Felda to consult JPM on RM100k village allocation for land schemes
The announcement was made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday.
Felda chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek stated that the consultation aims to ensure the funds are used effectively to meet government objectives.
'We will refer to JPM to set the right criteria for recipients, ensuring the assistance is properly utilised,' he said.
The allocation will be customised based on village needs, with some having Land Scheme Working Committees (JKTR), cooperatives, or youth councils.
Ahmad Shabery shared this during the launch of the Felda Robo and Novate 2025 programme at the Mega 3D Carnival (MK3D) 2025 in MITEC.
Anwar's RM100,000-per-village initiative supports the MADANI government's focus on community-driven development.
On FGV Holdings Berhad's delisting, Ahmad Shabery clarified it is not negative but allows restructuring without public company constraints, enabling Felda to fully manage FGV for settlers' welfare. - Bernama

MyMall records RM24.3mil in sales, boosts SMEs growth
KUALA LUMPUR: MyMall, the e-commerce platform launched to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs), has recorded over RM24.3 million in sales as of July 31. Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said this marks a sharp increase of RM15 million in sales within the first seven months of the year, with 3,407 merchants currently registered on the platform. "The ministry has introduced the MyMall platform in 2022, and we encourage SMEs entrepreneurs to register on MyMall to utilise its free e-commerce marketing space. Ramanan was responding to a question from Ipoh Timur MP Lee Chuan How (PH) on measures taken by the ministry to safeguard entrepreneurs amid cost pressures, particularly in light of increased commission rates imposed by major platforms like Shopee, TikTok and Lazada. Apart from MyMall, Ramanan said the ministry is also running various capacity-building and digitalisation programmes through its agencies, including EmpowerPPK, TikTok Shop Live Hub and BizClinic. He said EmpowerPPK programme is a free programme to empower small hawkers and traders with the knowledge and skills needed for digital business transactions. "In 2024, the programme trained 618 traders, with an additional 210 trained by June 30. "However, the number of traders and the scope of the training are limited by an annual allocation of RM30,000. "The ministry will seek additional funding to include more informal and micro entrepreneurs in the programme," he said. As for the TikTok Shop Live Hub, Ramanan said it provides a studio equipped with advanced livestreaming technology, allowing entrepreneurs to produce high-quality content, boost their sales and expand market reach. BizClinic, meanwhile, offers advice on cost optimisation, financial planning and business resilience strategies to help entrepreneurs navigate rising operational costs and remain competitive.

PETALING JAYA: Former Klang MP Charles Santiago has proposed that the RM100 cash aid announced for all Malaysian adults last month be channelled instead to 6.3 million Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contributors who have less than RM10,000 in their accounts. Santiago, an economist by training, said low wages have forced many Malaysians to dip into their EPF savings before retirement. He said a targeted injection by Putrajaya would go a long way towards rebuilding Malaysians' retirement fund. He noted that Singapore's Central Provident Fund (CPF) system includes employer contributions and regular top-ups by the state, especially for low-income workers and seniors. 'It's a system designed to support people through retirement, not leave them scrambling to survive. That's the difference: long-term thinking versus short-term patchwork,' he said, praising the government support for CPF. 'Retirement shouldn't mean poverty. To make the (Malaysian) system stable, there must be regular top-ups from the government or employers, and through broader social protection schemes. In 2023, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said 6.3 million EPF members, or 48% of those under the age of 55, had less than RM10,000 in EPF savings.
