Beyonce performs at her European Cowboy Carter tour in London on June 5.
LOS ANGELES - American pop star Beyonce's Cowboy Carter tour is now the highest-grossing country tour of all time with over US$400 million (S$514 million) in revenue, concert organiser Live Nation said in a statement on July 28, citing a story from Billboard magazine.
The Cuff It (2022) singer has also become the highest-grossing black artiste of all time and the highest-grossing R&B artiste of all time, Live Nation added.
Additionally, the 43-year-old performer has made history as the first woman and American act to have two different tours earning over US$400 million with her Renaissance World Tour in 2023.
Beyonce launched the Cowboy Carter tour in Los Angeles on April 28, rolling through Texas Hold 'Em (2024) and other country hits while sharing the stage with her two daughters - Blue Ivy, 13, and Rumi, eight. She also has a twin son Sir, eight, with her husband, American rapper Jay-Z, 55.
Beyonce finished the record-breaking tour in Las Vegas on July 26 with special appearances from Jay-Z; her former R&B girl group, Destiny's Child; and American country singer Shaboozey.
There were 32 sold-out stadium shows across North America, Britain and Europe that grossed over US$400 million, according to Live Nation.
By contrast, American pop singer Taylor Swift earned over US$2 billion for her Eras tour that spanned from March 2023 to December 2024, becoming the highest-grossing tour ever.
Throughout her tour, Beyonce has paid homage to black American contributions to country music, specifically honouring black performers, some of whom are featured in the Cowboy Carter album (2024).
The 16 Carriages (2024) vocalist has spoken candidly about not feeling welcomed in the country genre despite her Texas roots, after she became the first black woman to win Best Country Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards in February.
Her performance at the Country Music Association Awards in 2016 received notable backlash, including racist comments across social media from those saying her songs were not real country music. REUTERS

First look: National Museum of Singapore's new immersive display Singapore Odyssea

SINGAPORE – Seven centuries of Singapore's history await visitors in the new immersive exhibit called Singapore Odyssea as they walk down a 50m-long spiral ramp in the National Museum of Singapore's (NMS) Shaw Foundation Glass Rotunda. The rotunda re-opens to the public on Aug 8 after a 10-month closure for the new exhibit to be installed. Singapore Odyssea features episodes from the country's history from pre-colonial times to the present day. NMS director Chung May Khuen highlighted that the exhibit was helmed entirely by a local team, a reflection of the progress local design talent has made since the rotunda was last revamped about a decade ago. The team included Ms Melissa Chan, art director at design and production firm GSM Project; multidisciplinary artist Brian Gothong Tan; Mr Joshua Tan, creative director at animation studio CraveFX; as well as events firm Kin Productions and audiovisual firm Electronics and Engineering. Here's what visitors can expect. 1. Entrance ST PHOTO: NG SOR LUAN Before entering the rotunda, visitors will each collect a radio frequency identification (RFID) wristband that activates interactive features in the rotunda. The new entranceway resembles a ship's bow, to symbolise a time-travelling vessel. 2. Link bridge ST PHOTO: NG SOR LUAN An LED globe hanging in the rotunda's drum tracks the evolution of Singapore's trade routes from pre-colonial times to present day. 3. Spiral ramp ST PHOTO: NG SOR LUAN As visitors walk down the glass rotunda's spiral ramp, they will go back in time and experience Singapore's history presented across four episodes – from current times to post-war and wartime Singapore, the colonial era and finally pre-colonial Singapore. The projection designs were inspired by reliefs found in temples in the region such as Angkor Wat. Each visitor is accompanied on his journey down the ramp by an animal 'companion' that activates display features, such as showing the interiors of a shophouse. 4. Base of drum ST PHOTO: NG SOR LUAN At the base of the rotunda's drum, visitors approaching a virtual waterfall will see it part to unfurl vignettes of Singapore's history over the past 700 years, such as civilians departing Singapore from Clifford Pier in the 1940s as World War II loomed. The LED floor ripples in response to footsteps, enhancing the immersiveness of the display. 5. Transition zone ST PHOTO: NG SOR LUAN Four myths are presented in this section, which links the glass rotunda to the start of the Singapore History Gallery. Graphics are used to represent Pauh Janggi, a magical tree above the navel of the ocean; Sang Nila Utama (above), the Palembang prince who supposedly gave Singapore its name; the swordfish attack that gave Bukit Merah its name; and Raja Chulan, a Chola king who is said to have explored the waters near Singapore in a diving bell. From this zone, visitors will enter the Singapore History Gallery. At a media preview of Singapore Odyssea on July 31, Ms Chung said that the glass rotunda's permanent exhibits reflect how visitors' expectations of museums have changed over the years. The display brought to life 69 pieces from the William Farquhar Collection of Natural History Drawings. Referencing the opening of that display, Ms Chung said: 'It was very groundbreaking for us when we first launched an immersive gallery at the National Museum, because it marked a shift from us – moving away from object-centric stories to actually exploring new ways of telling our Singapore Story.' She said that Story Of The Forest reflected how museum visitors had evolved beyond 'one-to-one interaction of artefacts' and wanted to enjoy museums in larger social groups, such as with family or friends. Ms Chung noted that while Story Of The Forest was a more passive experience for visitors, Singapore Odyssea is more multi-sensory, and allows visitors to participate in the experience. The RFID wristbands that visitors wear in the rotunda, for instance, unlock display features.

