KS Chithra recalls saving Ranjini Haridas from wardrobe mishap during ramp walk; anchor reveals, ‘She used to scold me for my short dresses'
Recently, Chithra sat down for a conversation with renowned television presenter and model Ranjini Haridas as the first guest on the latter's new YouTube talk show The Green Room. The episode witnessed the two — who have shared a close bond since their time together on the music reality competition Star Singer in 2009, where Chithra served as one of the judges and Ranjini the anchor — taking a long trip down memory lane, reminiscing about their longstanding bond, personal lives and more.
During the conversation, the 'Nightingale of Malayalam' also recalled an incident where she jumped in and protected Ranjini Haridas from a potential wardrobe mishap. Sharing that it happened while they were taking part in a doctors' conference in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, Chithra said, 'A big ramp was set up and Ranjini was walking on it in a short skirt. Below the ramp, there were people who were standing with cameras. I just couldn't sit there in tension.' The singer acted quickly and gave her a decorative cloth that had been handed to her while being welcomed to the event. 'I gave her that fabric and told her to use it as a drape. I just couldn't bear it,' she added.
Revealing that Chithra is very protective of her, Ranjini humorously shared that the singer would text her during their rehearsals, asking her not to sit cross-legged. She said, 'Chitra chechi used to scold me for my short dresses. Whenever I sat in rehearsals with my legs crossed, she'd text me 'Legs down!' She is the one who wants to see me get married the most, even more than my mother!'
The first episode of The Green Room was released on the occasion of Chithra's 62nd birthday on Sunday.

Oh My Girl Arin Hey, drama fans and transformation enthusiasts! Ever had that moment where your sunny friend turns into a total enigma overnight? That's Arin nailing it in her latest role. As someone who's all about those feel-good vibes in Oh My Girl , she just pulled off a complete 180 in 'S Line', and it's got us all hyped. We're sprinkling in some humor because, let's face it, who doesn't love a good character switch-up? Let's break down this buzzworthy shift that's lighting up screens everywhere. Sunshine to Shadows: A Total Role Reversal Imagine the queen of bright, bubbly energy diving headfirst into a world of mystery and gloom - that's Arin in the fantasy thriller 'S Line'. She plays Sin Hyun-hoob, a high schooler with the eerie ability to see red lines linking people who've shared intimate moments. It's a wild ride of uncovered secrets and hidden desires, like a mix of supernatural suspense and emotional depth. Arin admitted it was a huge leap from her usual self. "I was really worried if I could handle this genre and character," she shared, capturing that nerves-before-a-big-change feeling we all know too well, like trying a new hobby that scares you a bit. But she absolutely owned it! Her Oh My Girl bandmates were shocked, saying things like, "You had this side to you?" It's that hilarious surprise, like discovering a hidden talent at a party. Arin grinned, "The best part was when people didn't recognize me as Hyun-hoob - it made me so proud, knowing I fully embodied the role." On the stats side: Oh My Girl has been dominating since their 2015 debut. According to Sacnilk, their recent special single 'OO-My!' hit over 5 million YouTube views in its first week of 2025 release - that's massive engagement! Building the Broody Character: Cuts and Deep Dives To bring this isolated, power-cursed teen to life, Arin committed fully. She cut her hair into a messy short style without a second thought. "Hair grows back, so I jumped in with excitement," she laughed, echoing those bold moves we make when we're all-in on something new. She delved deep into Hyun-hoob's mindset, imagining his loneliness: "What if I was shut off from everything, carrying past pains?" It was like piecing together a puzzle with the director through constant chats. The outcome? Scenes so real that even Arin watched them back in awe, thinking, "Is that really me?" Sure, there were tough spots - she felt the character's isolation during filming - but it built her resilience, showing how pushing boundaries can unlock new strengths. Arin pulled from various inspirations, as industry experts often highlight how actors study psychological thrillers for depth. This role stands out in her five-year acting journey, kicking off with her 2020 web drama debut. Leading the Way: Cannes Wins and Balancing Acts This gig is extra special as Arin's first lead role, and it landed her at the 2025 Cannes International Series Festival! 'S Line' got invited to the long-form competition and snagged a music award. "Cannes seemed so far away, but this project made it happen," Arin recalled, cherishing the audience applause as a "dreamlike" highlight. Managing idol comebacks alongside filming? Challenging, but she handled it smoothly. Oh My Girl's release timed with shoots, yet her members supported her focus. "They're my solid support," she said, underscoring the value of a reliable crew. Right now, she's back to her charming self in KBS's 'My Girlfriend is a Tough Guy'. For the future, Arin's eyeing more: "I want to thrive as both singer and actor, tackling diverse genres." With Oh My Girl's fanbase expanding, she's on a stellar path. It's a reminder that versatility in entertainment can lead to exciting breakthroughs. Arin's tale highlights how stepping into new territories, backed by her Cannes success and group's hits, proves talent's endless potential in the K-ent world.
