Lady Gaga's Vintage-Sounding Duet Beats Her Oscar-Winning Smash

Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars's 'Die With a Smile' celebrates 46 weeks on the Hot 100, passing 'Shallow' ... More to become her second-longest-charting hit. LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - DECEMBER 12: Lady Gaga attends Netflix's "Maestro" Los Angeles Photo Call at Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on December 12, 2023 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic) With each passing week that 'Die With a Smile' finds space on the Hot 100, the song continues to climb higher on the list of Lady Gaga's longest-running successes on Billboard's most competitive songs tally. The track is nearing its first anniversary on the roster, and with one more frame on the ranking, it inches closer to a major milestone. 'Die With a Smile' Lives Inside the Top 10 'Die With a Smile' is present not just on the Hot 100 again, but inside the top 10. This time around, it dips one spot to No. 9 as it celebrates 46 weeks on the chart. As of this latest frame, the tune breaks out of a tie with 'Shallow,' Gaga's duet with Bradley Cooper, and becomes her second-longest-running win on the Hot 100. 'Shallow,' which disappeared after 45 weeks on the list, is pushed down to third place, as it was tied for second with 'Die with a Smile' only days ago. 'Just Dance' Continues to Lead the Charge Another collaboration, 'Just Dance,' which credits Colby O'Donis, still ranks as Gaga's longest-charting track on the Hot 100, but that might not be the case for much longer. 'Just Dance,' which helped introduce Gaga and electronic dance-pop to millions across the U.S. more than a decade ago, lived on the Hot 100 for 49 weeks. Since the beginning of her career, that tune has stood as Gaga's most enduring track, but 'Die With a Smile' doesn't appear to be going anywhere anytime soon. 'Die With a Smile' Remains a Huge Radio Smash The Hot 100 is compiled every week by Billboard using a methodology that blends sales, streams, and radio activity to show what songs America is listening to. At the moment, 'Die With a Smile' sits at No. 3 on the Radio Songs chart, No. 20 on the Digital Song Sales ranking, and No. 21 on the Streaming Songs list. The fact that it is still present on all three of those tallies well over 40 weeks into its lifetime show that there's a sustained interest in the throwback-sounding collaboration among a huge population in the country. The Gaga/Mars duet's continued success across all three of Billboard's pop radio charts — it sits inside the top 10 on the Pop Airplay, Adult Contemporary, and Adult Pop Airplay rankings — ensures that 'Die With a Smile' isn't about to vanish anytime soon.

Lena Dunham Is Happy for Netflix Rom-Com ‘Good Sex' to Skip Theatrical Release: ‘I Don't Think This Will Live or Die By That'

Lena Dunham isn't just making a comeback with her Megan Stalter-starring Netflix romantic comedy series 'Too Much' — she also has a movie she wrote and is directing set to premiere on the platform, and starring Oscar-winner Natalie Portman. In fact, it would appear that Netflix really wanted 'Good Sex,' also a rom-com which co-stars genre stalwart Meg Ryan, Mark Ruffalo, and Rashida Jones. After all, the streamer paid a reported $55 million for it. Dunham, though, isn't precious about the movie forgoing a theatrical release to go straight to the platform. To her, that's someone else's battle. More from IndieWire 'Practical Magic 2' - Everything We Know So Far James Gunn Cast Bradley Cooper for 'Superman' Cameo Because He 'Could Walk in the Footsteps' of Brando 'I really just want people to sit on a couch with their moms and their besties and lean in,' she said in an interview with Variety. 'I love watching other filmmakers fight for the theatrical-release element — but I don't think this will live or die by that.' 'Good Sex' went into production this month, so a release date is still very much pending. Tucker Pillsbury, known to the music scene as rapper Role Model, will make his film debut in the movie. 'He had this humor and essence that really felt like rom-com gold,' Dunham said, describing finding him on her shadow TikTok account. 'He's giving early Brad Pitt, like when you saw him in 'Thelma & Louise.'' In a nod to her late friend and romcom queen writer/director Nora Ephron, Dunham was excited to get Ryan on board. She pitched the movie to Ryan when they both attended Taylor Swift's London stop on the Eras tour. 'I decided, it's now or never, and I'm going to shoot my shot. She couldn't be a lovelier person,' Dunham related. 'Shout-out Taylor — thank you for that. She brings everyone together; she makes the world go round.' Ryan has been slowly raising her profile once again, after a fairly stagnant period without much mainstream action. In February, she appeared in a much-discussed Hellmann's Mayo Super Bowl commercial with Billy Crystal that lampooned undoubtedly her most famous movie moment from 'When Harry Met Sally.' Two years ago, Ryan made her own stab at writing/directing a romantic comedy with the small-scale theatrical release 'What Happens Later' alongside David Duchovny.
