'Batters should be licking their lips': Kevin Pietersen's message to India, picks England's weakness

Kevin Pietersen thinks Indian batters will be 'licking their lips' against England(Image via)
As India gears up for a high-stakes five-match Test series against England, former England star
Kevin Pietersen
has highlighted a key advantage for the visitors. In a clip posted on Delhi Capitals' X handle, Pietersen pointed out the absence of England's veteran fast bowlers Stuart Broad and James Anderson as a significant factor India can exploit.
"But I think where India should count themselves very lucky, there's no Anderson and there's no Broad. So it'll be a young bowling line-up, and if they bat well in England I think they can really put up a good Test against this England side. It'll be the first time that they play a home series in years and years and years without Broad and without Anderson. So, from an Indian's perspective, the batters should be licking their lips saying 'Let's go and bat long'.
If they bat long, they can do well," said Pietersen, who served as DC's mentor for the 2025 Indian Premier League season.
The series, which begins at Headingley, Leeds, on June 20, marks the start of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. It will be a crucial test for both teams, with India led by newly appointed Test captain Shubman Gill and vice-captain Rishabh Pant.
The absence of experienced Indian leaders Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli adds to the significance of this tour as the team looks to establish a new era in Test cricket.

Nick Knight EXCLUSIVE: On Shubman Gill and absence of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma in England
England, captained by Ben Stokes, will field a relatively young bowling attack in the absence of Broad and Anderson, which could provide India's batsmen with opportunities to build long innings. Historically, English conditions have tested even the best players, but Pietersen's comments suggest that Indian batters have a chance to capitalize and put pressure on the hosts.
Poll
Will India's batting lineup capitalize on the absence of Broad and Anderson?
Definitely
Unlikely
With fresh leadership and several new faces in the squads, this series promises to be a fascinating battle. India will be eager to end their long wait for a Test series victory in England, a feat they last achieved in 2007.
The five Tests will be played across iconic English venues including Edgbaston, Lord's, Old Trafford, and Kennington Oval.

'Aggression all the time': Gisele Bündchen's concussion claim raised new questions about Tom Brady's health and NFL transparency

Gisele Bündchen revealed Tom Brady had an unacknowledged concussion during the NFL season (Getty Images) In May 2017, a CBS interview with supermodel Gisele Bündchen sent shockwaves through the NFL . Bündchen, wife of then-New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, revealed that her husband had suffered a concussion during the previous NFL season—one that had never been publicly disclosed. Her remarks opened a fresh chapter in the ongoing debate over player safety, transparency, and the long-term risks of head trauma in professional football. Gisele Bündchen's revelation sparked controversy over NFL concussion reporting 'He had a concussion last year. He has concussions pretty much every ... I mean, we don't talk about it. He does have concussions,' Bündchen said on CBS This Morning. She also expressed concern about the physical toll football takes on athletes, adding, 'I don't really think it's a healthy thing for a body to go through that kind of aggression all the time.' Her comments immediately raised eyebrows—not just because of the health concerns, but because the Patriots had never reported Brady as having suffered a concussion that season. If her claims were true, it raised serious questions about whether NFL teams were failing to follow concussion protocol or suppressing injury information altogether. Despite concerns, Tom Brady stayed committed to playing into his 40s At the time, Brady, approaching 40 years old, had no plans to slow down. In fact, he told CBS that his wife had encouraged him to retire: 'If it was up to my wife, she would have me retire today. She told me that last night three times.' Bündchen echoed that sentiment, saying, 'I'm planning on having him be healthy and do a lot of fun things when we're like 100, I hope.' The Patriots never confirmed or denied the claims, and Brady's name never appeared on the injury report for a concussion that year. The incident, however, reignited concerns about the NFL's handling of traumatic brain injuries—especially following the tragic deaths of players like Junior Seau, who suffered from CTE. Yes, she mentioned it during a CBS interview, despite no official report from the Patriots. 2. Was Tom Brady's concussion ever confirmed by the NFL or the Patriots? No, the Patriots never listed Brady with a concussion that season. For real-time updates, scores, and highlights, follow our live coverage of the India vs England Test match here. New York Knicks remain interested in free agent Ben Simmons as teams await his final decision in free agency

New York Knicks are interested in Ben Simmons (Image via Instagram / @bensimmons) According to reports, the New York Knicks are still considering Ben Simmons. The Knicks are still in the running for guard/forward Ben Simmons, a free agent, according to Ian Begley of SNY. He recently claimed that New York's overall salary cap of $207.8 million will reportedly allow the team to sign a rookie free agent and a veteran to a minimum contract. New York Knicks eye Ben Simmons for final roster spot amid limited free agency options This time of year, there aren't many storylines in the NBA summer. However, the NBA front offices are still working to improve the roster. The coaching staff of the New York Knicks has already undergone significant changes. Ian Begley of SNY recently reported that three-time All-Star Ben Simmons, who is still unsigned in free agency, is now getting a lot of interest from the New York Knicks. After playing for the Philadelphia 76ers for four seasons, the Brooklyn Nets for three, and the Los Angeles Clippers for a half-year, he is making his first foray into free agency. Stating the same, Ian Begley said: 'Ben Simmons is certainly a candidate for the Knicks' final roster spot. As of earlier this week, New York continued to show strong interest in signing Simmons as teams in on Simmons await his decision. He's garnered interest from several teams around the league. The Knicks also have maintained interest in Landry Shamet for that final roster spot..' Ben Simmons is looking for a team (Image via Instagram / @bensimmons) As per the same report, the competing teams are awaiting his decision. Ben Simmons' addition to the New York Knicks has some advantages. He is quite large and has significant defensive activity. Despite his offensive shortcomings, he is still a skilled passer, especially when the floor is open. However, he might not feel the need to join the team after earning more than $203 million in his NBA career to date. Furthermore, he probably would have signed by now if he had received stronger contractual offers. His choices are limited since the teams have already spent all of their money, but the New York Knicks are still interested in him.
