Second person dies after Wantirna crash
A second person has died following Thursday's horror crash in Wantirna South in Melbourne.
Victoria Police confirmed late on Saturday night that a 60-year-old man had succumbed to the injuries he suffered in the crash and passed away in hospital.
A 59-year-old woman also died in the crash.
A two-year-old boy was hit and received non life-threatening injuries.
The trio are believed to be from the same family and the two adults are reportedly the grandparents of the little boy.
The police have arrested a 91-year-old woman, who has yet to be interviewed.
She received minor injuries in the crash.
'The investigation into the exact circumstances surrounding the collision remains ongoing,' the police said.

The woman is believed to have lost control of her Toyota Yaris on Coleman Rd in Wantirna South, Melbourne at about 12.20pm on Thursday.
The vehicle struck a man, woman, and child before ploughing through a fence.
Witness Heather Webber told reporters she 'ran straight out' of the house after hearing a 'funny, weird sound'.
Outside, she discovered the 60-year-old man lying on the path.
'There he was, the poor chap, lying on his back,' she said, adding she was 'first one to see the … gentleman on the path'.
'He was nicely dressed … just a (cardigan), I think, and the bleeding was excessive,' she said.
Ms Webber's husband called the paramedics 'straight away'.
She told reporters she was 'very disturbed' by the crash, and was unable to sleep on Thursday night.
She recalled the young boy 'clinging to someone who helped him'.

'There was another lady who picked him up,' she said.
Locals could be seen paying respect to the victims at the scene of the crash, including the Wong family, who lay flowers on the path.
Police said they were still working to establish the speed of the car at the time of the incident.
'It is a downhill section of road, so if there has been a lack of control to some degree, there is a possibility that the car would have picked up speed as it streamed down,' Superintendent Justin Goldsmith said on Friday.
'We don't have enough information to say that it's a high-speed crash or that speed is a contributing factor at this stage.'
It is unclear if a medical episode contributed to the incident.

Police said the car mounted the footpath for about 40-50m before hitting the pedestrians who were on the path.
'Tragically that vehicle has collided with a couple and a child,' Mr Goldsmith said.
'That driver has then continued with some degree of lack of control down Coleman Rd and has collided with a street sign, and then has ended up in the reserve about 200m from the collision scene.'
The heavily damaged car remains in the park appearing to have crashed into a bench.
The crash is the latest in a string of road fatalities in Victoria.
'Unfortunately, we're facing a horrific month for road trauma,' Mr Goldsmith said.
'We've had 14 people lose their lives in seven days. Consider that for the month of July, compared to June, where we lost 12 people for the entire month … we've lost so many lives and had so many life-threatening injuries over the course of last week (and it) is completely horrific and unacceptable.'

A little girl is recovering in hospital following a vicious dog attack in Sydney on Sunday afternoon. Emergency services rushed to Mitchell Street in Chifley, near the city's southern beaches, on reports of a dog attack. The police officers found a five-year-old girl with a bite to her chest from the dog. 'The dog had been in the yard of a property the girl was attending,' the police said on Sunday afternoon. Paramedics treated the girl at the scene before taking her to Children's Hospital in Randwick for further treatment. She is in a stable condition, the police said. 'Rangers from Randwick City Council have seized the dog and will investigate the circumstances of the incident,' the police said.

Accused abuser worked after childcare misconduct claims
State officials have defended their handling of an accused pedophile childcare worker's case after it was revealed he was allowed to continue working with kids despite substantiated claims of misconduct. Joshua Dale Brown was charged with more than 70 sex offences against eight alleged victims aged under two at a centre at Point Cook, in Melbourne's southwest, between April 2022 and January 2023. The 26-year-old, who worked at 20 childcare centres across Melbourne from 2017 to 2025, has been accused of abusing eight children aged under two at the G8 Education-run facility. The ASX-listed childcare giant said it investigated Brown's conduct twice while he was employed at the company. Both incidents, which did not involve claims of sexual misconduct, occurred after the alleged abuse for which he has been charged. However, Brown's working-with-children approval wasn't revoked despite the two events being substantiated and reported to state authorities. The first G8 Education investigation in April 2023 found Brown aggressively picked up and put down, and did not emotionally support, an upset child in his care. Brown was given a formal written warning and placed on a performance improvement plan. He took three months' leave after the investigation. In January 2024, Brown was suspended and resigned after a second round of allegations. These included that he raised his voice during interactions with three children and forcibly grabbed the arm of one child, the leg of another child and forcibly pulled off that child's shoe. The allegations were considered proven, the company said. Emergency Services Minister Vicki Ward defended the government's response but deflected questions about why Brown was allowed to continue working with children in various centres until May. "The premier has responded to the information that has been available," she told reporters on Sunday. "She has acted very quickly, as has the government. Victoria Police are thoroughly investigating what are absolutely horrific allegations. "I'm not going to engage in any commentary that could, anyway at all, hamper the investigation by the Victoria Police." The state government has instigated a rapid review into safety provisions in the childcare sector, including changes to strengthen working with children checks. But Opposition Leader Brad Battin said the government needed to take action rather than launching another review. "We can't have a system where kids are left at risk and parents don't trust the system," he said. "We need to see action, and there are some things we can do now." Other measures being investigated include mandating CCTV cameras in childcare centres, which G8 Education has committed to doing in its facilities, and bringing forward a ban on personal mobile phones. G8 Education chief executive Pejman Okhovat said the company took immediate action after receiving reports about Brown's conduct and "followed robust processes for responding to serious incidents of this nature, including all required actions under regulation and law". New South Wales police has voiced staunch support for the officers involved in the shooting death of a man at a Western Sydney car park yesterday. Police say officers were called to a brawl that reportedly occurred between a group of women in Mount Druitt, before the partner of one of the women allegedly approached the group with a machete. Police say the man was shot by officers when he failed to put down his weapon. Assistant Commissioner Gavin Wood has surveyed footage from the incident and says he is confident in the actions of both detectives, who stood between the machete-wielding man and the women. "The investigation will be subject to scrutiny as it should be, but their actions were brave. I spoke to both police last night and the enormity of what had happened was starting to sink in. We will put our arms around those police, as we do and they deserve that. But they are good people, and good police officers. They did not come in to work yesterday knowing they would have to shoot somebody." Chinese actor Yu Shi will spearhead a new campaign, aimed at luring Chinese travellers to Australia.
