The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Grand Complication is the brand's first sporty minute repeater
Housed in a 44.5mm grade 5 titanium case, this is the first Overseas to feature a minute repeater. That alone is big news. But Vacheron didn't stop there – they also packed in a perpetual calendar, a tourbillon, and a power reserve indicator. All this mechanical magic runs on Calibre 2755 QP, a hand-wound movement just 7.9mm thick.
The design is just as clever. A transparent sapphire dial shows off the beautiful movement – bridges with NAC treatment in grey, rhodium-plated wheels in silver, and floating white gold hour markers suspended above blue metallised counters.
Pulling off a water-resistant minute repeater is no small feat. The sliding mechanism needed to chime the hours, quarters, and minutes usually leaves cases vulnerable. Vacheron solved it with a year and a half of R&D, reworking the caseback to keep the Overseas' sleek lines while protecting the mechanism inside. The result is a 13.1mm thick case that's water-resistant to 30 metres. Not best dive watch territory, but a notable achievement for such a delicate movement.
The minute repeater itself is governed by a proprietary centripetal regulator – silent, precise, and visually striking. Even the repeater hammers are mirror-polished. Peek through the caseback and you'll spot an engraved tribute to Jean-Marc Vacheron, who founded the brand in 1755.
Like all Overseas models, it's designed for versatility. The titanium bracelet has a comfort adjustment system and quick-release function. Two extra straps – blue alligator and blue rubber – come in the box.
The 'Openface' dial style taps into a long Vacheron tradition that dates back to the 1920s. But the execution here is ultra-modern, blending transparency, floating elements, and contrasting textures. The result is more than complex watchmaking – it's mechanical artwork.
The price of the Overseas Grand Complication Openface is available on application, and production is strictly limited. For more information, head to Vacheron Constantin's website.

Latest Trump tariffs unlikely to budge, top negotiator says
(Reuters) -The tariffs U.S. President Donald Trump imposed last week on scores of countries are likely to stay in place rather than be cut as part of continuing negotiations, Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said on Sunday. Ahead of a Friday deadline, Trump set rates including a 35% duty on many goods from Canada, 50% for Brazil, 25% for India, 20% for Taiwan and 39% for Switzerland, according to a presidential executive order. In trade talks since Trump returned to office, the White House has lowered some rates from levels initially announced, including halving import duties set last week as part of a deal with the European Union. Greer told CBS's Face the Nation on Sunday, however, that this would not be the case on the most recent round of tariffs. "A lot of these are set rates pursuant to deals. Some of these deals are announced, some are not, others depend on the level of the trade deficit or surplus we may have with the country," he said. "These tariff rates are pretty much set." Greer also said recent trade talks with Beijing had been "very positive" and were focused on the supply of rare earth magnets and minerals. "We're focused on making sure that the flow of magnets from China to the United States and the- and the adjacent supply chain can flow as freely as it did before ... and I'd say we're about halfway there."

‘No sign' Trump tariffs on Scotch whisky will increase, says Ian Murray
The Scottish Secretary of State has said 'there is no sign at the moment' tariffs imposed on Scotch whisky will increase to 25% as he expressed his 'disappointment' in the current US deal arrangement for the sector. Ian Murray also told BBC Radio Scotland's Sunday Show that Donald Trump's admiration of Scotland should be 'exploited' for the sake of the 'national interest'. The US President has so far agreed a 10% tariffs on UK exports and 15% on EU ones. Across the Scotch whisky sector, there are concerns that this deal - which is believed to be costing the industry £4m a week - will lead to significant harm for businesses. READ MORE: Scotch whisky hopes rise after Trump pledges to talk tariffs Trump talks of 'great love' for Scotland during visit 'Scotland must switch whisky exports from America to Canada' The Secretary of State is currently leading a UK Government delegation to Germany this week to 'increase economic ties' with the EU. Mr Murray said it was important to point out that trade deals with the likes of EU and India, the largest growing economy in the world, will provide a 'great opportunity' for Scotch whisky. Yet, earlier on the programme, Scotland's public finance minister Ivan McKee warned that 25% tariffs could be imposed next year as a deal previously reached with America on temporary duty reliefs could be lifted. Between October 2019 and March 2021, the tariff imposed as a result of the Boeing dispute resulted in £600 million in lost Scotch whisky exports. A deal was eventually reached in 2021 to take the 25% tariff off the industry. However, Mr McKee said: 'That was done on a temporary basis and that runs out next year so it's really important that it is taken out of the picture permanently because when that was in place, that was a significant hamper to Scotch whisky exports. 