Blue Jackets D Dante Fabbro inks 4-year extension
Fabbro, 27, was a pending unrestricted free agent.
He recorded 26 points (nine goals, 17 assists) and a plus-20 rating in 68 games last season split between the Nashville Predators and Blue Jackets.
Fabbro, who was playing on a one-year, $2.5 million contract, was claimed off waivers by Columbus on Nov. 10.
"Dante was a great addition to our team last season and keeping him in Columbus was a priority," Blue Jackets club president and general manager Don Waddell said. "He is a smart, versatile defenseman who moves the puck very well and can play in all situations. We are thrilled that he will continue to be an important part of our club moving forward."
Fabbro HAS totaled 98 points (25 goals, 73 assists) and a plus-29 rating in 377 career games split between Nashville and Columbus. He was selected by the Predators with the 17th overall pick of the 2016 NHL Draft.

Beloved Boston TV anchor Byron Barnett has died at the age of 69 after a brave battle with cancer. The veteran journalist, who reported for WHDH for nearly four decades, passed away peacefully on Sunday in his hometown of Minneapolis, surrounded by his family. His station confirmed the tragic news in a moving on-air tribute. Barnett, a beloved and respected reporter across New England, was known for his political coverage, as well as his ability to connect with viewers and ask tough questions. He reported on some of the biggest stories of his time, including an interview with Muhammad Ali early in his career that he described as one of his proudest moments. 'For almost 40 years, when big news happened, Byron Barnett was there,' WHDH said in a statement. 'From snowstorms, to shocking courtroom dramas, and moments that changed our world, including the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion in 1986, Byron was reporting live from Cape Canaveral when the disaster happened.' 'It was his questioning of another sports legend that Pats fans will always remember, Bill Belichick.' 'Through the thousands of stories he told, Byron crafted his legacy in Boston.' Report: Buccaneers signing QB Teddy Bridgewater
August 5 - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are expected to sign veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater after a visit and a physical, multiple outlets reported Tuesday. Bridgewater, 32, recently vacated his position as head football coach at Miami's Northwestern High School after being suspended for allegedly providing impermissible benefits to his players. Bridgewater was on the Detroit Lions' roster last December as a backup to Jared Goff but has not thrown a pass in the regular season since the 2022 season with the Miami Dolphins. The Bucs are looking for depth behind starter Baker Mayfield, who missed multiple days last week with a bruised right hand. Backup Michael Pratt has been out with a back injury. Kyle Trask and undrafted rookie Connor Bazelak also are on the training camp roster. Last season with Detroit, Bridgewater completed his only pass for 3 yards in the Lions' divisional round loss to the Washington Commanders. In 10 NFL seasons with the Minnesota Vikings (2014-15, 2017), New Orleans Saints (2018-19), Carolina Panthers (2020), Denver Broncos (2021), Miami Dolphins (2022) and Detroit (2023-24), Bridgewater completed 1,372 of 2,067 passes (66.4 percent) for 15,120 yards with 75 touchdowns and 47 interceptions. He added 844 rushing yards and 11 scores on the ground. Bridgewater was named to the Pro Bowl in his second season after starting all 16 games for the Vikings and leading them to an 11-5 record.
