'Like wild animals!': American woman berates Oasis fans' behaviour at Heaton Park gig

Daily Mail3 days ago
An American woman caused a stir after complaining about the 'filthy' venue and 'drunk' patrons after attending an Oasis show in Manchester.
Alexis said the sold-out Oasis gig, which was attended by 80,000 people, was the 'filthiest concert' she had ever been to.
She shared her shock at the amount of 'drunkenness' in the crowd of 'wild animals', people throwing drinks, the lack of bins, and that the bar menu wasn't to her liking.
The tourist's gripes were met with a barrage of outraged comments from British Oasis fans defending UK concert culture and Manchester.
Alexis travelled to Manchester for one of the five Oasis shows at Heaton Park with her partner.
She said she knew Manchester wasn't going to be her 'favourite place' when some light research prior to her trip revealed the city didn't have a Chanel or Hermes store.
'I knew right out of the gate that it probably wasn't going to be my cup of tea,' she said.
'We spent most of the day looking for something to do and legitimately I think the only thing to do there is go to pubs and drink pints and we did that before the show.'

After 'choking down' a drink at a bar, Alexis set off to what she expected to be a 'nice concert' but had her reservations as she had been told it would not be 'civilised'.
'It was a great show but it was the dirtiest concert I have ever been to...I have never seen a more concentrated group of drunkenness,' she said.
'You go to a concert and sometimes you see maybe one or two people that are kind of like 'you've been overserved'. This was..you'd be lucky if you found two people that hadn't been overserved.'
Alexis's woes continued when she went to the bar to get a drink and was dismayed to find they were only serving beer and vodka mixers.
'They had like four things you could mix vodka with...They had Pepsi Max, which I had never even heard of,' she recalled.
'They had vodka lemonade, and when I asked what kind of lemonade it was she goes, 'Oh it's basically like a Sprite', it was a brand I've never heard of.
'I said well that's not lemonade. I got it and I asked for six limes, and I squeezed six limes in thinking that would make it a serviceable drink - it did not. I couldn't drink it.'
Because she didn't like any of the alcoholic options offered, Alexis said she was a 'sober Sally' for the evening and claims she was one of the few people not drunk at the show.
Then Alexis said she tried to find a bin to throw away her rubbish.
'I didn't want to be the riff raff that was throwing everything on the floor. I've never seen a dirtier place. I looked for a trash can, I couldn't find one,' she said.
'Finally, I did find a cluster of four trash cans. There were 80,000 people at this concert, I only saw a cluster of four trash cans the entire time I was there.'
She added that she got 'blasted' by a drink that had been thrown by another concertgoer 'because the lads were losing their minds over Oasis and launching drinks into the air like wild animals'.
Overall, Alexis said the people of Manchester were very 'friendly' but she probably won't be returning after her experience.
'Overall my review of Manchester was, the people - incredible. I love the people of Manchester, you can't find a friendlier bunch of people, probably because they're all drunk but regardless they were so nice,' she said.
'But there's not a lot to do in Manchester, I will probably never go back.'
Alexis's review of Manchester and the Oasis show has British viewers reeling and they shared their outrage in the comments.

'Imagine what she'd be like at an actual UK festival, she'd cry after half an hour,' one user replied.
'I feel like you don't get Oasis if you have a problem with this stuff,' another agreed.
'I'm furious that I couldn't get a ticket and you did,' one fan complained.
'Here's a bit of advice; do a bit of research before visiting a place. Oasis; known for the rise of laddish behaviour in the UK. Manchester; birthplace of the industrial revolution. No bins; the history of terror attacks in the UK. If you want to go shopping go to the Trafford Centre,' someone wrote.
Another added: 'Oh no, we don't attend an Oasis concert in their hometown and slag it off…people would have paid a fortune to appreciate that show.'
Some suspected the drink that hit Alexis may have contained something more sinister than beer or water.
'Is anyone going to tell her that probably wasn't a drink?' one man said.
'It's urine. I'm so sorry I've been to Liam twice and Noel once then the Oasis gig the other day it's a common occurrence unfortunately,' a second pointed out.

Ore Oduba breaks down in tears as 'ashamed and embarrassed' presenter admits he's been scammed in elaborate online hoax

TV personality Ore Oduba was reduced to tears on Sunday evening after revealing he's been duped by an elaborate online scam. Sharing a six-minute video with Instagram followers, Oduba, 39, struggled to contain his emotions while admitting he'd fallen victim to the con after scammers exploited his passion for American podcaster Mel Robbins and her series of self-help books - among them The Let Them Theory. The presenter had publicly advocated Robbins during a previous appearance on ITV show Loose Women by claiming her philosophy 'changed his life.' And Oduba - who once helped viewers avoid insurance scams as host of BBC documentary series Claimed And Shamed - says he was contacted by someone claiming to be Robbins following his appearance on the daytime panel show. He said: 'I reposted that interview, I tagged the Mel Robbins podcast, tagged the Let Me theory, tagged Mel, tagged everybody who cared, and then I got an email from my agent who forwarded on an email from the team at the Mel Robbins podcast. 'I could have cried - they knew who I was! I got an email from the Mel Robbins podcast team.' He added: 'I told Mel everything. How she had changed my life. And I literally said at the end of the email, even for you to know who I am, is everything. Thank you so much for getting in touch.' Admitting he was 'ashamed and embarrassed' by the con, a tearful Oduba recalled being invited onto the Robbins' podcast - currently among the top 15 podcasts in the United States with more than 20 million subscribers. 'I'm reading this back and I know exactly how it made me feel at the time,' he said. 'I wrote back and I said, "Mel, I'm holding back tears. Is this for real? You must have AI helping you correspond with all of these fans." 'Mel wrote back, "of course it's me - it's Mel Robbins." So then I lost my s**t, I absolutely lost my s**t, in tears on an Avanti West Coast train from Birmingham to London, thinking that my whole life was about to change. He added: 'By the way I used to host a show about scammers.I have watched enough Watchdog to last a lifetime - that doesn't stop me being in the middle of it. 'I never thought I'd be the person that would be scammed.' Oduba soon realised the email had been sent from a Gmail account - an immediate red flag - and worse, even Mel's name had been misspelt. After contacting the Robbins PR tea via her official website, the presenter's fears were confirmed when he was told that any correspondence sent from a Gmail account will be a scam. Captioning Sunday's Instagram post, he wrote: 'I'm ashamed, I'm embarrassed and I'm human. Did not think I would be the kind of person who could be scammed, but this proves it really can happen to anyone. 'Especially with the help and manipulation of AI. I'm terrified how easily I was 'hooked'. It was SO convincing, it's scary.' He added: 'I've made no secret of how much Mel Robbins, her book and podcast have helped me through a really difficult period. 'Truth is I turned an emotional blind eye to something I so deeply wanted to believe was for me and nearly got myself into a whole heap of trouble (sidenote.. I've realised in making this video how often we do the same thing in relationships too!) 'Listen to your gut, it's most likely telling you the truth. And don't get scammed, it's no fun. 'Still inspired by and love Mel Robbins and so grateful to them for their swift response. I got lucky - it could so easily have been too late.'
