Prep talk: Lineman Cooper Javorsky of San Juan Hills is soaring as a college prospect
It was two months ago when junior offensive lineman Cooper Javorsky of San Juan Hills picked up his first college scholarship offer. He's up to 15 offers and that might double by this fall as college recruiters recognize how impressive he is as a 17-year-old growing to 6 feet 4 1/2 and 295 pounds.
"He's had a tremendous offseason," coach Robert Frith said.

Getting stronger in the weight room, eating right and continuing to improve his athleticism have created plenty of opportunities for Javorsky, who also is a heavyweight wrestler and competes in the shotput and discus.
He's in no hurry to select a college. "I want to meet everyone," he said.
His older brother, Jake, was a standout linebacker for San Juan Hills before going to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He'll be advising his "little" brother, but all signs point to Javorsky being this season's lineman to watch. …

Women players hope Euros success will lift funding
Hull City Ladies football players have said they hope the success of the Lionesses during the Euro 2025 tournament will result in more funding for women's football. The England women's team are due to play Spain in the Euros final in Basel at 17:00 BST. Sophie Tinson, a forward for Hull City Ladies FC, said: "You haven't got many big clubs around here so hopefully it will bring more funding here." Hull City Ladies compete in the FA Women's National League North, the third tier of the women's English football league. Ms Tinson said her brother got her involved with football and she started off playing in a boys' team, before working her way up the system to Hull City Ladies. She hoped the successful Lionesses Euros campaign would lead to more funding for women's clubs in the lower leagues. "All the girls that are coming through in Hull and York… there's obviously got to be some talent out there somewhere, so hopefully it'll bring them through, and we can bring them through Hull City Ladies." One of the team's defenders, Darcie Sugden-Brook, said the women's game had already improved for her generation. "There's definitely going to be a lot more coverage of women's football, but I already think it's getting bigger in itself," she said. The club's physio, Jamie Lee Robinson, said the team had seen an increase in the number of spectators, especially young girls. "I think women's is just as important as men's", she said. "It would be nice to see that progression of spectators and more people playing as well," she added. Bobby Witt Jr. makes history with big game on Saturday
Bobby Witt Jr. made history on Saturday night. After winning the first game of the day on a walk-off home run by Jonathan India, Witt put the Kansas City Royals right back in the game in the nightcap. Witt smacked a two-run home run to left field, it was his 15th of the season, and the score went to 6-4 Cleveland Guardians. Following the home run, Sarah Langs posted the historical feat. The Royals shortstop became the first player EVER in Major League Baseball history to record 15 or more home runs and steal 25 or more bases in EACH of his first four seasons. Witt is hitting under .300 on the season, but the shortstop will still be fighting at or near the top of the American League batting leaders once the season comes to an end. He is currently at .288. How to watch Top Rank Boxing's TV finale: Xander Zayas, Jorge Garcia battle for world title
Rising Puerto Rican star Xander Zayas will take on Mexican veteran Jorge Garcia this Saturday at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Perhaps more significant after the final bell, which will crown a new WBO junior middleweight world champion, is that this main event will be the final Top Rank boxing show on ESPN. Top Rank and ESPN decided to have their final fight card together, showcasing perhaps their hottest prospect in the former's half-century of existence as a boxing promotion. In 2019, then 16-year-old Zayas became the youngest signee in Top Rank history, a company that has promoted greats like Muhammad Ali and Manny Pacquiao. Now 22, Zayas (21-0, 13 KOs) looks to win his first world title since turning pro six years ago. He faces upset-minded 28-year-old Garcia (33-4, 26 KOs). On the undercard is 2023 Ring Magazine Prospect of the Year Bruce 'Shu Shu' Carrington (15-0, 9 KOs). Carrington, 28, takes on Mateus Heita for the WBC interim featherweight world title.
