Split doubleheader: Domínguez traded from Orioles to Blue Jays in between games against each other
Domínguez did not pitch in the the opener, which the Orioles won 16-4. Then the trade — Domínguez for minor league right-hander Juaron Watts-Brown — was announced about an hour before the scheduled first pitch of the nightcap.
Domínguez is 2-3 with a 3.24 ERA in 43 relief appearances this season. The last-place Orioles have also traded away relievers Bryan Baker and Gregory Soto as part of what has been a mild sell-off so far.
The AL East-leading Blue Jays had a bullpen ERA of 3.94, which ranked in the middle of the pack heading into Tuesday's second game. Domínguez, who was in his sixth season with the Philadelphia Phillies when the right-hander was traded to Baltimore around this time last year, can help.
The 23-year-old Watts-Brown was ranked as Toronto's No. 10 prospect by MLB Pipeline. He's 2-5 with a 3.54 ERA in 19 starts at Class A and Double-A this year.

The Blue Jays didn't have the busiest trade deadline, but they made some great moves nonetheless. Toronto traded for Seranthony Dominguez from the Baltimore Orioles and he has looked great in a Blue Jays uniform besides his most recent outing where he didn't record an out and allowed five runs (two unearned). They also acquired Louis Varland and Ty France from the Minnesota Twins. Varland has been outstanding this season and should play a pivotal role for Toronto moving forward. He has looked fantastic in his rehab starts and is progressing toward a return very soon. 'The 2020 American League Cy Young Award winner, who has a career record of 62-32 with a 3.22 ERA, could be a difference-maker this October — if all goes well,' wrote Bowden. 'In addition, Bieber gives the Jays another strong starter for 2026, though he could decline his player option. This was a steal.' Even if Bieber declines his player option and hits free agency, he makes Toronto's starting rotation look a lot scarier. Bieber has looked practically unhittable and has ramped up to five innings of work in his latest rehab start. 'I continue to progress, feel better throughout my outings, and in between innings,' said Bieber following his start on Sunday. 'I was happy with how today finished up. All in all, just kind of dissecting the outing. There's still some things to clean up.' Bieber allowed two earned runs on five hits and one walk, striking out six. Zverev to meet Khachanov in ATP Toronto semi-finals
Alexander Zverev reached his 21st Masters 1000 semi-final on Monday by ending the Canadian title defence of Alexei Popyrin 6-7 (8/10), 6-4, 6-3 at the ATP Toronto Masters. The final game, with Zverev serving at 5-3, was interrupted by shouts from an unruly fan who was tossed out by security. The distraction ended a run of 14 consecutive points on serve, with the seed double-faulting once he was able to continue serving. He finished off the evening with a sharp volley winner at the net on his first match point. Zverev completed his 40th win of the year in just over two and a half hours. The world number three won the tournament in 2017 but had not been past the quarter-finals in Canada since. "After losing the first set, I had to tell myself we were both playing well," the holder of seven Masters trophies said. "I had one or two mistakes at the end of the first, but it was a high-level match. "I felt that if I kept playing well, I would get my chances -- and I did. I can't complain about the second and third sets." The top seed began the final set with a 3-0 lead on his way into the tournament final four at the pre-US Open event.
