'Superman' box office collection Day 5: James Gunn's superhero film crosses Rs 30 crore mark in India

James Gunn's Superman is maintaining a steady run at the Indian box office. The film starring David Corenswet in the lead, has finally crossed the Rs 30 crore mark, after five days in theatres. The film that saw a huge dip in numbers on its first Monday at the box office managed to regain a steady footing on Tuesday. According to early estimates on Sacnilk, the film earned around Rs 2.75 crore, from all languages, thus marking a slight growth from its Monday collection of Rs 2.3 crore. With this, the film's total India net collection now stands at an estimated Rs 31.05 crore net. The DC reboot had an impressive opening weekend, collecting Rs 28.3 crore in its first four days. It made its box office debut, earning Rs 7 crore on Friday and earned its highest income on Saturday, scoring a total collection of Rs 9.5 crore. The numbers began to dip on Sunday, with the movie earning an estimated Rs 9.25 crore. Despite the good numbers, the film fell far short of the predicted Rs 40 crore weekend. According to reports, the movie was expected to dethrone Scarlett Johansson 's Jurassic World Rebirth and Tom Cruise 's Mission: Impossible to earn the title of the highest-earning Hollywood release at the Indian box office. While Superman is putting up a respectable performance, it continues to face tough competition from Jurassic World Rebirth, which is stomping its way to the Rs 80 crore mark. Despite mixed global reception and overseas competition, the superhero film that is the first part of the new DC saga is reportedly cashing in on revenue generated in Metro Cities. Reports state that the English version has contributed a significant chunk of the overall revenue, estimated to be around Rs 19.97 crore. Directed by James Gunn, the film features an ensemble cast including Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult , Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, and Anthony Carrigan.
