Murder charge after woman stabbed to death
Emergency services were called to a home on Bronte Crescent at Elizabeth East about 6.40pm on Thursday after reports a woman had been stabbed.
A 28-year-old woman from Para Hills West was found at the scene with a stab wound to her chest.
She was taken to hospital in a critical condition and died later that night.
A 25-year-old woman from Davoren Park was arrested at the scene
She has been charged with murder and been refused bail.
She is expected to appear before the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Friday.
The women were known to each other, police said.

State Trooper Is Said to Be a Suspect in 2 Fatal Shootings
A New Jersey state trooper who previously was a supervisor on the governor's protection detail is suspected of killing his former girlfriend and a man in Hunterdon County before killing himself, according to two people briefed on the investigation. The deaths were discovered around 12:20 p.m. on Saturday, when local police officers responded to a 911 call in the Pittstown section of Franklin Township made by someone who had found an unconscious woman with physical trauma. The officers found two people who had been fatally shot in what investigators believe was a targeted act, according to the Hunterdon County prosecutor's office, which released a statement on Sunday. Investigators identified the victims as Lauren Semanchik, 33, of Pittstown, and Tyler Webb, 29, of Forked River. The two victims were found in Ms. Semanchik's home. While the prosecutor's office did not name a suspect, he was identified by a person familiar with the investigation as Ricardo Santos, a state trooper and Ms. Semanchik's ex-boyfriend. A second person familiar with the investigation confirmed the name of the suspect. Officer Santos had served several years ago in the State Police's executive protection unit on Gov. Philip D. Murphy's detail. More recently, he was assigned to the agency's dignitary protection unit, which guards other important people in the state government, one of the people said. He was found dead in a vehicle in Johnson Park in Piscataway, N.J., on Saturday, according to one of the people familiar with the investigation. The local police in Piscataway referred questions to the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office, which was closed for the weekend. Deanna Semanchik, Ms. Semanchik's sister, said in an interview Sunday that the trooper had been harassing Ms. Semanchik in recent weeks. She said the two had dated for only a few months earlier this year, but that he would not leave her alone. 'She was the most empathetic person I have ever met,' Deanna Semanchik said. 'She just had such a big heart.' Lauren Semanchik, a veterinarian, owned the home where the shooting occurred, property records show. Mr. Webb was a volunteer firefighter, according to the Pinewald Pioneer Fire Company, which announced his death in a Facebook post Sunday. A spokeswoman for the New Jersey attorney general's office, which oversees the State Police, said that the office was devastated by the tragedies and extended sympathies to the victims' families and loved ones. A spokesman for Mr. Murphy said that the governor's office was shocked by the killings. Victims of Montana bar shooting identified as manhunt for military veteran suspect continues
Officials have identified the four victims who were shot and killed when an Army veteran allegedly opened fire at The Owl Bar in Anaconda, Montana, on Friday morning. At about 10:30 a.m. on Friday, 45-year-old Michael Brown allegedly entered The Owl Bar and opened fire, killing 59-year-old Daniel Edwin Baillie, 64-year-old Nancy Lauretta Kelley, 70-year-old David Allen Leach, and 74-year-old Tony Wayne Palm, all of whom were residents of Anaconda. Brown remains at large as search efforts continue in the Stumptown area, just west of Anaconda, where the suspect was last seen. Authorities released a photo of Brown on Saturday, showing him barefoot and shirtless, walking down a flight of steps. The photo showed Brown wearing black shorts and fleeing after the shooting Friday, according to the state Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI). It is unclear what led to the shooting. DCI Administrator Lee Johnson said in a statement Friday evening that officials had located the white F-150 pickup truck in which Brown allegedly fled. However, Brown was not located in or around the vehicle. After discovering the vehicle, authorities focused their search on the mountains near Stumptown Road. The search continued into Sunday and has involved air and ground resources. SWAT also cleared Brown's house Friday, though he remained at large. Law enforcement officials have not received reports of Brown harming any other people, though he is believed to be armed and dangerous. Residents in the area have been encouraged to stay inside their homes and remain on high alert. DCI has warned residents that if they see Brown not to approach him. Instead, residents are encouraged to call 911 immediately. He has been described as 5-foot-10 and about 170 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair. Brown was an armor crewman in the Army from January 2001 to May 2005 and served in the National Guard from April 2006 to March 2008, Army Public Affairs confirmed to Fox News Digital. He deployed to Iraq from February 2004 to March 2005 and left the service with the rank of sergeant. He also served as an armor crewman in the Montana National Guard from April 2006 to March 2009, officials said.

Police investigating Simi Valley assault involving juveniles, racial slurs
The Simi Valley Police Department is investigating after an alleged assault took place outside of a movie theater Friday night. In a news release, the department said officers responded to reports of an assault at 2751 Tapo Canyon Road, the Civic Center Plaza, at about 11 p.m. The victim of the alleged assault was no longer at the scene; however, at around 12:45 p.m., the department received a call from him and his mother, and officers responded to their home. The SVPD did not release additional details on the alleged assault, but said videos of the incident have proliferated online and will be included in the criminal investigation. Several racial slurs were said during the incident, SVPD confirmed. The department also said one of the juveniles believed to be involved is a relative of an SVPD officer. That officer will not be involved in the investigation, the department said. "That relationship has no bearing on this investigation," the news release reads. "A thorough and unbiased investigation will be conducted." No additional details were immediately made available.
