately he believed the 'tweakments' had aged her, making her look 11 years older than she actually was, as he wrongly believed she was 35 instead of 24. Millie Court 26 Millie Court is among the rare group of Islanders still with their partners from the show Credit: Rex 26 She looks very different from when she was on Love Island Credit: Instagram/@milliegracecourt Advertisement Series seven winner Millie Court was forced to deny having a boob job after fans confused her 2st weight gain for going under the knife. The 29-year-old went up two dress sizes from a size 6 to a 10 after leaving the villa and said she was lucky the weight "goes to all the right places". She added: "It goes to my bum and boobs mainly, so my boobs are really big at the moment". Last year Millie, who has been getting lip filler since she was 17, spoke about having clearer skin after battling with acne flare-ups for years. Advertisement The former fashion buyer said she planned to have micro-needling - which smooths the skin by using small needles to increase collagen production - to mask her acne scars. Millie, is still dating her Love Island partner Liam Reardon from 2021 - they split in July 2022 but got back together in April 2023 - also switched her signature peroxide blonde locks for a darker shade. While she was booted off just days later, after failing to win over any of the boys, she's now turning heads for another reason. Lavena, 29, is now a bodybuilder, who just this week revealed she finished runner-up in a competition in a post flaunting her slim, muscular frame and natural curls. While she didn't walk away with a trophy, the mum-of-two, who tied the knot two years ago, said the 'journey lit a fire in me' online, hinting she will be returning for more. Advertisement Later she would claim to be 'too scared' to have plastic surgery or cosmetic procedures due to fearing needles so badly she would 'faint at a blood test'. However last year fans were double-taking after seeing snaps of the Brummie bombshell, 28, looking unrecognisable on a Majorca holiday. Tyne-Lexy hasn't addressed whether she's had any procedures done but has spoken about lifestyle changes and taking supplements. Back in 2018 she shed a stone and dropped two dress sizes in six weeks, admitting she "let herself go' after the show when she went back to university. Advertisement She also spoke about having clearer skin thanks to a herbal supplement after suffering acute acne breakouts on-and-off for years, which left her 'really depressed'. Advertisement The bodybuilding gym fanatic, who has gained a whopping 30kg of muscle, has participated in multiple competitions. He previously said he was "absolutely gutted" to be the first person voted off Love Island in 2017. Harley recalled working out five times a week and spending "half my life hungover" prior to the show, revealing he would go out drinking multiple times a week before he "broke the cycle". Harry Young 26 Harry Young first appeared on the show in 2021 Credit: Rex Advertisement 26 Fans struggled to recognise him thanks to a new haircut Credit: Instagram/HarryYoung Glaswegian Harry Young was the first Islander to be recruited through the dating app Tinder - and said he applied because he "didn't have the chance to date' during the pandemic. He was among the mass culling of contestants four days into his stint when six were kicked off in an especially cut-throat episode in 2021. Six months on from his TV appearance fans said the car salesman, 28, was unrecognisable after switching his quiffed flowing hair for a sharp fade with a flat fringe. Advertisement The transformation became apparent after he shared a selfie on Instagram, captioned: 'Ring light making eyes go mad,' showing off his brightly coloured irises. Jess White 26 Jess often had a slicked back look during her time on the show Credit: Rex 26 Her hairstyle has completely transformed her face Credit: Instagram 26 Jess now looks unrecognisable thanks to her new hairdo Credit: Instagram Advertisement No-nonsense northerner Jess White debuted a striking new look in August last year, not long after departing the villa. Rather than her usual slicked-back look, Jess, 26, framed her face with new thick bangs and had layers sliced into her glossy locks, leading some fans to brand her unrecognisable. She's since gone a step further and lightened her do, adding blonde highlights. Jess has also been open on social media about having filler in her lips. Advertisement Faye Winter 26 Faye Winter back in 2021 Credit: Rex 26 A more natural looking Faye 26 Two years on from the emotional posts dissuading fans from having cosmetic procedures, she hasn't addressed whether she's continued to undergo any, but her lips do look plumper again Credit: Instagram Since leaving the villa in 2021, Faye Winter has gone in the opposite direction to most Love Islanders by undoing cosmetic treatments she'd previously had. Advertisement She also shed nearly