Expect More of Benjamin Bratt's Bail Organa Next Week, Says Andor Creator

Geek Feed05-05-2025
There was a lot of buzz about Benjamin Bratt replacing Jimmy Smits as Bail Organa in Andor , and after the recent episode drop, some fans are wondering why he would show up for just a small cameo. As it turns out, the series has bigger plans for him.
Talking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Tony Gilroy confirms that Bratt's main role as a representative of Alderaan hasn't come yet, and they made him appear earlier so fans could 'get it out of their system' by the time he takes the center stage. Gilroy explains:
'I put him in episode 6 in an arbitrary way so people will get the conversation out of the way until the next week when he really starts to work. It's one of those situations where I want to do something simple. We don't do many things that are unnecessary, but it's like, 'Let's get him in here now so people can discuss it for a week and get it out of their system and then he can come back to really work.' I didn't want the guy's work to be confused with his introduction.'
Though he only had a small cameo this week, Bail Organa is set to make an appearance at the Senate, and this will probably be around the time we should expect Mon Mothma to make a public claim of renouncing the Emperor which she does in Rebels.
Since this is Andor though, I'm sure they're going to give her a different speech that captures the same message for Star Wars fans.
Admittedly, it's a shame that Bail can't be reprised by Smits for a show that's actually critically acclaimed, but I think Bratt's doing a fine job—even for just the small appearance he's had so far.
Catch the next arc for Andor when it comes out next week.

Jurassic World Rebirth D-Rex Based on Classic Star Wars Monster

Every Jurassic movie kind of has to introduce a new kind of dinosaur, and with the recent Jurassic World Rebirth , the film introduces a new mutant dino in the form of the D-Rex. As it turns out, director Gareth Edwards actually took some inspiration from a classic Star Wars monster to give the creature its final look. In a recent interview with Collider, Edwards confirms that the D-Rex is partly inspired from the Rancor in Return of the Jedi . He says: 'Basically, you took everything in a melting pot. It's really hard to come up with a monster idea. We put in a little bit of the Rancor from Star Wars. Don't tell people who work on Star Wars.' For context, the Rancor is the creature that lives in Jabba's Palace and was killed when Jabba tried to feed Luke to it; they also made an appearance in The Book of Boba Fett . Of course, the Rancor wasn't the only thing that inspired the D-Rex; the classic T-Rex is still in its DNA, and Edwards also confirmed that there's some inspiration from H.R. Geiger's designs for Alien . Edwards also asked the designers to have a look at David Lynch's Elephant Man to give the D-Rex a kind of 'suffering monster' feel. Some are actually speculating that Edwards wanted to put a Rancor in Rogue One , but just couldn't find a way to until he needed a giant monster for Jurassic World . Admittedly, Jurassic World Rebirth didn't get the most sparkling reviews, but the movie is still tearing it up in cinemas. I guess people just love to watch dinosaurs regardless of what the critics say. Catch Jurassic World Rebirth now screening in theaters.

Is Anyone Even Excited for an Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2?

Star Wars fans were left with a high with the end of Andor Season 2, and a lot of people are wondering what Lucasfilm is going to be delivering next on their movie or TV slate. We know that some films are underway, but there is a rumor going around that a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi is in the works… but does anyone even care about that anymore? 'OBI-WAN KENOBI' Season 2 is reportedly in development (via: @DanielRPK) — ScreenTime (@screentime) June 30, 2025 In the comments about a possible Season 2 of Kenobi in the works, people have just been talking about, 'more slop incoming,' and my favorite take: — Denis B. Huppert 🇫🇷 (@dennisbhooper) July 1, 2025 Looking back, Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Book of Boba Fett were considered low points for Star Wars television. Besides the lackluster storytelling, the series had been criticized for leaning too heavily on nostalgia and familiar characters rather than actually telling a compelling, character-driven story. In the series' defense, Kenobi did end with a cliffhanger teasing more things to come for Ben Kenobi, and both Kenobi and Boba Fett were originally planned to be theatrically released films before they were retooled to be Disney+ shows. As someone who deeply enjoyed Solo: A Star Wars Story, I would prefer if they turned this Kenobi follow-up into a movie; but even at this point, we don't know for sure if Lucasfilm really is planning something. I would rather just get a new season confirmed for The Acolyte or Skeleton Crew . Should Ewan McGregor come back as Obi-Wan, it would have to be on the big screen . At least, that's my opinion. For now, catch Obi-Wan Kenobi now streaming on Disney+.
