Google Launches AI Mode in India to Tackle Complex Search Queries

Despite its promise, Google acknowledges that AI Mode is still in its early stages and may not always produce accurate results
You're reading Entrepreneur India, an international franchise of Entrepreneur Media.
Google has launched its experimental 'AI Mode' in India, a new feature within Search aimed at helping users tackle more complex, multi-layered questions with the support of artificial intelligence (AI). Initially introduced in the United States earlier this year and rolled out to a broader audience during Google I/O 2025 (annual event), the tool is now available in India through Search Labs, with support in English.
The feature builds on Google's existing AI Overviews and is powered by a custom version of Gemini 2.5. Unlike traditional search, AI Mode enables users to pose longer, more exploratory queries often two to three times the length of standard searches and receive context-rich, synthesised responses. Also, these answers are supported by links to relevant web pages for further reading.
What's query fan-out?
One of the key functions of AI Mode is its use of a method known as "query fan-out," which allows the system to break down complex questions into subtopics and issue multiple searches simultaneously. This enables more comprehensive responses that draw from deeper parts of the web. For example, users can seek guidance on planning a trip, comparing products, or navigating nuanced parenting or health concerns, with the ability to follow up with additional, refined queries.
Voice input and image search
Google is also making the experience multimodal, allowing users to interact not just through text but also via voice input and images. With India leading in the use of Google Lens globally, AI Mode integrates visual search capabilities, enabling users to ask questions about photos they take or upload for instance, identifying a plant and receiving step-by-step care instructions. Users can continue the conversation with follow-up queries, maintaining context throughout.
While AI Mode offers responses generated through advanced language models, it is anchored by Google's existing information systems, including the Knowledge Graph and real-time product and shopping data. In scenarios where the AI response lacks sufficient confidence, the system defaults to standard web search results.
The rollout in India is being framed as an experiment to understand user behaviour and improve the feature based on local needs and feedback. According to Google, AI Overviews, a precursor to AI Mode, are already used by more than 1.5 billion people each month and have driven increased engagement, especially in markets like the U.S. and India.
Despite its promise, Google acknowledges that AI Mode is still in its early stages and may not always produce accurate results. The experimental rollout is intended to support iterative improvements while maintaining a commitment to surfacing high-quality web content.

5 Artificial Intelligence (AI) Stocks Are Worth Over $2 Trillion. Here Are the 2 Most Likely to Join the Club Next.

Nvidia, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, and Alphabet make up the $2 trillion club right now. Meta Platforms and Broadcom could be the next to join the club. These two AI stocks could be volatile over the near term but should benefit tremendously from a big long-term AI tailwind. These 10 stocks could mint the next wave of millionaires › The smaller the circle, the harder it is to get inside it. One of the most exclusive circles of all is what some investment writers (including me) call the "$2 trillion club." To be a member, a company must have a market cap of at least $2 trillion. If a company has its sights set on gaining admission to the $2 trillion club, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) is probably a smart move. All five of the current members invest heavily in AI. And two AI stocks are the most likely contenders to join the club next. Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) and Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) have jockeyed back and forth to be the largest company in the world. Nvidia currently holds the title, with a market cap of nearly $3.8 trillion. Microsoft is breathing down Nvidia's neck, though, with a market cap of nearly $3.7 trillion. Both companies are leaders in the AI arena. Nvidia's graphics processing units (GPUs) remain the gold standard to power servers used to build and deploy AI models. Microsoft's integration with OpenAI's GPT throughout its product suite and cloud platform has been a game-changer for the tech giant. For years, Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) reigned as the world's biggest company. However, the iPhone maker now holds the No. 3 spot, with a market cap of a little over $3 trillion. While Apple has significant AI expertise, its perceived slowness in rolling out generative AI (genAI) capabilities, along with the lackluster response to the genAI functionality it ultimately did launch, has allowed Nvidia and Microsoft to leapfrog it. Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) claims the No. 4 position, with a market cap of nearly $2.3 trillion. The e-commerce leader is also the cloud services leader, with Amazon Web Services (AWS) commanding a significant advantage in market share among cloud services providers. AWS' AI offerings have helped it stay at the top, even with other cloud companies gaining ground. One of those rising cloud stars is Google parent Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG) (NASDAQ: GOOGL). Google Cloud is the fastest-growing major cloud service provider. Google Search has also introduced generative AI functionality, such as AI Overviews and AI Mode. In addition, Alphabet's Waymo unit is the leader in autonomous ride-hailing, which relies heavily on AI. The two companies that trail behind Nvidia, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, and Alphabet are also, not so coincidentally, AI leaders. Both are the clear favorites at this point to be the next members of the $2 trillion club. Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) is already knocking at the door, with its market cap approaching $1.8 trillion. All the stock needs is a gain of 23.5% or so to take its place alongside the other five AI stocks. That might not prove to be too difficult. Meta's shares are up more than 20% year to date. Some have criticized Meta's AI efforts. However, the company is using AI extensively internally to recommend content to users of its apps and help advertisers. Its Meta AI large language model (LLM) has almost 1 billion active monthly users. Meta is also a leader in AI-powered smart glasses. Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO) has a steeper climb than Meta does to join the $2 trillion club. With a market cap of $1.24 trillion, the chipmaker's share price would have to jump by more than 60% to become a member. Broadcom stock has risen around 14% so far in 2025. AI networking presents a tremendous growth opportunity for Broadcom. Its AI revenue soared 46% year over year to $4.4 billion in the second quarter of 2025, with AI networking making up 40% of the total. Broadcom CEO Hock Tan said on the company's fiscal Q2 earnings call that he expects the demand for AI accelerators to increase in the coming quarters. I think both of these prospective $2 trillion club members are smart picks for long-term investors to buy now. Granted, Meta and Broadcom could be volatile over the near term. Meta faces some regulatory issues in Europe. Broadcom's valuation is sky-high, with shares trading at more than 40 times forward earnings. If you're patient, though, I expect both companies to continue to benefit from major AI tailwinds. Ever feel like you missed the boat in buying the most successful stocks? Then you'll want to hear this. On rare occasions, our expert team of analysts issues a 'Double Down' stock recommendation for companies that they think are about to pop. If you're worried you've already missed your chance to invest, now is the best time to buy before it's too late. And the numbers speak for themselves: Nvidia: if you invested $1,000 when we doubled down in 2009, you'd have $409,114!* Apple: if you invested $1,000 when we doubled down in 2008, you'd have $38,173!* Netflix: if you invested $1,000 when we doubled down in 2004, you'd have $713,547!* Right now, we're issuing 'Double Down' alerts for three incredible companies, available when you join , and there may not be another chance like this anytime soon.*Stock Advisor returns as of June 23, 2025 John Mackey, former CEO of Whole Foods Market, an Amazon subsidiary, is a member of The Motley Fool's board of directors. Can Microsoft Join the $4 Trillion Club in 2025?

