Wrexham star forced to undergo surgery and banned from flying back from New Zealand tour
NHS has warned of lengthy waiting time for recovery WREX APPEAL Wrexham star forced to undergo surgery and banned from flying back from New Zealand tour Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) JACK MARRIOTT could miss the start of Wrexham's season after having his appendix removed. The 30-year-old striker is currently with Phil Parkinson's side for their pre-season tour of Australia and New Zealand. He is unable to fly after going under the knife, with official NHS advice recommending a rest period of at least two weeks post-surgery – and even longer for active sportsmen. Marriott, who featured in friendlies against Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC, will now miss Wrexham's final match against Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand. He will also be unable to jet back to Wales with his teammates until he has made a full recovery. And Marriott is now in a race against time to be fit for Wrexham's crunch Championship opener against Southampton on August 9. He's not the only star to have suffered away from home, with Ollie Rathbone picking up an ankle injury in the 2-1 defeat to Sydney. Boss Parkinson groaned: 'Jack is in hospital, he has had his appendix out this morning so we are a bit short in terms of our strikers department since we have been over here. "Hopefully the operation has gone well but it looks like he is going to have to stay over here longer because he won't be able to fly back. "Over the course of a trip like this, you expect a couple of injuries but I'm obviously disappointed with those two. "Particularly Ollie because we know once Jack has got the operation done, it won't be long before he's back.' Wrexham stars celebrate in iconic Las Vegas casino and hijack luggage cart after Hollywood owners splash £500k on party Marriott's potential absence would be a huge blow for Ryan Reynolds' Hollywood side, with the forward having fought back from a broken leg last October. Fan favourite Paul Mullin has been loaned to Wigan after a rapid fall from grace, while fellow strikers Steven Fletcher and Sam Dalby have also been given the boot. It leaves new signing Ryan Hardie, Jay Rodriguez and Sam Smith as Wrexham's attacking options alongside veteran Ollie Palmer. Meanwhile, Wrexham are close to signing Kiwi international Liberato Cacace from Italian side Empoli. They also agreed a record £5million move for Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O'Brien earlier this month. But SunSport exclusively revealed that his salary demands were holding up a move, with no breakthrough found so far.

The beloved BBC host announced on Instagram that he's embarking on an exciting new venture, starring in Channel 5's upcoming series Coastal Adventures alongside Helen Skelton and JB Gill, reports the Express. The show kicked off on 15th July, with viewers already able to stream the first episode. Jules shared a sneak peek trailer on his Instagram, writing: "Ahoy there! ! For much of this year, myself and my wonderful chums Helen Skelton and JB Gill have been out and about exploring our magical coastlines for our BRAND NEW 8-part series, Coastal Adventures with Helen, Jules and JB. "Starts [July 15] at 8pm on @channel5_tv. We'd love love love you to join us and share our maritime mischief!" The announcement was met with enthusiasm from fans in the comments section, with one expressing: "Aww, one of my dreams Jules! Visit UK and the amazing countryside and the coastlines. I will try to watch it here in Australia." Another fan commented: "Brilliant... really looking forward to it." A third inquired: "Is this on BritBox? We're in Michigan and watch every Escape - but would love to catch your coastline show. Please tell us how!" Helen also spread the word on her own Instagram, posting: "Filmed a new series earlier this year... It's a celebration of the British coastline and hopefully will give you some ideas of places to explore close to home. "Grateful to be working with such a top time. It's on [July 15] 8pm, expect some coastal spam!" The opening episode witnesses Helen plunging 4,500 feet down Britain's most profound mine, whilst JB discovers the peculiar splendour of Dungeness. Meanwhile, Jules makes his way to Devon to embark from Salcombe. It appears as though the TV star is not slowing down any time soon as he also continues to film for Escape to the Country. He recently told his followers that he would be househunting somewhere the show had never been to before. "Well folks, I'm shooting another episode of Escape to the Country this week, but I am SO excited to be somewhere the show has never ever been before," he said. "If you look at that coastline behind me you could be forgiven for thinking you were perhaps in Cornwall or North Devon or even Pembrokeshire, but here's the rub. "Look over there, that is Port Erin, and if you know your geography of the British Isles, hopefully, that means you will appreciate we are on the Isle of Man. "I've never been here before, nor has Escape to the Country, but we are relishing the opportunity to explore somewhere which certainly, for me and for many of us, is new." You can watch Coastal Adventures on Channel 5 and Escape to the Country is also available to stream on BBC iPlayer
