Bullis wins IAC wrestling title; Mount Vernon exchange student embraces gymnastics
The team had only six wrestlers at the end of his first season. Last year, that number grew to eight.
Last Saturday, the Bulldogs completed their turnaround. Bullis (203) claimed the Interstate Athletic Conference wrestling championship ahead of second-place Landon (188.5). It is the Bulldogs' first conference title since 2020 and the program's 19th.

Dogs urged to make brutal call on Galvin as fans all say same thing about replacement
Former Bulldogs player Michael Ennis has suggested the club might be better keeping Lachie Galvin in reserve grade until next season, while Cameron Smith and Andrew Johns have also weighed in on the situation. And Latu Fainu showed on Sunday the future is still bright for the Wests Tigers despite Galvin's departure. Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo made a curious decision to switch Matt Burton to the centres on Friday night against the Broncos so Galvin could start at five-eighth. But the move didn't exactly work, as the Dogs coughed up an 18-0 lead to lose 22-18. It came after Ciraldo's decision to insert Galvin into the halves off the bench against the Panthers also backfired, leading to an 8-6 loss. Questions are now being asked about the best way for the Bulldogs to utilise Galvin going forward. The 19-year-old will become the starting halfback in 2026 when Toby Sexton moves to the Catalans Dragons in France. But for the time being, the tactic of starting Galvin on the bench and then moving Sexton to hooker mid-game doesn't seem to be working. Speaking in commentary for Fox League, Ennis suggested Ciraldo might need to take his medicine and leave Galvin out of the first-grade team. 'What they do with Galvin, he's either on the bench or playing in reserve grade … that's the decision they have to make at the moment." Ennis said the ideal scenario would be for Galvin to come back into the first-grade set-up in the pre-season. "Ideally, Galvin comes in the pre-season and they get a full pre-season to develop him,' Ennis said. 'That's not the case, he's walked into a side that's leading the competition with Sexton and Burton in great form as the halves pairing. 'Reed Mahoney and Bailey Haywood compliment each other around the ruck. That spine is so stable, the game plan they look to execute, they execute it.' On the Sunday Footy Show, Smith said: "If they do that, and Galvin has a bench spot, I reckon they need to find or identify a particular spot he plays. I think the rotation where Mahoney comes off, Sexton goes to 9, I don't think that works." RELATED: Wife's revelation about Cameron Munster amid family tragedy Family first as Panthers star withdraws from representative games But Smith and Johns both predicted that Sexton might be axed this week and Galvin handed the No.7 role. "I think they'll go with Galvin, I think he'll play halfback," Johns said. "It's hard for them to judge, the first half they looked really good but second half they dropped that much ball but with him moving on I think they'll go Galvin and Burton." Smith added: "I think they will as well, but it's a really tough call on Toby Sexton. They're still sitting top two, he's been their No.7 for the first half of the season and he's got them into the position they're in right now. To gain a player halfway through the season like Lachie Galvin, as good as Lachie Galvin is, it's a tough call on Toby Sexton to say: 'Righto mate, thanks for that first half of the year, out you go'." Meanwhile, Tigers fans were frothing over the performance of Fainu on Sunday as the Tigers shocked the Roosters 30-28. Stepping up in the absence of Jarome Luai due to State of Origin duty, Fainu was brilliant as he scored a try and had a hand in multiple others. It led fans to suggest the Tigers made the right call in letting Galvin walk early if it means Fainu gets more regular playing time. "Regardless of the result, just the way the boys turned up today and actually fought, backs against the wall, given no chance, young side, new spine, players out of position," coach Benji Marshall said. "We showed for most of that game a lot of the things we've been good at for the last four or five weeks. I'm just proud of the boys' effort." NRL world erupts over 'terrible' incident as Ezra Mam boos backfire badly on Dogs
Broncos star Ezra Mam defied the boos to deliver a masterclass second half comeback against Canterbury on Friday night. But NRL fans were left seething over a controversial second half incident that went missed, and should have seen Canterbury fullback Connor Tracey sin-binned in the 22-18 loss at Accor Stadium. Brisbane were missing four of their best players on State of Origin duty and Selwyn Cobbo had a shocker at fullback in place of Maroons' 18th man Reece Walsh after gifting the Dogs two of their tries. But after looking dead and buried after trailing 18-0 at halftime - courtesy of tries to Bulldogs trio Marcelo Montoya, Matt Burton and Viliame Kikau - Mam engineered an epic turnaround that helped Brisbane seal their fourth-straight win. Mam was booed every time he touched the ball, as Bulldogs fans let the Brisbane No.6 know exactly what they thought about his drug-driving controversy from last year. But after a poor first half in which the Dogs ran rampant, the controversial Broncos playmaker stood up