Big Update Emerges on LeBron James to Knicks Rumor
The New York Knicks are hiring Mike Brown as their next head coach. The 55-year-old has been part of the NBA coaching scene since he started as an assistant with the Washington Wizards in 1997.

A significant portion of Brown's coaching career has been spent alongside LeBron James. He coached James from 2005-10 with the Cleveland Cavaliers, helping lead the team to deep playoff runs. So when news broke that the Knicks were bringing Brown aboard, it naturally sparked speculation about a possible LeBron-to-New York scenario, especially because James has said he's open to listening to trade offers.
There was a short-lived buzz: "Could LeBron James actually head to New York?" That question seems to have been answered, and not in the way Knicks fans might have hoped.
Stefan Bondy of the New York Post addressed the rumor on Thursday morning, tweeting:

James turns 41 in December, and many expect the 2025-26 season to be his last. He has mentioned in recent years that his wife, Savannah, has encouraged him to consider retirement.
Over his legendary career, James, the NBA's all-time leading scorer, has won four NBA championships and appeared in six other finals. He earned Finals MVP in each of the four title wins. He also collected four regular-season NBA MVP awards and made 21 All-Star appearances.

The 2024-25 season was filled with headlines despite a first-round playoff exit. The Lakers were eliminated by the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games, but the year was memorable as LeBron played alongside his son, Bronny. He also teamed up with Luka Doncic after a midseason trade.

As for the Knicks, they made it to the Eastern Conference finals but were bounced in six games by the Indiana Pacers. Shortly after the loss, the team dismissed head coach Tom Thibodeau, who had been with the franchise since 2020.
With Mike Brown set to take over and the LeBron rumors officially shut down, the Knicks will look to build on a strong season while setting realistic expectations for the future.

Bill Ackman Slammed Online For Tennis Loss After Accepting Wildcard
Billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman's wildcard entry into a professional tennis tournament ended in swift defeat Wednesday, drawing sharp criticism from tennis fans and officials who questioned whether the hedge fund manager had earned his spot on the court. Bill Ackman, chief executive officer of Pershing Square Capital Management LP, takes a break during ... More his match at the third annual Finance Cup tennis tournament in Miami, Florida, U.S., on Saturday, April 1, 2017. Just before matches began at the Finance Cup tennis tournament near Miami Beach, bankers and investors huddled around hedge-fund manager Ackman to hear him riff about the stakes for his portfolio. Photographer: Mark Elias/Bloomberg © 2017 Bloomberg Finance LP Ackman announced his wildcard selection on X last Wednesday, writing that former Grand Slam winner Jack Sock managed to list him as his doubles partner at the Hall of Fame Open in Newport, Rhode Island—he also said he was 'pretty sure' he would be 'the oldest person in tennis history,' at 59 years old, to win Association of Tennis Professionals points. The Hall of Fame Open is a competitive ATP tournament Challenger series event held on grass courts, with participants generally selected based on ATP rankings, wildcards entries and qualifiers. Sock, 32, retired from professional tennis in 2023 to pursue a career in pickleball and was suddenly given a wildcard for the Newport event, and listed Ackman, a longtime tennis lover, as his partner (players can select anyone as their partner, regardless of status). Social media users mocked Ackman after he and Sock lost 6-1, 7-5 to Australians Omar Jasika and Bernard Tomic, and an op-ed published in USA Today slammed Ackman's entry as a 'mockery of pro tennis,' blasting Sock for giving 'no indication that he's planning a comeback' and Ackman because 'you can't find results' on him 'in any of the public tennis databases kept by the USTA.' Randy Walker, the director for the Vero Beach Futures tennis tournament—an International Tennis Federation tournament—took to X after the match to post, 'I just watched the absolute worst professional tennis match I have ever seen,' noting Ackman and Sock's loss. A wildcard is a special entry granted by tournament organizers that allows a player to enter the main draw or qualifying rounds without meeting the usual ranking or qualification criteria. They are typically given to former top players, promising young players, local players or players with promotional value. Chief Critic Walker, who has served as the tournament director for Vero Beach Futures since 2017, said on X that he wanted to 'provide some commentary' and insights on the Newport match, but that he was 'too sick to my stomach over it to do so right now.' Earlier on Wednesday, Walker slammed Ackman for not 'earning' his wildcard, referencing 53-year-old James Bragg, who was given a wildcard into the USTA Pro Circuit tournament in Vero Beach after winning a doubles event in 2023. Walker has also criticized Ackman on X for saying he would be 'the oldest person in tennis history at 59 to win ATP points,' pointing to Gardnar Mulloy, who 'earned' his ATP ranking at 64 at a Grand Prix event played in North Miami, Florida, in 1978.

No. 45 pick Rocco Zikarsky signs two-way contract with Timberwolves
Australian center Rocco Zikarsky, No. 45 overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft, signed a two-way contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday, the team announced. Zikarsky averaged 4.7 points and 3.5 rebounds on 50% shooting from the field last season with the Brisbane Bullets in the NBL. He was limited to 20 games due to a knee injury after playing 29 games in the season prior with the Bullets because of an ankle injury. The 7-footer was part of the Next Stars program, a plan introduced by the NBL to give top prospects a path to play professionally. He was among several prospects in the program last season, joining the likes of Izan Almansa, Lachlan Olbrich and Alex Toohey. Travis Kelce's Wordless Reaction to Patrick Mahomes' Latest Instagram Post
Travis Kelce's Wordless Reaction to Patrick Mahomes' Latest Instagram Post originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce isn't on social media much these days, but when he does, he almost always gives fans something to talk about. Advertisement That was the case on Wednesday when Kelce popped onto Instagram to comment on one of his teammates' posts. Two-time MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes shared on his personal IG page a new commercial he starred in as part of a paid partnership with beer company Coors Light along with the caption: 'Chill out in the chillest place on Earth, the Patrick Plunge. Come on in, the water's freezing. #ad #21+.' The video starts talks about fans wanting to be 'as chill as Patrick Mahomes' needing to cold plunge before cutting to a video of a Mahomes hopping into a giant cold plunge in the shape of his head, called 'The Patrick Plunge,' which the video dubbed 'the chilliest place on earth.' Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (15) and tight end Travis Kelce (87).Jay Biggerstaff-Imagn Images The video ended by urging fans to 'take the plunge' on July 19 at Kansas City Live, with the proceeds benefitting the 15 and the Mahomies foundation. Advertisement Mahomes' post had nearly 17,000 views in just a few hours and nearly 200 comments, one of which came from Kelce. '😂😂😂😂,' the All-Pro tight end wrote. Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce reacts to Patrick Mahomes' Instagram Kelce and Mahomes are one of, if not the top quarterback/pass-catcher duos in the NFL. The tandem have combined for 686 receptions, 8,126 yards receiving and 56 touchdowns in the regular season, and 155 receptions, 1,745 yards, and 19 touchdowns in the postseason. After falling just short of becoming the first team in NFL history to three-peat as Super Bowl champions, Kelce, Mahomes, and the Chiefs have a solid shot of playing in their eighth straight AFC Championship Game and winning their fourth Super Bowl in seven years.
