New Delhi [India], June 25 (ANI): Declining interest rates are not favourable for banks' net interest margins in the short term. According to a report by PhillipCapital, the net interest margins (NIM) of banks are going to moderate in FY25 and FY26, before rebounding in FY27.The report added that a 100 basis point cut in the repo rate and substantial liquidity in the system are conducive to deposit growth at cost-competitive rates. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has reduced the repo rate by 100 basis points since February 2025.The report highlights that Banks such as ICICI Bank, DCB Bank, AU SFB, and Axis Bank are expected to experience minimal impact on NIM compression, while others like HDFC Bank and SBI may see a moderate impact. Conversely, IIB and Bandhan Bank are projected to face the highest impact because of shifts in their loan mix. However, bank asset quality continues its upward trajectory, with stressed assets steadily declining across both private and public sector banks. As of FY25, credit costs are below the long-term average, reflecting improved underwriting standards and effective asset resolution.
While major stress events like the corporate NPA cycle and COVID-related surges in unsecured NPAs are largely in the past, some signs of stress persist in low-ticket unsecured loans. Early-stage microfinance stress has moderated, and credit card delinquencies appear to be peaking, suggesting a potential easing of credit costs ahead. Home loan asset quality remains stable, with Public Sector Banks (PSBs) increasing their market share in new originations.Similarly, vehicle loan stress remains contained, with stable metrics despite some early bucket increases in FY25.Furthermore, the PhillipCapital report also reveals that, credit demand is pegged at 1.1 times of the nominal GDP growth, with the sector's credit growth anticipated to be in the 11-12 per cent range for FY26. A notable pickup in unsecured retail loans is expected in the second half of FY26, driven by easing stress and improved borrower savings. Private banks, which previously lost market share in various retail segments, are likely to regain ground as credit risk subsides. (ANI)

HC orders 220 flats' registry after builder in Noida offers to pay Rs25cr more

Noida: The Allahabad high court has asked Noida Authority to execute flat registries at Grand Omaxe and Forest Spa projects in Sector 93B, paving the way for 220 families to finally get their property documents. The order came after the developer agreed to deposit an additional Rs 25 crore with the Authority in two weeks, making 50 more flats eligible for registry. The company had earlier deposited Rs 93 crore under the state govt's rehabilitation policy for stalled projects, which allowed 170 flats to be cleared for registration. The projects — comprising 1,692 sanctioned flats in total — had 678 pending registries among them. The issue first surfaced in 2018, when 30 Grand Omaxe allottees approached the high court, alleging they were denied tripartite sub-lease deeds despite paying the full amount because of the developer's unpaid lease premium. It clarified that if the developer deposited the full arrears with interest, the Authority could process applications for completion or occupation certificates of those additional projects. The case expanded when Forest Spa homebuyers — with their three towers and 176 flats — joined the litigation in 2021. Its AOA urged the court to hear their petition jointly with Grand Omaxe, saying both projects concerned the same developer and land parcel. A breakthrough came through UP govt's Dec 2023 order, which offered relief to stalled projects if developers paid 25% of recalculated dues. The developer's original dues of Rs 545 crore were revised to Rs 374 crore, considering a two-year 'zero period' during the Covid pandemic. After it paid the mandatory advance of 25% or Rs 93 crore, the developer unlocked permission to register 170 flats. During recent hearings, the developer insisted it was willing to pay the remaining dues so that flats in both Grand Omaxe and Forest Spa could be registered. On May 29, the court suggested an amicable settlement, following which the developer agreed to deposit another Rs 25 crore within a month. The Authority informed the court this additional amount would pave the way for 50 more registries. It told the court there would be "no impediment in granting occupancy certificates and other necessary permissions" for the two projects. The bench of Justices Manoj Kumar Gupta and Anish Kumar Gupta acknowledged the submission made by the Authority about the possibility of both projects being granted OCs within four weeks. The bench also ordered that any dispute regarding sub-lease entitlement must be resolved by the Authority CEO within a week. If homebuyers fail to complete formalities within two weeks of notification, the next person on the waiting list would get the opportunity, it clarified. "The list of homebuyers, along with the date of buyer-builder agreement or date of allotment provided by the developer, and the list submitted by the Forest Spa Association of Apartment Owners with names of transferees, successors, or joint owners, would be used for executing sub-leases," the court observed. The Authority must also file a status report by the next hearing, scheduled this month itself. This report will outline the progress of sub-leases and any remaining issues, ensuring that eligible homebuyers can secure legal ownership of their flats. Buffalo Bill's to close this week, South LA's third casino shutdown since 2020

Buffalo Bill's, one of the three properties owned and operated by Affinity Gaming in Primm, Nevada, is set to shut down on July 7. The company also owns the Primm Valley Resort and the now-closed Whiskey Pete's casino. This marks the third casino closure in the south of Los Angeles since 2020, including Terrible's in Jean, once known as Goldstrike. Buffalo Bill's casino to close next week(Representational Image) Las Vegas Locally broke the news on its social media page by writing, 'The legendary Buffalo Bill's Resort & Casino in Primm is closing next week, per @Vegas_Advantage. Everything is ruined.' Why is Buffalo Bill's closing? Raids by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) targeted towards Hispanic communities living in southern Los Angeles have been rocking the neighborhood in recent times. This has prompted members of the community to reduce leaving their homes for non-necessary activities, a change that has significantly impacted casinos such as Buffalo Bill's, which relied on these people as their major clientele. Although no official statement has been provided by the company for the closure, business being affected by immigration raids and the COVID-19 pandemic is largely suspected to be the reason. How will this closure affect Primm Valley Resort? July 6 will be the official last date for members to book rooms at Buffalo Bill's. Following that, all other dates have been blacked out on the calendar by the company and the system promptly displays a message for the customer to try booking a room at the Primm Valley Resort instead. The next available bookings at Buffalo Bill's are available for a four-day weekend in November. The hotel and casino may be reopened at that time to handle the overflow of guests coming into the city for a festival in nearby Goodsprings, Nevada. The casino floor may momentarily reopen on concert nights at Primm. Post closure, the nearest concert is scheduled for August 30. The Primm Valley Resort will continue to offer only slots and video poker, since all table games, electronic table games, restaurants, and the hotel shut down in December 2022. The Bonnie & Clyde cars currently on display in Buffalo Bill's food court will be moved to the Primm Valley Resort post closure. Recently, Affinity Gaming invested in a major remodeling of the Primm Valley Resort to boost business and made several game improvements as well. Following this closure, Primm Valley Resort will be the only operational casino near the California state line along Interstate 15. By Stuti Gupta