Microsoft stock only needs to gain another 8.3% for the company to become the founding member of the $4 trillion club. Microsoft has become a leader in artificial intelligence (AI) thanks to products like Copilot and Azure AI. Investors are paying a premium for Microsoft stock right now, and it could be poised for solid growth in the remainder of 2025. 10 stocks we like better than Microsoft › Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) had a market capitalization of $3.695 trillion as of Friday morning. That means its stock only needs to climb by another 8.3% for the company to become the founding member of the $4 trillion club, which I think is a very strong possibility by the end of 2025 (although Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) with its $3.835 trillion market cap could get there first). Artificial intelligence (AI) has been the primary driver of Microsoft's increasing value over the last couple of years. The company is approaching this lucrative opportunity from several different angles, and it has already become an industry leader in the software and cloud segments. Here's why AI could be Microsoft's ticket to a $4 trillion valuation this year. Microsoft has invested around $14 billion in ChatGPT creator OpenAI since 2019, and it has combined the start-up's industry-leading AI models with its own to create the Copilot virtual assistant. Copilot is accessible for free in some of Microsoft's flagship software (like Windows, Edge, and Bing), but it's also available as a paid tool in several products, like the following: 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint): Enterprises can add Copilot for an additional monthly subscription fee to boost the productivity of their employees. In the fiscal 2025 third quarter (ended March 31), Microsoft said the number of organizations using Copilot for 365 tripled year over year to the hundreds of thousands. Copilot Studio: This platform allows enterprises to create custom AI agents and deploy them into the software applications they use each day to boost productivity, and it already has over 230,000 customers. Dragon Copilot: This is a solution for the healthcare industry, which can autonomously transcribe conversations between doctors and their patients, rapidly generate referral letters, and even summarize diagnosis evidence to help improve outcomes. But Copilot isn't the only revenue-generating AI product in Microsoft's portfolio because the company operates one of the world's largest cloud computing platforms called Azure, which now offers a suite of AI products and services under the Azure AI banner. Azure AI leases state-of-the-art data center infrastructure to businesses, which is fitted with the latest AI chips from suppliers like Nvidia. It also offers access to ready-made large language models (LLMs) from the likes of OpenAI, which developers can use to accelerate their AI software projects. Azure is often the fastest-growing part of Microsoft's entire organization, but it might have lost that title recently if not for Azure AI. A little less than two years ago, Azure AI accounted for just five percentage points of Azure's quarterly revenue growth. In the recent fiscal 2025 third quarter, it represented 16 percentage points, meaning it accounted for almost half of Azure's overall growth. The contribution from Azure AI is likely to increase further from here because Microsoft CFO Amy Hood says the segment has a staggering $315 billion order backlog from AI customers who are waiting for more data center capacity to come online. Microsoft is building more data centers as fast as it can, and it opened new ones in 10 different countries during the last quarter alone. In fact, the company is on track to have spent over $80 billion building AI infrastructure during fiscal 2025, which ends on June 30. Management's guidance suggests that the figure is likely to grow in fiscal 2026, which isn't a surprise, given the size of the opportunity ahead. Based on Microsoft's trailing 12-month earnings per share (EPS), its stock is trading at a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 38.2. That's 14% higher than its five-year average of 33.4, which suggests investors are willing to pay a premium for the stock at the moment: Microsoft's fiscal year 2026 begins on July 1, and Wall Street's consensus estimate (provided by Yahoo! Finance) suggests the company could deliver $15.14 in EPS, which would represent growth of over 13%. That places its stock at a forward P/E ratio of 32.6. That means Microsoft stock would have to climb by around 17% over the next 12 months in order to maintain its current P/E ratio of 38.2, which is a fair assumption given the strength of its AI business. If the company delivers strong earnings during the first two quarters of fiscal 2026 (which fall in calendar year 2025), then investors might start pricing in the full-year result early -- especially considering that the stock market is a forward-looking machine. In other words, it's possible Microsoft stock will deliver the majority of that 17% in potential upside in the next six months or so. Remember, it only needs a gain of 8.3% for the company's valuation to hit $4 trillion, so it could certainly achieve the milestone before 2025 is over.
