Did Caitlin Clark leave the WNBA? Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White addresses latest WNBA defeat to Atlanta Dream
As the 2025 WNBA season progresses, Clark missed her fifth consecutive game on Tuesday night as the Fever were defeated 58-77 by Atlanta Dream.
Despite her absence, Clark's impact is still being felt, with her impressive early-season performance still fresh in the minds of fans and analysts alike.
In the four games she played, Clark averaged 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 9.3 assists, solidifying her status as one of the league's MVP frontrunners.
Fever head coach Stephanie White addressed her team's lack of physicality, especially in the absence of Caitlin Clark, as a concern.
"Their physicality on the defensive end really affected us," White said. "It took us out of what we wanted to do and forced us to rush offensively. They've got really good shifty guards that can get downhill and and we didn't do a good job of guarding our yard or being in rotation."
Hours before Tuesday's matchup, the WNBA made a significant announcement: Clark's backcourt partner, Kelsey Mitchell, had been named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.
Mitchell's stellar performance helped the Fever remain competitive, even without Clark in the lineup. The guard averaged 20.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists over the past week, leading Indiana to a perfect 2-0 record.
The league shared the news on social media, highlighting Mitchell's exceptional contributions: 'For the first time this season, Kelsey Mitchell is named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.'
Mitchell has truly stepped up in Clark's absence, particularly in the Fever's victories over the Washington Mystics (85-76) and the Chicago Sky (79-52).
Clark's response to Mitchell's achievement was brief but telling. She reposted the announcement on her Instagram story, with no accompanying words, letting the accomplishment speak for itself.
Mitchell, drafted No. 2 overall by the Fever in the 2018 WNBA Draft, has been a staple of the team throughout her career.
This season, she is playing under a one-year, $249,244 contract, the highest salary in the league. Mitchell's impressive resume includes two WNBA All-Star selections and a place on the All-Rookie Team in her first season.

Brazil ease past Paraguay 4-1 to reach Women's Copa America semis
Yasmim scored twice in the first half as defending champions Brazil reached the Women's Copa America semi-finals with a 4-1 victory over Group B rivals Paraguay in Quito on Tuesday. Yasmim opened the scoring in the 27th minute with a curling free kick that nestled inside the far post and she doubled Brazil's lead 12 minutes later with an almost identical effort, catching the Paraguayan keeper off guard once again. Brazil goalkeeper Lorena produced a superb save to deny a long-range strike from Claudia Martinez before Paraguay's Camila Arrieta was sent off after receiving a second yellow card for a foul on captain Marta. Brazil made their numerical advantage count with Amanda Gutierres making it 3–0 on the hour mark but a lapse in defence allowed Paraguay to pull one back in the 65th minute through the tournament's leading scorer Martinez, who notched her fifth goal of the competition. However, any hopes of a comeback were short-lived as Duda Sampaio restored Brazil's three-goal lead with a composed finish in the 75th minute. 'I'm very happy for the goals but above all for the result and for the victory,' Yasmim said at the Estadio Gonzalo Pozo Ripalda. Barcelona set for historic All-Star clash with Liga MX Femenil's finest 'We are very happy for the qualification to the semis. We have many aspects that we know we can improve. We have to keep working and giving our all for this shirt.' Brazil remain unbeaten in Group B and will face Colombia in their final group-stage fixture on Friday - a rematch of the previous edition's final. 'Colombia are a very strong team, we know it will be difficult,' Yasmim added. 'This match is like a derby, we have to prepare ourselves in the best way to face them.'

WNBA players demand fair pay during All-Star Game with protest shirts and strong CBA negotiation turnout
The 2025 WNBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis wasn't just a showcase of elite talent—it became a stage for protest. Before tipoff, players from both teams walked onto the court in black shirts reading, 'Pay Us What You Owe Us,' signaling dissatisfaction with the league's handling of labor negotiations. 'That's something we wanted to make well known,' WNBPA president Nneka Ogwumike said. 'In the bubble, we always knew how to make a stand with some T-shirts, so we did that today. We look forward to negotiating our fair share and our value.' With the current collective bargaining agreement set to expire at the end of the 2025 season, a key agenda item during All-Star weekend was a long-anticipated face-to-face meeting between players and league officials. According to multiple players, the meeting was frustrating and marked by a lack of progress. "That's one of the things we're in the room fighting for," said Caitlin Clark ahead of the game. 'We should be paid more, and hopefully that's the case moving forward as the league continues to grow.' Clark noted that over 40 players attended the meeting—a mix of emerging stars and veterans alike. "That was the best part of it," she said. "I think we all understand how crucial this is for our careers and for shaping the future of the league." Fellow All-Star team captain Napheesa Collier echoed Clark's stance, calling it 'the most participation in league history.' As Collier put it, 'We're standing really firm on certain areas we feel strongly need to improve'—a message the league can no longer ignore.
