Wimbledon celebrity sightings: David Beckham, Cate Blanchett and Dave Grohl were among stars packing the royal box on week 1
Wimbledon kicked off this week, and as usual plenty of stars gathered at London's All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club to take in the early round action while braving the record heat.
Among them was David Beckham, who sat in the royal box for Monday's five-set, first-round thriller between Carlos Alcaraz and Fabio Fognini. Beckham posed for a selfie with Maria Sharapova, the five-time Grand Slam winner and former Wimbledon champion who retired in 2020.
Beckham's right hand was in a cast from a recent wrist surgery.

Other celebrities spotted in the stands this week included rocker Dave Grohl, who sported a suit and wore his hair in a bun while attending with his wife, Jordyn Blum. According to People magazine, it was the couple's first public appearance together since Grohl revealed that he had welcomed a child outside of their marriage last year.

Also in attendance during the first half of the two-week tournament: Cate Blanchett, Rebel Wilson, Russell Crowe, Eddie Redmayne, Jason Isaacs, John Cena, Olivia Rodrigo, Jessica Alba, Nick Jonas, Leslie Mann and Judd Apatow, among others.

HKS star Mahoney wins title at G Camp
A young martial arts fighter from HKS Thaiboxing Club in Horwich has won a British title belt. Libby Mahoney, who hails from Adlington, also has the role of instructor at the club off Emmett Street. The 20-year-old made the short trip to G Camp, in Manchester, to compete alongside another HKS competitor, Bolton's Alexia Moores. Advertisement Young Alexia was unlucky to lose against a tough opponent, but Mahoney won her contest. It was a tough five rounds but she got the decision to make her parents and all her clubmates at the gym proud. Mahoney has been training at HKS Thaiboxing for 11 years and teaching for five. She did a few inter clubs when she started Thai boxing, then decided she did not want to fight but enjoyed the sport. However, in February this year she decided to get back into the ring and her British belt proves it was the right move.

Rodman was in attendance for Shelton's match with Hijikata, sitting in the box seats in the front row where she could see her man clearly. ESPN posted a clip of the adorable moment, garnering nearly two million views at the time of writing and generating plenty of comments. "Find yourself someone who looks at you like Trinity," a commenter wrote. Another one echoed a similar sentiment, noting, "Find a woman who looks at you this way." A fan added, "Wish someone could look at me the same way." "Love eyes," a supporter gushed. "I may have to start watching tennis again," a viewer remarked.
