Ross has been appointed as the Magpies' head of football strategy two years after joining following Dundee Utd sacking Jack Ross has landed a new "important leadership role" at Newcastle after being promoted by the St James' Park club, The former St Mirren, Sunderland, Hibs and Dundee Utd boss is now the Magpies' head of football strategy, having initially joined the club as academy head of coach development in 2023 after being sacked from the top job at Tannadice. He was then appointed head of strategic technical football partnerships. ‌ Ross will continue to oversee Newcastle's player loan strategy, but will forge relationships with other clubs in the UK and overseas in what the club says will support the "development of Newcastle United's global brand and IP." ‌ With Eddie Howe 's men making their return to the Champions League this season and having ended a long trophy drought by winning the Carabao Cup back in March, ambition is high at the Saudi-owned outfit and Ross is keen to get started after landing a plum role. Scottish Premiership club's plans for new training ground hit by shock setback as they LOSE legal battle with protesters

DUNDEE'S plans to build a new training ground have been thrown into doubt after losing a legal battle with protesters. The Dark Blues want to build a new hub facility at the Riverside, transforming the current pitches and adding a new artificial surface with a small stadium. 3 Dundee's new training ground plans have been thrown into doubt Credit: Willie Vass 3 John Nelms was excited about the plans Credit: Willie Vass 3 The pitches at Riverside Park were due to be developed Credit: Andrew Barr Dundee council approved their proposal last year but pressure group Save Riverside Park challenged the decision in the courts claiming the development would affect flood defences, and breach environmental rights. The Court of Session has come down AGAINST Dundee, who will have to decide whether to put forward a new plan for the same site or look elsewhere. A Dundee City Council spokesperson said: 'The council is aware that the Judicial Review has concluded, and the planning committee's decision has been reduced by the court. 'As such, there is no longer an extant planning permission for the development.' The status of the application on the local authority's planning portal has also been updated to say 'planning permission reduced'. Dundee owner Tim Keyes also wants to build a new stadium at Camperdown and has been working on a proposal since 2017. But while an in-principle planning application was submitted 12 months ago, the council are yet to formally consider the plans. As late as November last year, Dundee managing director John Nelms had been stating his hope that the club would be able to use the new facilities by the start of THIS season. He'd described it as a "beacon for Dundee." The plans for the complex would've seen it house the first team during the week but also be a base for the women's team, for training and matches. Iconic Scottish boss Jim Duffy opens up on nearly signing Paul Gascoigne for DUNDEE, friendship with GIanluca Vialli and arriving at Hibs via helicopter Artist impressions included plans for a small stand for spectators away from the main building at the complex. As well as new pitches, existing pitches at the Tayside location were to be developed and incorporated into the complex. The complex would also be a community base with use by Dundee's own youth teams but also those from the wider community. Donald Trump told he ruined Chelsea's Club World Cup win as Cole Palmer stunned

Chelsea were crowned champions of the world after their superb 3-0 win over PSG in the Club World Cup final, but the moment was overshadowed by US President Donald Trump after he stood on stage during the celebrations Football fans have slammed US President Donald Trump for "ruining Chelsea's moment" by standing with the team as they lifted the Club World Cup on Sunday. The Blues became world champions after an incredible 3-0 win over reigning Champions League winners PSG thanks to a brace from Cole Palmer and another strike from new signing Joao Pedro. ‌ It was an impressive performance from Enzo Maresca's men as they overcame the standout team of the tournament and one that struck fear into their opponents after hammering Inter Milan 5-0 in the Champions League final - and also thrashing Real Madrid 4-0 in the semi-finals of this competition. ‌ And as Chelsea players made their way to the stage to lift their trophy and enjoy a moment for the history books, President Trump decided to join them for their celebrations. The 79-year-old was present to hand over the trophy to captain Reece James - as well as giving the Golden Glove award to Robert Sanchez - but was supposed to leave the stage after carrying out his duties, with even FIFA president Gianni Infantino persuading him to step away. But Trump simply stood there and smiled as baffled Chelsea players muttered some words to him - with man of the match Palmer appearing to say: "What's he doing?" ‌ Fans weren't impressed after the game as one wrote on Twitter: "Ruined the moment. Pictures of them lifting the CWC will always show Trump." Another called Trump "the least respectful president in modern history", adding: "Infantino was clearly trying to get him off the field, but he hijacked the moment and didn't let Chelsea's players enjoy their victory." ‌ A third fan added: "Trump ruining the moment for Chelsea by making it about him and standing in front of Cole Palmer… classic." Palmer was clearly irked by Trump's presence on stage and was asked about the outspoken politician after the game. He said: "I knew he was going to be here, but I didn't know he was going to be on the stand when we lifted the trophy, so I was a bit confused." Captain James added: 'I wasn't expecting him to lift the trophy with us, but I guess it shows just how big the tournament is. He just congratulated me and the team and told us to enjoy the moment."
