Today's Quordle Hints (and Answer) for Sunday, August 3, 2025
If you're looking for the Quordle answer for Sunday, August 3, 2025, read on—I'll share some clues, tips, and strategies, and finally the solution. Beware, there are spoilers below for August 3, Quordle #1287! Keep scrolling if you want some hints (and then the answer) to today's Quordle game. (If you play Wordle, Connections, or Strands, check out our hints for those games, too.) How to play Quordle Quordle lives on the Merriam-Webster website. A new puzzle goes live every day. If you've never played, it's a twist on The New York Times' daily Wordle game, in which you have a limited number of attempts to guess a five-letter mystery word. In Quordle, though, you're simultaneously solving four Wordle-style puzzles, and each of your guesses gets applied to the four puzzles simultaneously. Due to the increased difficulty, Quordle grants you nine guesses (12 if you play on 'Chill' mode, or eight if you play on 'Extreme'), rather than Wordle's six. To start, guess a five-letter word. The letters of the word in each of the four quadrants will turn green if they're correct, yellow if you have the right letter in the wrong place, or gray if the letter isn't in that secret word at all. Ready for the hints? Let's go! Can you give me a hint for today's Quordle? Upper left: Recurring thing in a story Upper right: Cautious or on guard for Lower left: Grand, as in a goal Lower right: What a bubble does Does today's Quordle have any double or repeated letters? Upper left: No. Upper right: Yes, a double vowel. Lower left: No. Lower right: No. What letters do today's Quordle words start with? Upper left: M Upper right: L Lower left: L Lower right: B What letters do today's Quordle words end with? Upper left: F Upper right: Y Lower left: Y Lower right: T What is the solution to today's Quordle? Upper left: MOTIF Upper right: LEERY Lower left: LOFTY Lower right: BURST How I solved today's Quordle SLATE and MOUND are my go-to starter words, which get me some good info right away. Let's try MOTOR for the upper left. Nope, but closer. I'll come back to that. The bottom right might be RUSTY. Nope. Ah, the bottom right is probably LOFTY. Yes. The upper right might be LEERY. Yep. The upper left has to be MOTIF. Not sure about the bottom right. TURKS? No, I didn't think so. Oh, BURST? There it is. The best starter words for Quordle What should you play for that first guess? We can look to Wordle for some general guidelines. The best starters tend to contain common letters, to increase the chances of getting yellow and green squares to guide your guessing. (And if you get all grays when guessing common letters, that's still excellent information to help you rule out possibilities.) There isn't a single 'best' starting word, but The New York Times's Wordle analysis bot has suggested starting with one of these: CRANE TRACE SLANT CRATE CARTE Meanwhile, an MIT analysis found that you'll eliminate the most possibilities in the first round by starting with one of these: SALET REAST TRACE CRATE SLATE Other good picks might be ARISE or ROUND. Words like ADIEU and AUDIO get more vowels in play, but you could argue that it's better to start with an emphasis on consonants, using a starter like RENTS or CLAMP. Choose your strategy, and see how it plays out. Solve the daily Crossword

Today's Wordle #1506 Hints And Answer For Sunday, August 3rd
Looking for Saturday's Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here: How To Solve Today's Wordle Lazy Sunday is here and it's lovely outside. The birds are chirping. The sun is shining. Children play in the street. Up here in the high desert mountains, it's almost time for school to start back up. My tenth grader goes back to school Monday. He is not thrilled by this, and I can't say I am, either. We've been spoiled, sleeping in and staying up late enjoying the lovely summer evenings. Thankfully, school starts an hour later this year so it's a bit less of a shock to the system. But enough about school! Let's educate ourselves with today's Wordle. Wordle is a daily word puzzle game where your goal is to guess a hidden five-letter word in six tries or fewer. After each guess, the game gives feedback to help you get closer to the answer: Use these clues to narrow down your guesses. Every day brings a new word, and everyone around the world is trying to solve the same puzzle. Some Wordlers also play Competitive Wordle against friends, family, the Wordle Bot or even against me, your humble narrator. See rules for Competitive Wordle toward the end of this post. Today's Wordle Hints And Answer Wordle Bot's Starting Word: SLATE My Starting Word Today: CRATE (343 words remaining) The Hint: Not smooth The Clue: This Wordle ends in a 'Y' Okay, spoilers below! The answer is coming! . . . Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here. I was shocked every time I guessed today. CRATE is a great opening word most of the time. Today it turned up zero yellow or green boxes and, I later learned, left me with 343 possible solutions. I was surprised that BOINK turned up all grey boxes once again. I still had 45 words remaining (though I didn't know that at the time). I actually said 'Oh wow!' when my third guess, LUMPY, turned up all green boxes. What luck! I mean, it was a very reasonable guess given the circumstances, and I knew I'd turn up at least a 'U' guessing it, but to get the Wordle this way felt almost like a hole in one. Finally, on day three, I get a win, though the Bot remains pretty far in the lead. I get 1 point for guessing in three and 1 for beating the Bot. The Bot gets 0 for guessing in four and -1 for losing to me. Our August total become: Erik: -2 points Wordle Bot: 1 points The word "lumpy" comes from "lump" + the adjective-forming suffix "-y." Thus, "lumpy" has meant "full of lumps" or "having an uneven, bumpy texture" since the late 15th century.