in the second 40, laying on three tries to help Brisbane snatch a miraculous four-point win. The result kept the Broncos within two wins of the top four and the injury-hit Warriors, and marked their second victory over Canterbury this year. Michael Maguire's men scored four tries in the final 20 minutes to complete the epic turnaround, and Mam was at the heart of just about everything as Brisbane kept the Dogs scoreless in the second half as Mam had the last laugh on his detractors. What an effort from him and the rest of the team #NRLBulldogsBroncos — BH (@BHolloway4) July 4, 2025 Hey Doggies fans. Some advice. Don't Boo Ezra Ma'am. He carved the dogs up. — MickintheGong🍞 (@MickinGong) July 4, 2025 The boos stopped once the Broncos hit the lead off the back of 3 Ezra try assists. Funny that🤣 — Michael McLucas (@Jebadude) July 4, 2025 Canterbury were also missing several players on Origin duty, with coach Cameron Ciraldo making a late call to shift Matt Burton to centre and start with Lachie Galvin at No.6. But the move raised more questions about how Canterbury's star recruit fits into the Bulldogs' halves combination, with Galvin and Dogs No.7 Toby Sexton both guilty of pushing too many passes and searching for points. RELATED: Cleary calls for NRL to make big change after issue that dudded Panthers Teammate follows Cobbo out of Broncos as Roosters lose star's brother Toby Sexton in $1 million club switch to replace premiership hero But for 60 minutes the Bulldogs looked in control, before Mam breathed life into the Broncos by finding space out wide and setting up their first try for Josiah Karapani - who has impressed after replacing Cobbo on the wing. Mam then lay on a beautiful cut-out ball to put centre Delouise Hoeter between two defenders to reduce the deficit to eight points, before interchange Billy Walters scurried over from dummy half to score in his 100th game for the club. With Brisbane two points down in the final 10 minutes and smelling blood in the water, controversy erupted when Kotoni Staggs was blatantly taken out by Tracey after kicking for himself down the right touchline. Referee Todd Smith, the linesman and the Bunker all failed to award the Broncos a penalty, leaving viewers furious on social media, but Brisbane got the ball back after Galvin batted the ball into touch. Fortunately, the officiating howler did not end up costing Brisbane victory as Mam produced another moment of magic off the ensuing set to wrap up an incredible win. The Broncos five-eighth juggled the ball before a sweetly timed sort ball for Brendan Piakura sent the Brisbane second-rower crashing over for the match-winner and silencing the home fans. "The way Reyno (Reynolds) and Ezra are coming together, they are starting to grow together a bit," Brisbane coach Maguire said after the game. "Ezra took the game on. I saw Reyno talk to him at halftime about what they needed to do, and he went out there and did it." Georgia football lands 4-star WR over 3 SEC rivals
The post Georgia football lands 4-star WR over 3 SEC rivals appeared first on ClutchPoints. Two months ahead of the 2025 college football season, Georgia landed its next major class of 2026 recruit. Kirby Smart continued the never-ending recruiting process by adding four-star receiver Craig Dandridge to the Bulldogs' evolving offense. Advertisement Dandridge committed to Georgia over offers from Tennessee, Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia Tech and Stanford, On3 Sports' Hayes Fawcett reported. The athletic wideout is rated as the 38th-best wide receiver prospect of the class by 247 Sports. Upon landing in Athens, Dandridge will be a part of Georgia's new offensive era. The Bulldogs' current top wideouts — Zachariah Branch, Dillon Bell, Noah Thomas and Colbie Thomas — are all expected to leave after the 2025 season. Georgia's current group of young receivers includes four-star freshmen CJ Wiley, Talyn Taylor and Landon Roldan. Three-star prospects Tyler Williams and Thomas Blackshear are also competing for snaps. Craig Dandridge joins Georgia football's class of 2026 Joshua L. Jones / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Dandridge is only the latest recruit to join Georgia's 2026 college football recruiting class. The Bulldogs' incoming class is currently a top-three group in the country, led by five-star quarterback Jared Curtis. Advertisement Coming off a disappointing 2024 season, Smart has been active in recruiting during the 2025 offseason. Georgia has not let off the gas, seemingly obtaining a new high-profile recruit every few days. While the hype for the 2026 season is already high, Georgia will have to get through a challenging 2025 season. After losing quarterback Carson Beck in the transfer portal, the Bulldogs have a massive question to answer under center. They are currently slated to have former backup Gunner Stockton take over, despite how poorly he played in Beck's stead in the 2024 postseason. In addition to Beck, Georgia also lost defensive stars Mykel Williams, Jalon Walker and Malaki Starks, who were all taken in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Offensive linemen Dylan Fairchild and Tate Ratledge also departed, along with running back Trevor Etienne. The draft departures added to the Bulldogs' transfer portal losses, setting up substantial changes on both sides of the ball.
