Cards complete 3-game sweep of Guardians with 7-0 victory
CLEVELAND (AP) — Nolan Gorman belted a three-run homer, Victor Scott II had a two-run shot and Matthew Liberatore won his career-high third straight start and the St. Louis Cardinals rolled to a 7-0 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday.
Gorman went deep in the first inning off Logan Allen (5-6), while Scott homered off Hunter Gaddis in the seventh to extend the Cardinals' lead to 5-0. Pedro Pagés and Garrett Hampson added RBIs in the eighth.

St. Louis has won six straight on the road, its longest run under fourth-year manager Oliver Marmol. The Cardinals completed their initial series sweep of Cleveland by a 21-6 margin in the three-game set.
Liberatore (6-6) tossed six innings, striking out five while allowing three hits and five walks. JoJo Romero, Riley O'Brien and John King wrapped up the combined three-hitter that included eight bases on balls.
Allen gave up three runs in six innings for Cleveland, which went 1-5 on its homestand and fell two games below .500 for the first time since April 8.
Guardians shortstop Gabriel Arias was taken off the field on a cart after sustaining a left ankle sprain in the third, but X-rays of his lower leg were negative. He caught his left spikes on the grass while going into the hole to field a grounder by Masyn Winn.

Pro Football picked a player as the best possibility to be Offensive Rookie of the Year. This player was the only option The Arizona Cardinals only selected one offensive player in the 2025 NFL draft. That was guard Hayden Conner in the sixth round. As such, the Cardinals have no shot at a rookie winning Offensive Rookie of the Year. But Pro Football Network, putting together a list of the best candidate from every NFL team to win Offensive Rookie of the Year, had to pick someone. As such, the player they named was the best option they could come up for Arizona. That player is undrafted rookie receiver Bryson Green. It's improbable to think that the Arizona Cardinals will produce the Offensive Rookie of the Year. Jonathan Gannon's side didn't draft a single skill-position player in the 2025 NFL Draft and only picked up one receiver and one tight end as undrafted free agents. Bryson Green was the lone wideout picked up and has the potential to be a big-bodied receiver who can add to the Cardinals' WR rotation. The 6'1', 207-pound pass catcher had 97 career receptions for 1,422 yards in his four years for the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Wisconsin Badgers, and fits the mold that Arizona has leaned towards in recent seasons. Putting together a list like this, PFN had to pick someone. Bryson is the best option, as the only other offensive skill player they signed as a rookie free agent was tight end Oscar Cardenas. Green has guaranteed salary to equal 18 weeks of the practice squad, so the Cardinals bank on him being with the team in 2025, but there is almost no shot he makes the active roster with Marvin Harrison Jr., Michael Wilson, Greg Dortch and Zay Jones filling four of the five or six receiver spots they will carry on the 53-man roster. On top of that, they have Xavier Weaver, who was on their active roster last year as a rookie free agent and 2024 sixth-round pick Tejhaun Palmer. They also signed Quez Watkins and Simi Fehoko this offseason, who have better chances to make the team than Green does. But is Green the best candidate for the Cardinals? Well, yes. That is the case. LAFC loses Olivier Giroud's farewell match, falling 1-0 to Vancouver Whitecaps
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Emmanuel Sabbi scored on Vancouver's only shot on goal, Yohei Takaoka made four saves and the Whitecaps spoiled Olivier Giroud's farewell match with a 1-0 victory over Los Angeles FC on Sunday night. Giroud started and played 60 minutes in his final appearance for LAFC. The famed French forward is expected to sign with Lille after one disappointing year in Los Angeles during which he was largely an unproductive substitute, scoring just five goals in 38 matches. Giroud had a chance to go out with a bang when Denis Bouanga fed him an exceptional cross while he was unmarked deep in Vancouver's penalty area in the 50th minute, but Giroud volleyed it over the bar. Giroud still left the field to a standing ovation 10 minutes later, but LAFC failed to equalize without him in its first match back from a winless three-game stint at the Club World Cup. LAFC scored one goal in the entire FIFA tournament, but still netted at least $9.5 million for earning the final spot in the field. Back in Los Angeles, its nine-match unbeaten run in league play ended with even more offensive frustration against Vancouver. Takaoka secured his 10th clean sheet for the depleted Whitecaps, who won for just the second time in six matches while falling out of first place in the Western Conference. Detroit Tigers right-hander Reese Olson completed the third start of his rehab assignment Wednesday, June 25, with Triple-A Toledo, throwing four innings on 74 pitches. The 25-year-old is recovering from a right ring finger injury. He seems ready for his MLB return. Advertisement The Tigers won't make a decision about Olson's next step until evaluating him in his upcoming bullpen session, but when asked directly, manager A.J. Hinch didn't say Olson needed another rehab start. "We won't make a decision until we absolutely have to at the very last second," Hinch said Wednesday afternoon. "He's in a good spot. There's no reason to talk about a week from now until a week from now." "Not quite to his innings count that we were hoping, but from what I was told — I haven't talked to Reese directly — things checked out really, really well. He was happy with all of his pitches, and the fact that he got through it unscathed, in terms of health-wise, is a great step forward."