'As the UK Government concludes the deal with the US Government, we would expect it to be 10% tariffs on whisky which is clearly something we wish wasn't there.' Mr McKee said he would hope this was not re-imposed but added: 'There's nothing but unpredictability when it comes to Donald Trump and tariffs so who knows what's happening.' However, Mr Murray insisted it is unlikely this would happen. Asked how likely it would be for 25% tariffs to be re-imposed on Scotch whisky, Mr Murray said: 'There is no sign of that at the moment.' He added: 'It's 10% tariffs on Scottish whisky. Yes, we would rather that was as close to zero as possible but ten percent is as low as anybody else in the world right now." Mr Murray said the Prime Minister Keir Starmer has been able to 'reset international relationships' to do a deal with the US on tariffs. He said: 'Many, including the First Minister, wanted us to walk away from the US president but it was really important in the national interest and in the Scottish national interest for us to have that relationship to do that deal. '10% is the lowest tariff in the world. We did the first trade deal it saved the steel industry, the car industry. 'Yes, 10% tariffs on Scotch whisky is disappointing and we will continue to champion the cause for the really unique position of whisky. "We don't want it to be subject to historic trade wars as it has been in the past. It is a really thriving industry.' Speaking about the US president's visit to Scotland, Mr Murray said it was a 'great privilege' to when he landed in the country last week. He said he was in 'no doubt' of Mr Trump's 'great love of Scotland', adding: 'That is something we should exploit in the national interest.' During his visit to Scotland, President Trump promised to 'take a look' at tariffs on Scotch whisky during his meeting with Starmer as he said he wanted Scotland "to thrive". Since then, however, no changes have been made to the current arrangement. Speaking on the radio today, the Secretary of State also said Mr Trump suggested he should join him at the press conference beside Air Force One when he arrived in the country, however, the Secretary of State declined. Mr Murray said: 'He did tap me on the shoulder and said, 'let's go and do this press conference together' which I declined…because it's not for me to do so. 'I don't think it was for me to speak to the American press pack who is travelling on Air Force One with the President of the United States.'

People Who Went To Private School Are Sharing The Best "Rich Kid Meltdowns" They've Ever Witnessed, And I'm Cackling
Recently, a post from Reddit user Katybee18 on the popular Ask Reddit page caught my eye: In it, they asked, "People who went to private school, what was the best rich kid meltdown you've ever witnessed?" and the responses were pretty entertaining. Here are some of the best: 1."One kid had a meltdown because he was moving into a new house that didn't have a sauna." The Weinstein Company —u/zatchrey 2."When I was in high school, someone arranged for THOUSANDS of rose petals to be laid out on the school lawn spelling this girl's name to ask her to prom. This was while a plane flew overhead, towing one of those banners asking the question." Fhm / Getty Images, John Corry / Getty Images "He got rejected and freaked the fuck out. Parents were beefing with one another, and people were telling the girl to just go with him since his family spent so much money. He was clowned on relentlessly. It was pretty hilarious." —u/madhero3333 "Mad props to the girl in question for not bowing to the pressure." —u/DoglessDyslexic 3."One kid had a meltdown because his grandma was hospitalized and he couldn't spend his holidays in his other house on Reunion Island. He went there every holiday." —u/WiswisBrebis 4."I grew up in the late '90s, around the time the original Humvees became super popular. When I was 16, one of my classmates got a brand new one for his birthday. While showing off one Saturday afternoon, he drove it into a marsh. The marsh turned out to be deeper than he thought, and he had to bail out the driver's side window while it slowly sank into about seven feet of muck. I heard later that cleaning and restoring it would've cost more than the vehicle was worth, so it was written off." "Upon returning to school, he got some well-deserved ribbing from his friends, threw a tantrum, and stormed out of the lunchroom. There wasn't much schadenfreude to enjoy, though. A week later, the little shit rolls up in a brand new Viper." —u/veryloudnoises 5."This one girl would always show off the new things her parents got her, then pick and choose who to share it with, like it was a privilege. This one time, they got her these heart-shaped pastel-colored chocolates. She waited until someone noticed them so she could tell the table about it, and then she took a bite. She immediately went to the bathroom and came back crying. It was soap." —u/mvytsm 6."A senior once got wasted and somehow ended up driving his car through a wall into the dining hall." "Parents stormed into the school the next day with a lawyer and tried spinning the story that the 'school's parking lot had too many turns on the roads,' which is how his car ended up in the lunch line. Somehow, this worked, the entire parking lot was rebuilt, and the family 'donated' a new dining hall that now has their name on it." —u/peywrax 7."Had a golden child and a scapegoat in the same private school, two years apart. The parents gave the golden child everything and the scapegoat only got shabby hand-me-downs, including school supplies. Well, the golden child freaked the fuck out and BIT a teacher because he gave her an A minus instead of an A on an essay. This was eighth grade. Once she calmed down, she looked at her sister and said, 'You don't understand. If I'm not perfect for them, they're