Danny Silva vs. Kevin Vallejos prediction, pick, start time for UFC on ESPN 71
Last event: 2-3
UFC main cards, 2025: 72-56-1
Danny Silva vs. Kevin Vallejos UFC on ESPN 71 preview
Silva (10-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) will look to extend his four-fight winning streak while remaining undefeated in the UFC. The Dana White's Contender Series veteran has won both of his UFC fights, both by split decision over Josh Culibao and Lucas Almeida. ... Vallejos (15-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) shares some similarities to Silva. He is also a DWCS veteran riding a four-fight streak. Vallejos has one less fight under the UFC banner, though. His debut came in March, and didn't last long as he finished Seung Woo Choi in just over three minutes.
Danny Silva vs. Kevin Vallejos UFC on ESPN 71 expert pick, prediction
Kicking off the main card in appropriate fashion is a featherweight action fight between Danny Silva and Kevin Vallejos.
Silva trains under UFC veteran Cub Swanson and is a well-rounded fighter who primarily likes to figure things out on the feet. However, considering the boxing acumen of his current counterpart, I'll be curious to see if Silva looks to mix in more takedowns this Saturday.
Although there's not a huge sample size of Vallejos grappling against UFC-level fighters, the Argentinian has shown no shortage of ideas when it comes to counter wrestling or scrambling so far in his short career.
I don't know if I agree with the betting odds next to his name, but I can understand the hype on Vallejos when looking at how he transitions through offense on the feet.
It should be a competitive fight from the jump, but I'll take Vallejos to pull away down the stretch by successfully extending exchanges and working Silva's body en route to a clear win on the scorecards.
Danny Silva vs. Kevin Vallejos UFC on ESPN 71 odds
The oddsmakers and the public are heavily favoring the Argentinian fighter, listing Vallejos (-430) and Silva (+320) via FanDuel.

"It's not just about how you look but the effort that you put forth" - Stephen A. isn't convinced that fit Luka means trouble for the NBA
"It's not just about how you look but the effort that you put forth" - Stephen A. isn't convinced that fit Luka means trouble for the NBA originally appeared on Basketball Network. ESPN's Stephen A. Smith is back from his much-deserved vacation, and he wasted no time questioning the fuss over Luka Doncic's new physique. Doncic recently made headlines when he appeared on the cover of Men's Health magazine. Many talking heads agree that Luka taking his conditioning seriously is a warning to the rest of the league. If an out-of-shape version of him led the Dallas Mavericks to the 2024 NBA Finals, a well-conditioned version of the Slovenian could be scary to other teams. However, Smith put the brakes on that narrative by saying that looks are one thing. What you do with it is another. "There's a difference between getting in shape during the offseason and staying in shape during the regular season. And that's something that we have to monitor moving forward," the ESPN analyst explained. Getting into shape is just the start Luka's conditioning and fitness were the main reasons the Dallas Mavericks traded him to the Los Angeles Lakers in a shocking deal in February. This summer, Doncic has spent two months getting into shape, the details of which are outlined in the featured article in the said magazine. The finished product is certainly impressive, and SAS gave it a thumbs up too. However, Stephen A. isn't convinced that everyone should be more scared of Luka than they already are. According to Smith, the question is whether this slim Doncic will now be able to move without the ball instead of just standing in the corner and waiting for his teammates to pass him the ball. It also remains to be seen if this new physique will make The Don give more effort on defense, where opposing teams picked on him when the playoffs come. "So it's nice to see him prioritize his conditioning because we know that's been an Achilles heel of his. He's a terrific basketball player; he's a superstar in this league. But how it's going to translate to the basketball court, it's not just about how you look, but the effort that you put forth. And it doesn't end in the offseason. That's when it starts," he says Doncic has extended his career by getting in shape Smith does have a valid argument that he hasn't done anything yet with his new physique except grace the cover of the No.1 men's magazine in circulation. However, while we can agree with Stephen A. that the jury is still out on "Slim Luka", SAS's colleague Marc Spears made a good point when he said that getting in shape not only made the Slovenian a potential MVP candidate but also extended his playing career. "I think this trade ended up with the teasing, the hate, the social media stuff and inspired him. And it ended up pushing him to get in this amazing weight that I think isn't only going to make him an MVP candidate next season, but have the longevity in his career, keep him around longer," Spears said. The Mavs traded Doncic because they believed that with his lack of conditioning and social habits, his career would be a catastrophe in five years. However, after this stunning transformation, it looks like Luka will torment his former team on the court for at least another decade. Now that's something to be scared story was originally reported by Basketball Network on Jul 30, 2025, where it first appeared.

UFC on ESPN 71 bonuses: Two Fight of Night winners in Vegas
The UFC handed out four bonuses after Saturday's card in Las Vegas – with a rarity of two Fight of the Night winners. After UFC on ESPN 71, four fighters picked up an extra $50,000 for their performances at the UFC Apex. Check out the winners below. Fight of the Night: Chris Duncan def. Mateusz Rebecki Chris Duncan (14-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) and Mateusz Rebecki (20-3 MMA, 4-2 UFC) put on an absolute banger in the co-main event. The lightweights had a tough act to follow right after Esteban Ribovics vs. Elves Brener, and somehow did so with a Fight of the Year candidate. Rebecki was about a 2-1 favorite in the fight, but left disappointed. Both fighters left the cage a bloody mess and had to be transported to an area hospital following the bout. Fight of the Night: Esteban Ribovics def. Elves Brener In a strikers' delight lightweight slugfest, Esteban Ribovics (15-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) and Elves Brener (16-6 MMA, 3-3 UFC) somehow each landed 123 total strikes. But where Brener tried to make a difference was in takedowns – and Ribovics stuffed all nine of them in a highly entertaining scrap.

UFC Vegas 108: Tatsuro Taira gets back on track with second-round submission of Hyun-sung Park
Tatsuro Taira is back in the win column, and it could be a while before you see him leave it based on how he looked at UFC Vegas 108 on Saturday. The Japanese rising star defeated short-notice opponent Hyun-sung Park with a second-round submission via face crank, bouncing back in dominant fashion after a split-decision loss against Brandon Royval in December. The Royval loss was the first of Taira's career, and left him in need of a win entering Saturday lest the hype train come to a complete stop for the 25-year-old. He was supposed to fight Amir Albazi, who was facing similar circumstances via a loss to Brandon Moreno in November, but Albazi pulled out of the fight earlier this week, leaving Park to step in on short notice. Both fighters began the bout looking tentative, right up until Taira laid out Park with two hard rights. Taira spent the final four minutes of the first round harassing Park on the ground, but never found the right position to end things. Taira had Park back on the ground seconds into the second round, and Park didn't last long from there. In the night's lightweight co-main event, Scotland's Chris Duncan out-slugged Poland's Mateusz Rebecki to capture a grueling unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27) in a Fight of the Year out full UFC Vegas 108 results and highlights below.
