Jenin: Israeli military assault continues for the 22nd day with over 22,000 displaced people - Jordan News

Jordan News11-02-2025
The Israeli occupation continues the aggression on the city of Jenin and its camp for the twenty-second consecutive day, which has so far killed 25 Palestinians and left dozens of injuries, and massive destruction of infrastructure and property. اضافة اعلان At dawn today, the occupation forces stormed the eastern neighborhood of the city of Jenin, accompanied by military bulldozers that began destroying the infrastructure and streets, citizens' vehicles and property, and the occupation soldiers deployed their snipers in high buildings and on the roofs of houses. The assistant governor of Jenin, Mansour al-Saadi, said that the occupation forces caused massive destruction in the Jenin camp and forcibly displaced more than 20,000 people. The director of the Chamber of Commerce, Mohammad Kamil, told WAFA that the city's market is completely closed, noting that the city has seen closures that exceeded 25 days since the beginning of this year, and that the occupation forces deliberately destroyed the infrastructure and the city's economy. He added that the repeated raids by the occupation on the city of Jenin led to a decline in purchasing power, difficulty in transporting and distributing goods, with difficulty of shop owners arriving to their shops, which affected all economic sectors within the city and its countryside, which amounted to about 1,400 shops. According to the mayor of Jenin, Mohammad Jarar, the city has incurred economic losses exceeding $2 billion in infrastructure, buildings and shops, during the past three years, after being subjected to 104 continuous raids. He pointed out that this aggression and the forced displacement is "the worst ever", and coincides with difficult economic conditions, and that what is happening in Jenin is a disaster on all levels, especially with the displacement of 15,000 civilians in a small city like Jenin accompanied by very difficult economic conditions. For the 22nd consecutive day, the occupation continues to demolish and burn citizens' homes in the camp, amidst intensive flying of drones. The occupation forces also destroyed the street leading to the purification station in Jenin and parts of it, while it continues to send military reinforcements accompanied by bulldozers to the city of Jenin and the surroundings of the camp. Israeli mechanisms continue to besiege Jenin Governmental Hospital after bulldozing its entrance and the main street leading to it. For the twenty-first consecutive day, the hospital's departments suffer from a severe shortage of potable water, while the necessary hospital departments are operating at their minimum capacity due to the Israeli aggression.

Hamas accuses Trump of backing 'Israel's' starvation campaign in Gaza

Hamas official Izzat al-Rishq issued a scathing statement on Friday, condemning US President Donald Trump for echoing 'Israeli' accusations that the group is stealing and selling humanitarian aid intended for civilians in Gaza. 'Trump never tires of repeating Israeli accusations and lies — and we will never tire of rejecting and refuting them,' Rishq declared, denouncing the president's claims as baseless and misleading. Rishq insisted that allegations of aid theft by Hamas have been repeatedly disproven, citing findings from international bodies, including the United Nations. He also referenced a recent internal investigation by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), which found no evidence that Hamas was intercepting or diverting humanitarian supplies. 'These allegations absolve the criminal and place blame on the victim,' he said, accusing Trump of spreading misinformation to shield 'Israel' from responsibility for what he described as 'systematic starvation and genocide' in the Gaza Strip. According to Rishq, the crisis in Gaza is a result of 'Israeli' policies backed by Washington, including the use of food and medicine as tools of war against more than two million people under siege. He urged the US administration to 'stop viewing the situation through Israeli eyes' and to assume what he described as its moral and legal responsibilities. Rishq called on Washington to denounce the blockade, stop shielding 'Israel' diplomatically, and support the unconditional entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza. He also rejected the use of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) as a distribution channel, claiming it is being used as a trap for those in desperate need. 'Aid must be distributed through the United Nations,' he emphasized.

"They eat what we eat": Hamas shows 'Israeli' captive's health decline in new footage

Hamas released a new video on Friday featuring Evyatar David, an 'Israeli' captive who turned 24 while in captivity, appearing visibly frail inside a narrow concrete tunnel. The video, intended as a message to the Israeli Occupation government, draws a stark comparison between David's deteriorating condition and the suffering of children in Gaza, showing haunting images of bone-thin, malnourished Palestinian children. The footage portrays David sitting silently in what appears to be a dimly lit underground corridor, his face thin and body emaciated, signaling severe health decline. The video then cuts to scenes of Gaza's humanitarian crisis, severely undernourished children with sunken eyes and protruding ribs, a visual juxtaposition aimed at underscoring the shared cost of the ongoing war. Alongside the images, Hamas included statements holding the Israeli Occupation government directly responsible for the condition of its captives. One message in the video reads, 'He hoped to be released by a deal. The occupation government has decided to starve them. They eat what we eat, they drink what we drink.' The video also features clips of 'Israeli' officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, suggesting that the leadership's refusal to agree to a prisoner exchange deal is contributing to the worsening conditions of captives held in Gaza. Hamas claims that 'Israeli' captives, like the people of Gaza, are now suffering from hunger and medical neglect due to the collapse of supply lines and the 'Israeli' government's ongoing military policies. By stating, 'they eat what we eat,' Hamas is signaling that captives are surviving on the same minimal rations as Gaza residents amid the blockade and destruction.

TikTok appoints former 'Israeli' army instructor as "hate speech" manager

TikTok is facing backlash over the recent appointment of Erica Mindel, a former instructor in the 'Israeli' army's Spokesperson's Unit, as the platform's new Public Policy Manager for Hate Speech. Critics have raised serious concerns about the potential implications for Palestinian digital freedoms. According to Sada Social, a digital rights organization that monitors violations against Palestinian content, Mindel will be responsible for shaping TikTok's hate speech policies, drafting relevant legislation, and monitoring online trends, particularly antisemitic content. Mindel, who began her role in July 2025, previously served as a contractor for the US Department of State under Ambassador Deborah Lipstadt, the Biden administration's Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism. She also held a senior position at the American Jewish Committee (AJC), where she managed high-level advocacy delegations to 'Israel'. In a 2023 AJC video, Mindel described herself as a 'proud' Zionist and recounted her decision to make aliyah and enlist in the 'Israeli' military after graduating from the University of Michigan. She noted that her commitment to Zionism deepened during Operation Protective Edge in 2014, which left more than 2,000 Palestinians dead, including over 500 children, according to Amnesty International. Meet TikTok's New Zionist Censorship Tsar, Erica Mindel Mindel is a former IDF instructor & is now employed to run TikTok's 'hate speech' enforcement. The head of the ADL previously said Israel has a 'TikTok problem'. Now a devout Zionist can censor the platform. — MintPress News (@MintPressNews) July 29, 2025 Sada Social has expressed grave concern about Mindel's appointment, stating: 'Assigning someone affiliated with an army currently under international investigation for genocide in Gaza to lead hate speech policy only entrenches existing biases and undermines the principles of fairness and digital justice.' The organization warned that her military background could further compromise TikTok's handling of Palestinian content, citing its 2024 Digital Index, which revealed that 27% of all digital violations targeting Palestinian voices occurred on TikTok. Sada Social also highlighted TikTok's compliance with 94% of the 'Israeli' government's content removal requests in the second half of 2024, which included the deletion of videos with journalistic value and the removal of accounts belonging to activists and media professionals. Despite global concern, TikTok has reportedly failed to conduct an internal review of its policies, even after evidence submitted to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) by South Africa included footage from the platform showing 'Israeli' soldiers mocking victims and celebrating destruction in Gaza. In light of these developments, digital rights advocates fear that Mindel's appointment signals a narrowing space for Palestinian expression online and a further entrenchment of biased content moderation practices on one of the world's most influential social media platforms.
