IRCTC offers 17-day train trip to over 30 places associated with Lord Rama starting at Rs 1.17 lakh

Capitalising on the popularity of Ayodhya 's Ram temple , the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation is conducting its 5th special Ramayana train tour since its inception on January 22 last year by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.This tour, " Shri Ramayana Yatra " will start from July 25, 2025 and will cover over 30 destinations associated with Lord Ram starting from Ayodhya and going to Nandigram, Sitamarhi, Janakpur, Buxar, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Nashik, Hampi and finally Rameshwaram island in South India before returning to Delhi. IRCTC officials said that since the inauguration of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya, the religious and cultural tourism has got a huge boost as devotees from different walks of life are visiting these places with a lot of interest."Since the inauguration, this is the 5th Ramayan tour which we are holding and all our previous tours received encouraging response from the travellers and pilgrims," an IRCTC official said.The tour will cost Rs 1,17,975 per person for 3 AC, Rs 1,40,120 per person for 2 AC and Rs 1,66,380 for 1 AC class cabin and Rs 1,79,515 for 1 AC coupe.According to IRCTC, package price is inclusive of train journey in respective classes, accommodation in 3 star category hotels for 1 AC, 2 AC and 3 AC, all meals (vegetarian only), all transfers and sight-seeing in AC Coaches, travel insurance and services of IRCTC Tour Managers etc.According to a press note recently issued by the IRCRC, the tour will start from Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station on July 25 and will be operated in Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC tourist train having modern amenities."The State of Art Deluxe AC Tourist Train has a host of amazing features including two restaurants, a modern kitchen, shower cubicles in coaches, sensor-based washroom functions, foot massager," the press note said.It added, "The fully air-conditioned train provides three types of accommodation viz. 1st AC, 2nd AC and 3rd AC. The train has enhanced security features of CCTV cameras and Security Guards for each coach."Detailing about the tour itinerary, he said that it completed in 17 days and the first destination is Ayodhya where tourists will visit Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple, Hanuman Garhi and Ram Ki Paidi (Saryu ghat)."Bharat Mandir at Nandigram follows next. The subsequent destination is Sitamarhi in Bihar where tourists shall be visiting Sita Ji's birth place and Ram Janki Temple in Janakpur (Nepal) which will be covered by road," the official said.He added, "Post Sitamarhi, the train proceeds for Buxar where the sightseeing would include Ramrekha ghat and Rameshwarnath temple. The next destination is Varanasi where the tourists will visit the Kashi Vishwanath temple and corridor, Tulsi Mandir, Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir temples and will also be witnessing the Ganga aarti."In the next couple of days, the passengers would be taken to Prayag, Shringverpur and Chitrakoot by road where night stay will also be provided, the IRCTC said.According to the tour organiser, from Chitrakoot, the train will head towards the Northern part of Maharashtra with next halt at Nasik wherein Trimbakeshwar temple and Panchvati area will be covered."Hampi, believed to be the ancient city of Krishkindha is the next destination. Here Anjaneya Hill, regarded as the birth place of Lord Hanuman, will be covered along with other heritage sites like Vitthala and Virupaksha temple," the official said."Rameshwaram will be the next city on this train tour. Ramanathaswamy temple and Dhanuskodi are a part of the visit. The train returns back to Delhi on the 17th day of its journey," he added.

