Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.46% in a weak market

The Nifty IT index was down 0.46 per cent at 36968.1 at the time of writing this report. Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 171.46 points at 24940.0, while the BSE Sensex was down 573.22 points at 81686.02. Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 7 were trading in the green, while 43 were in the red.

Force Motors share price today Shares of Force Motors hit a new high of ₹20,563, soaring 20 per cent on the BSE in Thursday's intra-day trade in an otherwise subdued market after the company reported healthy June quarter earnings (Q1FY26). In comparison, the BSE Sensex was down 0.28 per cent at 82,492 at 10:02 AM. In the past one month, the stock price of Force Motors has rallied 50 per cent, as compared to 0.54 per cent rise in the BSE Sensex. Thus far in the calendar year 2025 (CY25), the stock price of the smallcap automobile company has zoomed 216 per cent, as against 5 per cent gain in the benchmark index. Force Motors Q1 results For Q1FY26, Force Motors reported 54 per cent year-on-year (YoY) jump in standalone profit before tax (PBT) at ₹286.54 crore. The company had posted PBT of ₹185.66 crore in the same quarter last fiscal. Revenue from operations grew 21.9 per cent YoY at ₹2,297 crore. Profit after tax increased 55 per cent to ₹185.22 crore from ₹119.59 crore. In Q1FY26, the company's domestic sales jumped 26.14 per cent to 9,013 units, as against 7,145 units sold in Q1FY25. What's driving the stock price of Force Motors? Since March 27, the stock price Force Motors has appreciated by 135 per cent after the company in an exchange filing said it has to deliver 2,978 Force Gurkha light vehicles (GS 4X4 800 kg Soft Top) to the Indian Defence Forces. These vehicles are tailored to meet the diverse operational requirements of both the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force, showcasing Force Motors' capability to deliver mission-ready vehicles designed to perform in demanding defence environments, Force Motors said. Force Motors has been catering to the defence sector for many years through its Gurkha LSV (Light Strike Vehicle), a vehicle renowned for its durability, off-road prowess, and adaptability. Force Motors - Outlook Force Motors' leading position in the domestic light commercial vehicle (LCV) passenger segment, presence across multi-utility vehicles (MUVs) and sports utility vehicle (SUVs) segments, and well-established position in the automotive component business with long standing relationships with reputed original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) resulting in a diversified revenue stream. The company focuses on the niche passenger segment of LCV. In the LCV school bus and ambulance segment, the company has a market share of 70-75 per cent. Force Motors will continue to benefit from its niche positioning in the automotive OEM market, supported by the steady launch of new products and variants and rise in demand in the LCV segment, according to Crisil Ratings. At 10:34 AM, Mukand share price was trading 10.50 per cent higher at ₹149.90. In comparison, BSE Sensex was trading 0.23 per cent lower at 82,538.32 levels. Mukand shares surged after the company announced the execution of an agreement for sale on July 23, 2025, for monetising land assets in Thane district. In an exchange filing, Mukand said, 'We wish to inform you that the Company has executed an Agreement for Sale on July 23, 2025 for the sale of land parcels admeasuring approximately 17.77 acres together with 50 per cent undivided right, title and interest in the access road admeasuring approximately 2.73 acres and for the grant of a perpetual non-exclusive right of way over a land parcel admeasuring 0.16 acres or thereabouts situated at Kalwe and Dighe, in Thane district for a consideration of not less than 86,980 per sq. mtr. aggregating to approximately ₹673 crore and has received an advance of ₹110 crore from the purchaser.' The sale is subject to various approvals from the Government of Maharashtra, Collector of Thane, Gram Panchayat and other authorities, and hinges on due diligence clearance. The company also clarified that the transaction is not expected to affect its operations and does not fall under the scope of section 180(1)(a) of the Companies Act, 2013. Tilaknagar Industries shares hit life-high on Imperial Blue business deal
Shares of Tilaknagar Industries rose nearly 5 per cent to a fresh record high on Thursday after it announced the acquisition of Imperial Blue business division for an enterprise value of ₹4,150 crore. The breweries and distilleries stock rose as much as 4.9 per cent during the day to a life-high of ₹496.5 per share. The stock pared gains to trade 1 per cent higher at ₹479 apiece, compared to a 0.02 per cent decline in Nifty 50 as of 10:40 AM. Shares of the company advanced for teh ninth straight session and are up nearly 45 per cent in the process. The counter has risen 12 per cent this year, compared to a 6.5 per cent advance in the benchmark Nifty 50. Tilaknagar Industries has a total market capitalisation of ₹9,240.07 crore. Track LIVE Stock Market Updates Tilaknagar Industries to acquire Imperial Blue business The company entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the Imperial Blue business division from Pernod Ricard India via slump sale for a lump-sum consideration of 412.6 million euro (approximately ₹4,150 crore as on date), according to an exchange filing. The consideration includes a deferred payment of ₹282 crore, to be paid four years after the closure of the transaction. Imperial Blue will act as Tilaknagar Industries' launchpad for a significant whisky premiumisation journey, enabling the company to build a strong whisky portfolio across premium price points. 'We're excited to build on Imperial Blue's strong foundation and take it to new heights,' Amit Dahanukar, chairman and managing director of Tilaknagar Industries said. Imperial Blue is the third-largest whisky brand in India by volume, with over 25 years of brand heritage. The underlying business reported revenue of Rs 3,067 crore for the year ended March 2025, the company said in its release. The transaction is subject to approval from the Competition Commission of India, with closure anticipated in about six months from the signing of the definitive agreement. Clarification in Andhra liquor scam Shares of Tilaknagar saw some selling pressure on Monday, amid media reports that it is among a dozen alcohol firms that have been named in Andhra Pradesh liquor scam.
