A POLICE officer who was getting ready to welcome his third child has been named as one of the four victims killed by the deranged New York City gunman.
Didarul Islam, 36, was working his second job as a security guard when Shane Tamura, 27, burst through the front door and opened fire.

Tamura drove from his home in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Midtown Manhattan before barging into the skyscraper where elite businesses like Blackstone and the NFL are located on Monday evening.
He entered the lobby at around 6:28 pm and first shot Islam before heading up to the 33rd floor, Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said.
The heartless shooter continually took aim at innocents in the office during his dark journey, before ultimately shooting himself in the chest and dying.
Few details have been confirmed about the crime, but New York City Mayor Eric Adams said that authorities are investigating whether he was targeting the NFL.
Adams said that Tamura, who was a former football player, had a note on his person that mentioned the league.
According to CNN, Tamura wrote in the apparent suicide note that he suffered from the neurodegenerative disease chronic traumatic encephalopathy, which can develop from head trauma.
Two of the four victims have been identified so far.
On Tuesday, investment management company Blackstone confirmed that executive Wesley LePatner was killed in the spray of gunfire.
LePatner was working as the global head of core+ real estate and the chief executive officer of Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust when she was killed.
She was remembered as a "beloved member of the Blackstone family and will be sorely missed,' a representative for the company said.
According to her bio on the company's website, she graduated from Yale University and serves on several charity boards in New York City.
COP KILLED
Islam, who lived in the Bronx with his growing family, had been with the New York City Police Department for three and a half years when he was murdered.
According to Tisch, he was working at the building on his off hours to make some extra cash.
'He was saving lives. He was protecting New Yorkers,' said Adams.
'He embodies what this city is all about. He's a true blue New Yorker, not only in a uniform he wore.'

Friends and leaders in the tight-knit Muslim community that Islam was a part of gathered at his two-story home that he had purchased for his family on Monday night.
A stream of people filed in throughout the night to drop off food and baked dishes for the mourning family, according to the New York Times.
The imam at the local mosque came to console Islam's pregnant wife and their two children.
One close family friend, Marjanul Karim, 31, said that Islam was a community leader who helped to mentor young Bangladeshi men.
He said Islam started work as a school security guard before moving up to the police force.
"He wanted to support his family and be in a better position, and he fell in love with law enforcement while working security," Karim said.
"At the time, my mother told him, 'You left a safe job working for a school in security, and being a cop is dangerous. Why did you do that?'
"He told her he wanted to leave behind a legacy for his family, something they could be proud of."

ESPN reportedly selling equity stake for RedZone and other NFL properties

ESPN has reached a deal with the NFL to purchase RedZone, NFL Network and other league holdings, the Athletic reported on Friday. The NFL will receive equity in ESPN that 'is potentially worth billions' in exchange, according to the report. An official announcement is expected next week, ending a four-year period of complicated, on-and-off negotiations. Both sides declined to provide comment to the Athletic. In addition to RedZone and NFL Network, ESPN will gain access to seven more regular-season games and the NFL's fantasy football operations, as well as the potential to integrate sports betting and other special features. The NFL's equity stake in ESPN could be as much as 10%, CNBC first reported and the Athletic confirmed. An ESPN-NFL deal would require regulatory approval, a process that could take up to a year to complete. The two sides already have a cozy relationship. ESPN pays the NFL about $2.7bn per year to air a total of 25 games, including Monday Night Football. The network also holds the rights to the Super Bowls in 2027 and 2031. Friday's reported agreement comes as ESPN is preparing to launch its direct-to-consumer service, with subscribers paying $29.99 per month to bypass cable and satellite providers to view all of the network's programming through the ESPN app.

Commanders cleared to build new stadium in D.C.

August 1 - After nearly three decades of playing in Maryland, the Washington Commanders have the green light to build a new $3.7 billion stadium in D.C. that should bring them back to the nation's capital by 2030. The D.C. Council voted 9-3 on Friday to ratify the deal between the city and the NFL team. The site of the new 174-acre complex will be the same as RFK Stadium, which remains in place even though the team moved out prior to the 1997 season. "This is a historic moment," Commanders managing partner Josh Harris said in a statement. "This project is about more than delivering a world-class stadium worthy of our players, fans and the region. It's about revitalizing a critical part of our city, creating thousands of jobs and unlocking long-term economic benefits for the District. We look forward to working with our fans, residents, community leaders and elected officials to deliver on this vision." The franchise enjoyed its finest years at the RFK site, which opened in 1961 as District of Columbia Stadium. During the team's 36 seasons at RFK, it won Super Bowls VII, XXII and XXVI while appearing in two more and earning eight other playoff appearances. Since former owner Dan Snyder moved the team to now-Northwest Stadium in Landover, Md., in 1997, Washington has amassed just seven playoff appearances in 28 years. Last season's run to the NFC title game was the Commanders' first push past the divisional round since 1991. Snyder's decision to sell his team in 2022 - a move encouraged by the NFL - helped pave the way for the franchise's return to D.C. In addition, Harris indicated his willingness to foot more of the bill than most owners. According to details of the deal, the Commanders are expected to handle $2.7 billion of the stadium's cost along with any overruns. The District of Columbia will pay $1 billion, but much of that is expected to be recouped over the long haul in taxes and other revenue streams. --Field Level Media
