Chandigarh: Mandatory entrepreneurship course under PU board review
An advisory has been sent out by Punjab secretary department of higher education and languages, Anindita Mitra regarding this. A working group on higher education reforms constituted by Punjab has recommended the need for this course. The group was chaired by Karamjit Singh, V-C of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and the government of Punjab has accepted this recommendation.
As per the committee, the universities are advised to roll out the Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum as a mandatory course for every undergraduate student in every semester of their degree programme. Each student must work on a business or service idea in every semester, refine and execute it, and demonstrate progress against defined semester-wise benchmarks. These benchmarks include parameters like viability, innovation and revenue generation. The universities will evaluate the students based on real-world performance.
As a phased rollout strategy, it has been recommended that this be implemented for BTech, BCom, BBA and BVoc degrees for 2025-26 and for other UG courses in the next academic session. Punjab government will create a multilingual digital platform for real time monitoring and execution of the course load.
As per the working group report, a semester wise breakdown on the course includes defining your niche and understanding marketing through content creation for the first semester. Other semesters will include earning from content, ads and collaboration, expanding clientele and using AI for content ideas, writing and posting. The group noted that to understand business, the students will have to actually do the business. In the first semester, they will be expected to generate a revenue of ₹10,000 which will rise upto ₹8 lakh by semester six.
PU officials however noted that they will ask for clarity regarding where this money will come from and what the students will do about this. An official present for the Punjab government meeting said that former Delhi minister Manish Sisodia was also present here and had given examples of how Delhi government had tried to start this in schools, encouraging school children to start their own businesses and the innovations that the children came up with. They said that this Delhi model will now be tried on a university level in Punjab. However more clarity is needed regarding the financial aspect of this course.
V-C Renu Vig said that they have received the mail and will go through it. 'It might be difficult to implement it now as it is already too late and the new session is about to start. I have asked the board of studies to see what can be done,' she added. Meanwhile, she said that PU already offers courses on entrepreneurship as electives and skill enhancement courses.

Despite the new chipset, Apple iPhone 17 is said to come with the same 8GB of RAM same as the iPhone 16. All the other three models — iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are said to feature 12GB of RAM. The higher-end variants will also feature faster LPDDR5X memory, enabling smoother multitasking and enhanced support for Apple Intelligence features. Apart from this, the upcoming iPhone 17 lineup is said to come with custom WiFi 7 chip, 6.3-inch OLED display and 48 MP dual rear camera along with an upgraded 24MP selfie shooter. PU to shift out of historic bldg after nearly a century
1 2 3 Patna: Patna University (PU), established in 1917, is set to bid farewell to its iconic administrative building on Ashok Rajpath and relocate to a new G+8 storey complex under construction at Krishna Ghat. Simultaneously, around 18 postgraduate departments under the faculties of humanities and social sciences will shift from the 70-year-old Darbhanga House to a new G+9 academic block adjacent to the administrative complex. Both the administrative and academic buildings, being constructed by the Bihar State Educational Infrastructural Development Corporation (BSEIDC) at a cost of Rs 139 crore, are nearing completion and are expected to be handed over to PU shortly. "The PU office and all PG departments located at Darbhanga House will be shifted to their new buildings by Dec this year," PU engineer Sachin Dayal said. PU's office has had a nomadic history since its inception. For the first five years, it operated from a wing of the then newly built Patna High Court. From 1922, it functioned out of offices near Golghar vacated by the Board of Revenue. Darbhanga House, a former palace built in 1901 on a 15-acre plot, became the home of PU's humanities and social sciences postgraduate departments in 1955. It was handed over to the university by the erstwhile Maharaja of Darbhanga for Rs 7 lakh. The building, with its carpeted wooden staircases, ornamental carved friezes, covered verandas and terraces, has seen only minor alterations since. It was renovated by BSEIDC around a decade ago. However, the structure has long struggled to accommodate the growing number of students enrolled in various courses. "With the considerable increase in the number of students in different courses, the classroom accommodation at Darbhanga House was proving too short for the conduct of smooth academic pursuits. Hence, another academic block was constructed for PU," said development officer Khagendra Kumar. The new G+9 academic block will feature a cafeteria on the ground floor and two departments per upper floor on average. It will also include a library and a dedicated reading room. Once vacated, Darbhanga House is likely to be taken over by Vanijya Mahavidyalaya. The administrative building will accommodate the general, establishment, registration and other essential university departments. It will also house the offices of the vice-chancellor, pro-vice-chancellor, the syndicate, the academic council and a conference hall, the development officer added.

iPhone 17 series: Titanium frames to A19 chips, what to expect from Apple
Apple is preparing to launch the iPhone 17 series later this year, expected to include four models: the standard iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and a new ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air — likely replacing the Plus variant. According to a report by GSMArena, citing analyst Jeff Pu, the entire lineup will be powered by next-generation Apple Silicon, most likely the A19 series of chips. In addition to performance upgrades, the lineup is also expected to bring notable design changes, including a shift away from titanium frames on the Pro models and the introduction of a new titanium-aluminium alloy frame exclusive to the iPhone 17 Air. Apple A19 chips across the lineup Contrary to earlier reports suggesting the base model would retain the current A18 chip, Pu claims the iPhone 17 will feature the newer A19 chipset. Both the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air are expected to be powered by the A19, while the Pro models may feature an A19 Pro variant with more GPU cores. Additionally, the Pro models are tipped to include faster LPDDR5X RAM, while the standard and Air models may stick with LPDDR5. Titanium alloy frame for iPhone 17 Air Apple is also expected to make notable changes to the materials used across the series. Multiple reports suggest the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max could revert to aluminium chassis, shifting away from the titanium alloy frames introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro lineup. However, titanium is not expected to disappear entirely. According to a report by 9To5Mac, citing analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will reserve the titanium frame design exclusively for the new iPhone 17 Air model, likely to provide added durability while maintaining a lightweight build. As per the report, Kuo said that the iPhone 17 Air will have a 'titanium-aluminium alloy metal frame, with a lower percentage of titanium than the current Pro and Pro Max metal frames.' iPhone 17 series: What to expect While the Pro models may lose their titanium chassis, a significant design overhaul is still anticipated. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are expected to introduce a dual-finish design featuring an aluminium frame and a partial glass rear to support wireless charging, MagSafe, and potential pass-through functionalities. Apple may also relocate the Apple logo and adopt a full-width camera layout, replacing the traditional corner camera bump. The Pro lineup could also receive upgraded telephoto lenses with higher resolution. The standard iPhone 17, while retaining much of its predecessor's design, is tipped to gain support for ProMotion display technology, allowing for adaptive refresh rates of up to 120Hz — something previously exclusive to the Pro series. As for the new iPhone 17 Air, it is expected to be Apple's slimmest smartphone ever. Reports suggest it could feature a chassis as thin as 5.5mm — thinner than the iPhone 6, which currently holds the record at 6.9mm. To achieve this ultra-slim profile, Apple might reduce battery capacity and opt for a single rear camera setup.