going to treat me like they already treat you.'" Pop TV / CBC Television —u/CandlestickMaker28 8."My daughter was in first grade, and this affluent child had a complete meltdown because they were going to take a motorcoach bus to a museum three hours away. She screamed over and over that 'only trashy poor people ride buses.' Her parents, of course, drove her." ABC —u/BobsleddingToMyGrave 9."She only got a Toyota and not a Tesla for her quinceañera." —u/Ctrl_Alt_Yolo 10."A rich kid I grew up with backed his Porsche onto a Honda Civic, and just walked away from it. He was just being a POS. Not even kidding, a week later he had a new Porsche. His dad has a garage full of them." —u/PegCity-Handshake 11."I got a scholarship to a private high school. A kid from a famous car racing family told me — voluntarily, suggesting she had no idea that she was being ridiculous — that she had screamed at her parents and told them they obviously didn't love her because they bought her a drum kit for her birthday that was 'only £4,999 — not even £5,000.' She was 13 or 14. I think I was supposed to sympathize with her." CBS / Via —u/boroxine 12."I went to a private boarding school in Massachusetts. There were lots of rich kids. I was there on financial aid. For some reason, the rich kids were really hung up on the idea that they were poor." Sony Pictures Releasing "A group of boys was discussing whose family was the least rich. The conversation went like this: 'Well, my family only really owns two houses, our ski lodge is technically a condo.' 'Well, we have the apartment in Manhattan, the loft in Brooklyn, and then a beach house in that's like only one house.'" —u/mister_immortal 13."My wife and kids witnessed this one. We were living in Switzerland on an expat assignment, and my kids got to attend a very exclusive boarding school as day students. There were some very wealthy families there, and the after-school pickup time was like a fancy car show." "One day my wife was waiting by our Opel Zafira van with two of our kids while waiting for the others. One of the extremely spoiled kids walked by and exclaimed, 'Not the Porsche again!' when he saw what the family driver had brought to pick him up in. It was a great example for my kids. They couldn't believe it." —u/Exidor 14."There was a little girl who could not let anyone have something more interesting than she did, and she would always borrow (without asking) any items that were pink. One time, we were on the bus, and she had taken a pink spray from a teacher out of her purse. She sprayed it on her neck, thinking it was perfume; it was, in fact, pepper spray. She screamed for the entire 20 minutes to her stop, her mom flipped out and screamed, 'Someone injured my princess.' They tried to get the amazing teacher fired, but it didn't work." —u/OilSafe6112 15."Kid got caught cheating and went to lawyer daddy to plead their case that they were just being efficient and 'using their resources.' It halfway worked: they weren't kicked out, but did have to take a zero. Incidentally, the school received a nice donation at auction from the family…" —u/Briaboo2008 16."I went to the international high school; it was weird. My family was broke, but my tuition was covered by my dad's work. It was the only US-accredited high school in the country, so we poor kids walked the halls with people who were driven to school in Bentleys. One rich douche got in a fight with another kid and got his ass beat in front of everyone. I'll never forget him on the ground screaming, 'Just wait! My bodyguard is gonna kick your ass!'" —u/Own_Candidate9553 17."Two of the kids at my school got into a fight over a parking spot, and one somehow drove his super-lifted truck OVER THE HOOD of the other kid's sports car. Fortunately, both of their parents bought them new vehicles, so nobody learned any lessons." —u/xiphias__gladius 18."I knew a girl who, by age 16, had totaled two brand-new cars." Adrianhancu / Getty Images, Trygve Finkelsen / Getty Images "When her parents refused to buy her a new one and told her to get a job if she wanted a car, she threw a massive fit and complained about how dare they make her walk to school. I remember just staring at her and laughing as she complained. It made her so mad, but I thought it was hilarious." —u/CaptainFartHole 19."One kid from Spain had a meltdown because there were shared showers in the dorms. His family paid to have a bathroom installed in his room." —u/Fine-Philosophy8939 20."This kid was told by his parents that if he hit an over-the-fence homerun, they would buy him a new Jeep. He hits what looks to be a homer, and the outfielder throws his glove up in the air in left field and actually hits the ball. It was hilarious, and the kid crashed out. They still bought him the Jeep, though." —u/regionaljames 21."A girl in my friend circle absolutely lost it when her parents wouldn't let her decorate her dorm room with a signed, original Warhol for senior year." —u/moose_nd_squirrel 22."One guy got expelled from boarding school for stealing money. He stole someone's card to spend like £400 on some new shoes and whatnot. So his dad came and picked him up, landing a helicopter in the sports field to take him away. That flight would've cost so much more than what the kid stole." —u/goldlord44 23."One girl used her Macbook as an umbrella when it rained." Comedy Central / Via —u/meh817 24."One kid nearly got expelled for dealing weed. Then the school got a new state-of-the-art recording studio, named after him." —u/listenspace Do you have any rich kid meltdown stories to share? Drop them in the comments, I'm so curious!
