
Calgary police investigate theft of utility vehicle from Sundance community centre
Calgary police are on the hunt for two suspects believed responsive for breaking into the Lake Sundance Community Centre.
Police say the suspects forced their way into the building's storage garage, located at 63 Suncrest Way S.E., at 4:20 a.m. on Friday, July 18.
It's alleged the men took a 2024 Gator utility vehicle and drove it into an alley roughly two blocks north, near Sunhurst Crescent S.E.
'They abandoned the Gator there for about 48 hours, before returning to load it onto a flatbed trailer hitched to a pickup truck,' police said in a Thursday news release. 'They then left the area heading north.'
Police say the pickup truck used was a dark-coloured Ford, and both suspects were wearing dark-coloured clothing.

Anyone with CCTV or dash-cam footage from the area, or who may have information about the identity of the suspects, is asked to call police at 403-266-1234.

Man, 29, wanted in connection with death, arson in Bracebridge, police say
Police are searching for a man in connection with a death and arson that happened Friday night at a residence in Bracebridge. The man, 29, who is from Bracebridge, is wanted for murder, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said in a post on X, formerly Twitter. He is described as approximately 5'8" tall, with light brown hair and facial hair, police said. "He is not believed to pose an immediate threat to others or to public safety," police wrote in the post. A shelter-in-place was in effect for Bracebridge until 1:45 a.m. on Saturday. Officers responded to a report of gunfire at approximately 8 p.m. on Beatrice Town Line Road on Friday. When they arrived, they found a dead man and the residence was engulfed in flames, OPP said. Bracebridge OPP's crime unit is currently investigating.

Senior struck and killed by vehicle while trying to cross Hwy. 404: police
A 77-year-old man is dead after being struck by an SUV while attempting to cross a highway in Richmond Hill Saturday morning. Ontario Provincial Police say it happened on the southbound lanes of Highway 404 near Highway 7 just before 9 a.m. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, while a driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police say. The circumstances surrounding the incident are not immediately known. Police closed the highway for several hours for the investigation.
