Two people sent hospital and man arrested after A40 crash
A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs.
A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: 'Police attended a two vehicle collision on the A40 at Manordeilo.
'A white Lexon van and a grey Volkswagon were involved in a collision at about 8.15am this morning, Tuesday July 22. Two people were taken to hospital by ambulance.
'A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs and currently remains in police custody. The road was closed, with diversions in place, and reopened at 10.35am.

A shopkeeper tragically drowned at a Welsh waterfall after he went into the water to save the lives of his young nieces. A coroner has ruled the death of 27-year-old Mohananeethan "Mohan" Muruganantharajah, 27, an accident when he died at Bannau Brycheiniog, or the Brecon Beacons. Mr Muruganantharajah - a qualified pilot who ran an off-licence in Swansea - visited the Sgwd y Pannwr waterfall at Ystradfellte with his extended family on September 1, 2023, Pontypridd coroner's court heard. Coroner Patricia Morgan said: "The purpose of the visit was to walk and enjoy the scenery, reports WalesOnline. "When arriving at the waterfall, a number of members of his family decided to enter the water as the weather was pleasant. "Due to a number of Mohananeethan's family getting into some difficulty, he assisted them to safety. However, sadly Mohananeethan was pulled under the water and did not resurface. "Emergency services attended but were unable to rescue Mohananeethan. He was recovered from the water on Saturday, September 2, 2023, when he was declared deceased." The court previously heard the two children rescued by Sri Lankan-born Mr Muruganantharajah were his nieces. After helping them to safety he became stuck under a ledge. In her conclusion Ms Morgan recorded the death as an accident. A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said at the time: "We were called to Sgwd y Pannwr waterfall, Ystradfellte, at approximately 4.40pm on Friday, September 1, to a report of a man having gone into the water to rescue two children and not come out. "A multi-agency response was commenced with representation from the police, fire service, mountain rescue, HART (hazardous area response team) and both the UK Air Rescue Team and the Wales Air Ambulance landing their aircrafts nearby. "At shortly after 7pm the fire service located the body of 27-year-old Mohananeethan Muruganantharaja in the water with an underwater camera. "Unfortunately, due to conditions at the site recovery was not possible that evening, and specialist divers were brought in the following morning. His family is being supported by specialist officers."

Powys crossbreed dog must be kept on lead and muzzled
A 'dangerous dog' has been made the subject of a civil court order after it pinned a ban against a wall. Serena Vaughan, 54, the owner of Dexy, appeared at Welshpool Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (July 29) to formally agree to the order after a complaint was made against her dog. The court was told that the police had received a number of concerned calls regarding Dexy, an Irish Setter/Perro de Presa Canario crossbreed. Nia Jones, prosecuting, explained the application was being made by Dyfed-Powys Police. She said: "The main incident happened on February 9, this year, but there are some other incidents referenced. "The complainant was confronted by Dexy, who was unsupervised, and pinned him against a wall, prompting Miss Vaughan to run across the road. "The complainant said he felt very fearful that he was going to be bitten. "He had to take Miss Vaughan to hospital after she was bitten by the dog during the incident." Ms Jones added that the three smaller incidents saw Dexy bite a member of the public, which was only small but did puncture the skin; a neighbour had called police after hearing screams coming from the property when the dog was there; and another call came from a member of the public who had concerns regarding the dog. Ms Jones said Miss Vaughan, of Church Road in Welshpool, had been "very compliant" during the investigation, had already agreed to the order, and was now walking Dexy on a lead with a muzzle. She is also ensuring adequate fencing is in place to contain the dog.

Paedophile asked for sexual images of children on Snapchat
Terry Hughes was ordered to register as a sex offender in 2020 for engaging in sexual communication with a child. He was sentenced for the same offence in June 2022, before appearing again later that year for possession of indecent, prohibited, and extreme pornographic images. Prosecutor Alycia Carpanini told Swansea Crown Court that Dyfed-Powys Police attended Hughes' Waterston home on June 25 after receiving intelligence that his IP address was linked to a Snapchat account involved in online child sex offences. Hughes initially denied having a device, but then handed officers an unregistered phone and gave them the PIN. Officers found a Snapchat account on the phone claiming to be a 15-year-old boy, and the account had set up a group encouraging teenagers to post indecent images. Two accounts were also found on Session – an encrypted instant messaging app where users remain anonymous. One of the accounts – in the name 'Terry Teacher' – had been communicating with accounts which claimed to be children, as well as with other adults who had a sexual interest in children. Sex offender Terry Hughes set up a Snapchat group encouraging children to post indecent images. (Image: Dyfed-Powys Police) During conversations between June 11 and 14, Hughes asked for sexual pictures from an user who said they were a teenage girl. He also sent pictures of himself naked and a video of himself masturbating. In the early hours of June 25, he asked a user claiming to be a 10-year-old child for indecent images and sent naked images of himself. The user sent an image of a young child 'in a state of undress', however Ms Carpanini said this did not meet the criteria as an indecent image. Hughes had also been speaking with a man with a young child, and encouraged him to send indecent images of his son. The court heard Hughes could only be charged with attempted sexual communication with a child because the real age of the other account holders could not be identified. Hughes, of Meadow Way, made full admissions in interview, and pleaded guilty to two offences of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, attempting to cause a child to watch sexual activity, making a Category C indecent images, and breaching of a sexual harm prevention order. The court heard all of 41-year-old Hughes' nine previous offences were relating to child sexual offences. David Singh, appearing for Hughes, acknowledged the mitigation available is this case was 'limited'. 'There's a recognition that he does have a real problem that has to be addressed,' he said. 'Mr Hughes deeply regrets his behaviour. He is ashamed.' Judge Geraint Walters sentenced Hughes to a total of two years imprisonment. The defendant must register as a sex offender for 10 years, and was made the subject of a new sexual harm prevention order for the same period.
