Pakistani who plotted US attack extradited from Canada
Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, 20, also known as Shahzeb Jadoon, was arrested in Canada in September.
According to a criminal complaint, Khan planned to travel to New York and carry out a mass shooting in support of the Islamic State (IS) at a Jewish center in Brooklyn on the October 7 anniversary of the deadly 2023 Hamas attack on Israel. "He planned to use automatic weapons to kill as many members of our Jewish community as possible, all in support of IS," US Attorney Jay Clayton said in a statement.
Khan allegedly revealed his plans in conversations with conspirators who were actually undercover law enforcement officers, the Justice Department said. He was taken into custody by Canadian authorities in the municipality of Ormstown some 12 miles (19 kilometers) from the US-Canada border.

He lauded the Pakistani nation for demonstrating exceptional unity and standing firmly with the armed forces to counter the adversary's hostile designs. The collective resolve of the nation reflects its preparedness to confront all challenges with unwavering courage and determination, he added. Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu also acknowledged Allah's benevolence in enabling the PAF to safeguard the aerial frontiers of the motherland in line with the nation's expectations. He reaffirmed the PAF's unwavering commitment to extending full support towards fulfilling any national imperative in defence of the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also expressed resolve that PAF remained ever-vigilant and fully prepared to respond to any threat, upholding its sacred duty to protect the skies of Pakistan. It is worth noting that this letter was written in response to a message previously sent by Speaker Sadiq. In his letter, the Speaker paid rich tribute to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu for delivering a decisive and bold response to Indian hostility. Governor for forging unity of Ummah
LAHORE: Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan stated that the unity and solidarity of the Muslim Ummah is crucial in countering efforts to destabilize Islamic countries. He made these remarks during a meeting with Consul General of Islamic Republic of Iran, Mehran Mowahid Far, at the Iranian Consulate in Lahore. PTI decides to file references against four ‘defectors'
ISLAMABAD: The embattled Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday decided to file references with the National Assembly Speaker, seeking the disqualification of four of its MNAs who have now joined the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Talking to reporters, senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser blasted the defectors, Chaudhry Usman Ali, Mubarak Zeb, Aurangzeb Khichi, and Zahoor Qureshi and branded them backstabbers who ditched party loyalty to join what he called the 'mandate theft regime.' 'These members secured their seats on PTI's platform, swore loyalty on the holy Quran, and now have shamelessly turned their backs,' Qaiser said, vowing that the party would file formal references for their disqualification with NA Speaker. He said the party had finalised action against the MNAs for breaking party discipline during the vote on the 26th Constitutional Amendment, adding the reference will be submitted to NA Speaker in the next few days. But insiders close to PTI admit there is little chance these actions will lead to any real consequences, given the prevailing political climate. Meanwhile, Asad Qaiser met with Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki in a diplomatic display underscoring Pakistan's continued reliance on its brotherly ally. He praised Saudi Arabia's rapid development under Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and thanked the kingdom for its unwavering support during Pakistan's toughest moments. The ambassador, in turn, reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's commitment to boosting economic ties and lauded the Pakistani diaspora – especially from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and tribal regions – for their vital role in Saudi Arabia's growth. 'We consider Pakistan our second home,' Al-Malki said, stressing that stability and prosperity in Pakistan remain a key Saudi interest.
