Cheshire Dancer surprises in Valiant Stakes

Cheshire Dancer travelled in last as her rivals contested the lead, but then began to make progress on the outside in the final two furlongs before grabbing a narrow victory from Ed Walker's American Gal on the line. Palmer, who had struck in the preceding Princess Margaret Stakes with Fitzella, said: 'It's been a great hour, when we got done on the line in the first at Chester I didn't think it would be our day, so this is magical really. 'I said to the owners when she was third at Ascot during the Royal meeting that we would go back for the Valiant and she has since run massive when second in the Pipalong Stakes at Pontefract. 'Sometimes when these fillies find a rich vein of form and grow in confidence they improve and it's difficult to put your finger on how or why, but she's found that magical moment today. 'I was slightly nervous during the race, it wasn't the plan to sit last but they went an even enough gallop and she was really tough. 'She's been in the yard for three years and holds a real soft spot in all our hearts and it's lovely to see the success for everyone who puts so much into her. 'She went up to 86 after the run on the straight track here during the Royal meeting and now after two runs over a turning mile she's going to be up to a 100. 'She failed the vet for America after she finished third in the Kensington Palace. We had accepted an offer for her but that was probably for considerably less than she is now worth now, so it's funny how it goes.' He added: 'Winning these races are important for all trainers, but what we're really keen to get across to people is despite the fact I may have left Newmarket and moved to Cheshire, we're still doing the same job and winning Group races and people can with confidence send us well-bred horses and home breds.'

Unbeaten Tony Bloom-owned star Venetian Sun set big target as form receives major boost

The Brighton FC chairman's horse has won all three of her races, including the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot. The form was boosted on Saturday when fourth-placed Fitzella took the Sodexo Live! Princess Margaret Stakes under Oisin Murphy Tony Bloom's unbeaten filly Venetian Sun is back from a break and being primed to take on the colts in the Group One Prix Morny at Deauville. ‌ The speedy juvenile has swept the board against her fellow juveniles this season, running out a convincing winner of the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot. ‌ She then justified short odds by fending off Royal Fixation by a neck in Newmarket's Group Two Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes earlier this month. ‌ Back home in North Yorkshire, trainer Karl Burke chose to give Venetian Sun a few easy weeks and she is now building up to her first run at the highest level on August 24. The Ascot form received a major boost when fourth-placed Fitzella took the Sodexo Live! Princess Margaret Stakes on the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes undercard. "She is back cantering and we are looking ahead to the Prix Morny," said Burke, whose star horse is owned by Brighton FC chairman Bloom and Ian McAleavy. "It was a bit of an afterthought to go for the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes. She has been in great form since and I expect her to handle the journey to France OK. I think she's bombproof." Burke also has one eye on the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh in September, a race Aidan O'Brien has claimed ten times. ‌ "I have been impressed with his horse True Love and I think she is a bigger danger to my filly than any of the colts I've seen," he added. After finishing three lengths behind Venetian Sun at the prestigious royal fixture last month, Fitzella (9-4f) returned to winning ways under Oisin Murphy. Quickly away from stall five, she made all of the running and kept on well to hold the challenges of Staya and Bella Lyra. "She's the fourth horse to run out of the Albany and she's the third one to win a Group race and the other one won a maiden, so it looks like a pretty strong renewal," her handler Hugo Palmer said. "She's tough, game, good looking, well-bred. I said we would go seven (furlongs, next) whatever happened here."

Kia Joorabchian removes several horses including ‘spectacular' £4.6million Frankel filly from Ralph Beckett yard

KIA JOORABCHIAN has moved several horses away from Ralph Beckett — including the unraced £4.6million Frankel filly named Partying. The AMO Racing chief has shipped a number of his string from Kimpton Down Stables to Freemason Lodge where his new trainer Kevin Philippart De Foy has recently moved. 1 Joorabchian has left former Irish Oaks heroine You Got To Me with Beckett for now but has moved on the majority of his horses previously with the Arc-winning handler. De Foy sent out his first runners since his switch to Freemason at Leicester on Wednesday and has also recently received Ghostwriter, who was with Clive Cox. The £2m purchase was red-hot favourite for the Princess Of Wales's Stakes at the Newmarket July meeting earlier this month. But had to be withdrawn after rearing over when being saddled ahead of the 1m4f Group 2 won by Charlie Appleby's El Cordobes. The Belgian trainer recently issued an update on the four-year-old colt, saying: "Everything is fine with Ghostwriter and hopefully he'll be back soon." But it is Partying who is real headline-grabber. She was the most expensive yearling sold in the northern hemisphere last year and is out of the Royal Ascot-winning Shamardal mare Aljazzi. Joorabchian's right-hand man Alex Elliott helped strike the decisive blow at the Tattersalls Book 1 sale last October. And he said at the time: "She's a Frankel filly with that kind of physique from that kind of family. "We've seen Ylang Ylang from the same farm on the same Shamardal cross – we just need history to repeat itself! "I keep saying to people horses will pay you back. "It was a good bit more than we thought we'd have to pay but when Kia and his partners decided that they wanted the filly, they wanted the filly. "She is a spectacular filly, it is a spectacular price, and there's a spectacular bunch of horses here. "I'd like to say I was a cool customer when all that was taking place, but that would be a fib – I have never been in that rarified atmosphere before." De Foy moved to the now-retired Sir Michael Stoute's former base recently after being appointed AMO No1. Speaking of his decision to take on the trainer, who he called a 'perfect fit', football superagent Joorabchian said: "Kevin is a fantastic horseman who understands our goals and shares our ambition. "Having known and worked with him for several years, it makes this transition even smoother. "We know his character fits and our ideas align perfectly. "We believe he's the right person to take the operation to the next level, and we're excited about what's ahead with him leading the team at this historic yard." While De Foy added: "I am deeply honoured to have been entrusted with the responsibility of taking over at Freemason Lodge and training such an exciting string of horses for Amo Racing. "This is a major milestone in my career, and I'm incredibly grateful to Kia and the team for the opportunity. "Amo Racing's investment and ambition in the sport are truly inspiring, and I look forward to playing my part in what I hope will be a very successful journey together." .
