KOTA KINABALU: A cable theft has caused a power outage affecting Intan Sabah Campus, Telipok, and surrounding areas on Sunday, Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (Sabah Electricity) confirmed. The incident, involving an attempted underground cable theft on a 33kV line linking PPU Kibing to PPU Manggatal, led to major damage and disrupted supply from midday. Technical teams were deployed immediately to carry out overnight repair works, supported by five mobile generators supplying power to affected areas. Sabah Electricity Chief Operating Officer Mohd Yusmanizam Mohd Yusuf said the team worked continuously until power was restored at 5.14am on Monday. KOTA KINABALU: The clothes and personal items belonging to the late Zara Qairina were seized by the police team on Tuesday evening. Lawyers Hamid Ismail and Shahlan Jufri, who represented Noraidah Lamat, the mother of the late Zara, confirmed the matter. According to Hamid, a police team from Papar came to his office to collect items such as the clothes worn by Zara on the day of the incident, along with several personal belongings. All the items were seized from an NGO that had been entrusted by Zara's family to keep them. Organised by Kelab Dua Roda Bersatu with the Anti-Drug Squad, the event promotes youth unity, anti-drug awareness, and road safety. Squad Chairman Datuk Mazlan Joehari Manan said the gathering is about more than bikes, it's a platform for change, open to all, bikers or not. With 13,000 current members, the squad aims to grow to 100,000. Highlights include anti-drug talks, a testimony by ex-addict-turned-entrepreneur 'Boss Gary,' a charity convoy to a Tuaran orphanage, and lucky draws with motorcycle prizes. Safety has been strengthened with support from police, UMS, and RELA, re-routing traffic away from residential areas. She paid the fine. Meanwhile, the Sessions Court sentenced a 50-year-old foreign woman, Lely Fiter, to three years in prison for acting as a middleperson to secure clients for Zuraini. She will be deported after serving her sentence. Both were arrested during a police raid on July 29 at an apartment in Batu 5, Sandakan. The duo charged RM150 per service, with RM100 going to Zuraini and RM50 to Lely for finding clients. Items seized included an opened condom packet, a used condom, used tissue, a mobile phone, and RM150 in cash. Zuraini admitted to committing the act due to financial hardship. The case was prosecuted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Azizi Hamil and ASP Zamri Zakaria.
