Priyanka Chopra Thought Nick Jonas Wouldn't Marry Her After First Meeting With Her Mother

In a recent chat with Kylie Kelce, Priyanka recalled the awkward meeting between her mother and Nick when she brought him home for the first time.
Priyanka Chopra revealed she and Nick Jonas decided to go to her house to 'just hang out" ahead of the MET Gala. '[At] the end of the night, we went back to my place," Priyanka recalled their first meeting during the fittings for the Gala.
The actress had cautioned Nick Jonas, 'My mom's home. She might be awake." However, she forgot to tell her mother that she was bringing a boy back home at 1 am. When Nick and Priyanka entered her home, her mother, Madhu Chopra, was 'laid out on the couch watching [Law & Order] SVU."
Priyanka Chopra's mother was 'so mad" that the actress hadn't given her a warning. Priyanka said, 'She ran to her bedroom [and] was like, 'You should have told me.'" Even as Madhu Chopra was 'putting on her lipstick", she insisted that she was 'not coming back out".
However, Nick Jonas didn't seem to be bothered as he didn't consider the meeting to be a date. However, this was not entirely true for Priyanka. 'We met to kind of see what it was," Priyanka explained and added, 'Then he gave me a hug at the end of the night, and I thought I'd really royally screwed it up. … [He] patted me on the back twice."
Priyanka Chopra thought Nick Jonas had put her in the 'friend zone" after their meeting. However, they continued to text 'for about a year" before they 'went out for a proper date and then never stopped dating".
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas got married in December 2018 after a short engagement. They welcomed their daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, via surrogate, in January 2022. Priyanka Chopra is currently seen in Heads of State on Amazon Prime Video.