Odisha Police using drones, AI cameras to control huge rush of devotees to witness Suna Besha
Puri, Jul 6 (PTI) With lakhs of devotees visiting Puri to witness the 'Suna Besha' (golden attire) of Lord Jagannath in chariot on Sunday, Odisha Police said it is using drones and AI cameras to control the crowd and cautioned people to make plans accordingly and abide by the traffic advisory issued. ADG (Traffic) Dayal Gangwar said that the vehicle inflow from Bhubaneswar towards Puri is constantly on the rise. Therefore, dynamic diversion is being done for vehicles to ensure minimum waiting time at Batgaon/Maltipatpur. "Present waiting time at Batgaon is around 20-30 minutes," he said while appealing to devotees to follow traffic advisories and cooperate with police personnel on duty. You may be interested in Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan said: "We are expecting a turnout of about 15 lakh people on the occasion of Suna Besha. Last night alone, about 2 lakh devotees had darshan of the deities on chariots. The administration is alert and aware of the situation and taking required measures to control the crowd," the minister said. According to the SJTA schedule, devotees can witness the Suna Besha rituals of the deities from 6.30 pm to 11 pm on Sunday. In a 'Suna Besha Yatra Alert' the police said all the parking space in the pilgrim town has been occupied due to a large number of devotees reaching Puri throughout Saturday night to have darshan of Lord Jagannath. "As parking spaces in the city are almost fully occupied, the vehicles are being directed towards Talabania and Sterling based on the availability of parking spaces. Waiting times at Batagaon/Malatipatpur may be longer," the police said. In view of the huge devotees inflow to Puri, Odisha DGP Y B Khurania himself is monitoring the crowd management from the Integrated Crowd Control Centre (ICCC) and urged people to follow the advisory. "Devotees are requested to follow advisories and maintain discipline and order during the darshan period. Like Rath Yatra and Bahuda, police are using drones and AI-powered cameras to control crowds and regulate traffic. Adequate parking lots have been created in and around Puri," Khurania said. The officials said that there was a "non-stop flow of devotees to Puri on Saturday night as the deities remained on chariots and were open for darshan. "There was no 'Pahuda' (resting time) for deities on Saturday night and devotees got the opportunity to see them on chariots. Therefore, there was a huge rush," an official of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) said. Servitors performed all the morning rituals on Sunday, while the sibling deities - Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath - were seated on their respective chariots. The three chariots - 'Taladwaj', 'Darpadalan' and 'Nandighosh' - are parked in front of the 'Singha Dwar' (Lion's Gate) of the 12th-century shrine after the completion of the deities' nine-day annual sojourn. The 'Bahuda' Yatra passed off smoothly on Saturday, amid unprecedented security and active cooperation of servitors, and the administration was on its toes to control the crowd for 'Suna Besha' rituals, the SJTA official said. The police have enhanced security, crowd management and traffic control measures for the 'Suna Besha' rituals, following the death of three devotees in a stampede near the Shree Gundicha Temple on June 29, a senior police officer said. SJTA chief administrator Arabinda Padhee has appealed to all stakeholders to actively cooperate for the smooth conduct of Lord Jagannath's 'Suna Besha' rituals.

Odisha: Puri witnesses huge influx of devotees on ‘Suna Besha'
Lakhs of devotees thronged the sacred coastal town of Puri on Sunday to witness the holy siblings - Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra - adorned with gold ornaments, weighing around 208 kilograms. The huge inflow of pilgrims got a glimpse of the holy triad dazzling with gold ornaments of hundreds of kilograms, which resulted in heavy traffic snarls in and around Puri. Earlier in the day, the Odisha Police had alerted devotees coming to Puri that the designated parking spots in the city had reached the maximum capacity. The vehicles carrying pilgrims to Puri are being advised to wait for some hours at Batgaon and Maltipatpur. 'Extremely heavy vehicle inflow from Bhubaneswar towards Puri at present. The present waiting time at Batgaon is around two hours. All devotees are requested to plan their visit accordingly,' informed the Odisha Police. The Police requested all to follow traffic advisories and cooperate with on-duty police personnel. The deities will be decorated with gold-made hands, feet, garlands with gold beads of different shapes and styles, golden crown, gold Chakra or discus, silver conch, gold ploughshare and pestle during the special ritual known as in the local Odia language as 'Suna Besha' or 'Rajarajeswar Besha', or 'Bada Tadhau Besha'. Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) had earlier announced that devotees can get the Darsan of the deities from 6.30 pm to 11 pm on Sunday. 'Suna Besha' ritual of the holy siblings seated on the chariots started during the reign of Gajapati King Kapilendra Deva, following the request of a prominent servitor of the shrine, 'Tadhau Karana' in 1460 CE. The king who had returned victorious from a war with some Southern Indian rulers donated cartloads of gold, diamonds and other precious ornaments brought with him to the temple.