two stone, which she put on during the show due to 'sitting around eating' all of the time. Upon leaving the show, Faye had her lip filler completely dissolved, which she admitted was a 'shock to the system' because she believed it made her teeth and nose look bigger. Later, in an emotional plea to dissuade others from experimenting with injectables, the Exeter stunner, 30, told fans: 'I've ruined my face through over-filling and not getting the correct advice.' Sharing snaps of her 'lumpy' lips, Faye admitted having had 4ml of filler injected and admitted to being 'full of embarrassment and regret' seeing snaps of herself back on the show. Advertisement Two years on from the emotional posts, she hasn't addressed whether she's continued to undergo cosmetic procedures but her lips appear plumper again in recent snaps. Olivia Attwood 26 Love Island star Olivia Attwood back in 2017 Credit: Rex Features 26 She now fronts a docuseries that explores extreme plastic surgery Credit: Rex Olivia Attwood has never shied away from spilling the tea on all of her nips, tucks and 'tweakments'. Advertisement But in recent years she's exposed the problems of appearance-altering ops and has openly recognised her own fixation on them, which started from a young age and led her on a 'dangerous road to nowhere'. Two years on from leaving the villa in 2019, she spent £2,500 on chin liposuction and contouring and revealed she had been having fillers for six years. She had them dissolved after realising she had gone 'too far' and noticing her lip had 'come out of the lip line and started to look really puffy'. That same year Olivia had breast reduction surgery, having first had giant implants inspired by Katie Price and Jodie Marsh when she was 19 years old. Advertisement She told Heat magazine: 'They were really heavy and too big for my body, so I was starting to get some really bad aching. 'I can't wait to be able to wear more clothes now without my boobs falling out, putting people off their dinner.' Last year, Olivia - who is a fan of a slightly more natural look now - launched her ITV2 docuseries The Price of Perfection, which follows people undergoing drastic transformations. Inspired by her own body-altering mishaps, she said: 'I think what I've learned - and a lot of people have learned - is that with our bodies, we've got to be so careful not to follow fashion.' Corrie, Emmerdale and EastEnders cancelled in huge schedule shake-up

Soap fans hoping to get their weekly Thursday and Friday soap fix will be disappointed tonight as all three major soaps, Coronation Street, Emmerdale and EastEnders are off air Soap fans will be left disappointed tonight and tomorrow night, as all three major soaps have been taken off air in a huge schedule shake-up. Viewers are normally treated to an hour long episode of Emmerdale on Thursdays, along with a 30 minute trip to Albert Square with EastEnders. However, tonight all soaps have been taken off air. It's bad news for Coronation Street fans too, as although the soap doesn't usually air on Thursdays, it'll be taken off air on Friday night (July 3). ‌ EastEnders fans got their two hour dose of the soap earlier in the week as they were treated to a double bill on both Monday and Tuesday. Many eager fans took to iPlayer to watch the soap early, while those tuning in at 7pm had to switch over to BBC Two. ‌ The change is down to a summer of sports, with Wimbledon taking over the BBC schedules for two weeks. However, it's not the only sport taking over, as the BBC are also showing coverage of the Women's Euros as the football teams battle it out in the group stages. ITV will also be hosting the coverage of a number of Euros games. Tomorrow night, they'll be broadcasting live from Sweden as Portugal take on Spain. On Friday, they'll be showing coverage of Germany's match against Poland, meaning Corrie fans will have to wait until next week until their next trip to Weatherfield. Unfortunately, it's a longer wait than normal as soaps won't be back on air until next Wednesday. It's good news for EastEnders fans however, as they'll be treated to a double bill once again when Wednesday finally comes. ‌ Emmerdale fans will have one less day to wait, as the soap will return at 7.30 next Tuesday (July 8). Corrie fans will have one extra day to wait, as the usual Monday episode will be cancelled due to more football on the schedule. However, their regular hour-long trip to Weatherfield will resume on Wednesday at 7.30. The schedule shake-ups aren't the only huge change for the ITV soaps. On Monday (June 30) ITV started releasing full episodes of both shows on YouTube at 6am, as well as ITVX. The official Coronation Street Instagram page announced: "Soap fans, rejoice! "Starting tomorrow, full episodes will be available on YouTube from 7am — the same day they air on TV!" The update included an image showing Emmerdale and Corrie characters posing beneath logos of their respective soaps.
