City Mosques Gearing Up For Aidiladha Sacrificial Ritual
Every detail, from logistics to personnel involved, is thoroughly examined to ensure the ritual is carried out smoothly and in compliance with religious requirements.
Imam of Masjid Negara (National Mosque) Mohd Nadzri Mustakim said that they prioritise the health of staff members involved in the process to ensure a smooth and safe slaughter ritual.
'…we designate spots to carry out the slaughtering, maintain the tools, obtain permits for cattle and goats, and clean the surrounding areas. The main prayer hall has also been prepared to accommodate the congregants,' he told Bernama.
Mohd Nadzri stated that the management strives to adhere to the standard operating procedures set by the religious authorities, including the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM).
He said the sacrificial ritual at Masjid Negara will be carried out over two days, with 19 goats and sheep to be slaughtered after the special prayer tomorrow, while 10 cattle will be sacrificed on Sunday starting at 8 am.
Masjid Amru Ibni Al-'As in Bandar Baru Sentul, near here, is set to slaughter 10 cattle, specially ordered from Kelantan, according to its Imam, Zulfahmi Samsudin.
He said the mosque management has set up teams to ensure the smooth running of the sacrificial ritual, including a technical team in collaboration with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and other agencies.
He added that the mosque will host a feast tonight to celebrate congregants observing the fast in conjunction with Wukuf Day.

On Friday, NRES also organised the KAM Semarak Desa programme at Kampung Nangka Siam, offering various community engagement activities and services. The event, officiated by NRES secretary-general Datuk Dr Ching Thoo a/l Kim, featured cultural performances such as Siamese dance, silat, and muay thai, along with service counters from the Health Ministry, National Registration Department, Road Transport Department, and Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad, as well as an elephant show by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks. The KAM initiative is supported by a whole-of-government approach, involving several agencies, including the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, Kedah Federal Development Office, Tenaga Nasional Berhad, and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission. It aims to uplift the well-being of rural communities by improving basic infrastructure and addressing local development challenges. Under the SAM programme, the RM100,000 allocation for SKPA will fund the maintenance of classroom facilities and support the implementation of a smart classroom, as well as Digital Learning Enhancement activities to equip students with relevant digital skills.

SEREMBAN: A six-year-old boy, D. Devakshean, has made history by identifying 65 different currencies from around the world in just one minute, earning him a place in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR). His achievement, recognised as 'Most Foreign Currencies Identified by a Child in One Minute,' highlights his extraordinary memory and learning abilities. Devakshean's mother, G. Devamalar, 37, shared that his fascination with national flags began when he was just one year old. By the age of two, he could already name over 200 countries and cities. 'His memory is exceptional—whatever we show him, he remembers. Not just flags and currencies, but many other things too,' she said after the MBR certificate presentation by representative V. Menaga. The young prodigy's parents have nurtured his interests without pressure. 'He loves watching educational content on YouTube, where he learns independently. He prefers reading and learning over playing—it's his passion,' Devamalar explained. The family spent a month preparing before applying for MBR recognition this year. Devakshean, born on September 10, 2019, enjoys Mathematics, English, and Science and dreams of becoming a firefighter. UMS Students Gain Experience As Volunteers At Borneo Flora Festival
LABUAN, July 27 (Bernama) -- About 100 Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) students are gaining hands-on experience as volunteers at the five-day Borneo Flora Festival (BFF) 2025, which began yesterday. First-year student Muhd Alif Hazim, 21, from the university's main campus, said he travelled to Labuan specifically to volunteer at the inaugural festival. 'This is the biggest event I've joined this year. I wanted to improve my communication skills and meet new people,' said the Computer Science (Data Science) student. He said the Borneo Tropical Flora and the Borneo Rainforest Jewel exhibitions drew strong interest from visitors on the first day, particularly for showcasing various floral species, including tulips, sunflowers, pohon pontianak, and orchids. Siti Aisyah Masyop, 23, a student from the Faculty of Computing and Informatics, said this was her first volunteer experience and an opportunity to gain new knowledge and interact with the public. The Selangor-born student said their tasks included giving directions and assisting visitors with taking photographs. 'Visitors have been friendly and we always ask if they need any help. With the large crowd, some may be unsure of where to go,' she said. Third-year student Anne Roza Robin, 22, from the Faculty of International Finance, said she had been involved in the festival since its initial flower-planting phase. Hailing from Keningau, she described the experience as meaningful, especially in preparing herself for the working world.