Justin Trudeau Spotted at Katy Perry's Montreal Concert, Fueling Dating Rumors

Justin Trudeau's appearance at Katy Perry's Montreal concert has set the internet abuzz, with fans sharing viral photos and videos of the former Canadian Prime Minister enjoying the show. The sighting comes just days after the pair were seen dining together, fueling fresh rumors about their relationship. Several posts show Justin watching Katy's event at Bell Centre in Montreal on Wednesday (July 30), accompanied by his daughter Ella-Grace. The politician, 53, looked captivated as he watched the American singer, 40, perform. In a viral video, the former Canadian Prime Minister can be seen mouthing several words from the song "Dark Horse" as Katy Perry performed live on stage. He was totally enamored watching the singer rock the stage with her hits. At one point, the politician seemed completely mesmerized when Katy demonstrated an impressive pose on stage. Justin Trudeau attending Katy Perry's Montreal Concert X Fans' Reactions After watching the viral posts of Justin smiling while watching Katy's live performance, social media users began speculating on the possibilities of a romantic relationship between the American singer and the former Canadian Prime Minister. "Katy Perry's new man, Justin Trudeau, is already showing up for her a DAY after their first date, meanwhile Orlando Bloom took 2 years to attend her tour. This is a HUGE upgrade," a social media user wrote. "Justin Trudeau, knowing the words to Katy Perry's songs, meanwhile, Orlando Bloom wanted her to retire... THE UPGRADE," another user stated. "Bro must be DOWN BAD if he's willing to go to Lifetime's concert," a post read. "Imagine getting good seats at a concert and you see a former head of state just hanging out to support his new girlfriend," a social media user stated. "Wait, is she gonna be the president of Canada now?" a user asked. "This is genuinely the happiest he's been in a while," the next one stated. The dating rumors about Katy and Justin started doing the rounds online after the two were filmed dining together at the Le Violon restaurant in Montreal on Monday (July 28). A video of the politician and the singer captured the moment they leaned towards each other over a table for an intimate chat. The former Canadian Prime Minister and the American singer reportedly spent nearly two hours in the restaurant, according to a communications consultant for the restaurant Le Violon. But the report suggests that they were chilling at the fine dining spot without any visual signs of PDA or anything. The American singer called it quits with her former fiancé, Orlando Bloom, last month. She began dating Bloom in 2016 and got engaged in 2019. The former couple shares a daughter, Daisy. Katy was married to Russell Brand in 2010 and they divorced in 2012. Justin officially announced his split from Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, after their 18 years of marriage. They share three children together -- Xavier, 17, Ella-Grace, 16, and Hadrien, 11.

'I just wanted to sleep and escape. I wanted a break, but I love my work too much. Even when it's exhausting, I enjoy giving my all,' he said. Following his discharge, he went home to shower before heading straight to rehearsals for the stage show, Let Me Entertain You. Despite his resolve to keep working, he ultimately decided to take a temporary break from the theatre production after consulting his doctor. 'I hope I can still perform. That tiny hope, that tiny desire, those little thoughts and the little bits of support from everyone around me are what I'm holding on to,' he said. Opening up about the emotional impact of the lung adenocarcinoma diagnosis, Or shared on July 30 that he Googled for guidance on how to cope with his disease. He then recalled a moment that helped shift his perspective – when his tearful father hugged him and said he wished he could take his place. 'At that moment, I felt lucky to have such a loving father. I was even more relieved that it wasn't him or someone I love who got sick. That's when I began to accept my diagnosis.' Or went on to reassure his fans, urging them not to worry or tell him to 'stay strong'. ' Living in this crazy world is already hard enough. A smile, a nod or even a 'strong' emoji is enough... That's all I need to know you're with me,' he said. He concluded with a message of hope, writing: 'I'll be okay. Life goes on. I love you all and know I'm cherished by all of you.'
