All about China's new missile that can be launched from space, technology is based on....
China new missile: In what could be a major concern for India and US, China has achieved a technological breakthrough pertaining to capability to launch missiles directly from space. The report in the South China Morning Post claims that China has developed hypersonic missiles capable of reaching speeds up to Mach 20, 20 times the speed of sound. With this technology, China can now launch missiles from space, including from existing or small space stations. China's might has been so upgraded that The design of these space-launched missiles is so advanced that conventional air defence systems may not be able to detect or intercept them in time. By the time conventional systems identify the trajectory of the missile, it is already very close to its target. It wont be wrong to say that China has got its Brahmastra.
How does this technology work?
The technology behind these missiles is based on hypersonic glide vehicles (HGVs), which operate in two stages. If China installs such missiles in any of its space stations, they can be controlled by command centres on Earth. These command centres can remotely launch hypersonic glide vehicles from space stations. The glide vehicles, traveling at extremely high speeds, will first re-enter Earth's atmosphere and then head toward their targets, making their trajectory unpredictable and difficult to intercept.
China launched its hypersonic missile program in 2010. By 2017, it had conducted the first successful test and soon after began working on technology to launch missiles and rockets from space. According to an American scientific report, China tested its hypersonic missile program again in 2021, and now, in just 15 years, China's hypersonic missile capability has moved from theoretical calculations to operational reality in space.
Can this threat be countered?
There are some ways to counter such threats from Chinese space-launched missiles. For example, it is possible to destroy the satellite or orbital platform from which the missile was launched. Along with the United States, China, and Russia, India has also acquired technology known as anti-satellite weapons to destroy satellites in space.

The Xiaomi incident has triggered increased scrutiny, with Beijing determined to prevent the overpromotion of these systems' capabilities. Officials are walking a fine line, encouraging rapid technological advancement without compromising road safety. Analysts suggest this balanced approach, if executed well, could offer China a competitive edge over markets like the United States, where regulatory frameworks for autonomous vehicles remain fragmented. Under current Chinese regulations, systems that control steering, acceleration, and braking under limited conditions are permitted, but drivers must remain alert. The use of terms such as 'autonomous' or 'smart' in marketing is prohibited to avoid misleading consumers. The revised regulations are expected to include stricter standards for hardware and software that monitor driver attentiveness and response times. State-backed firms such as Dongfeng and Huawei have been enlisted to assist in drafting the rules, with the government seeking public feedback over a month-long consultation period ending Friday. Despite the push for caution, Chinese authorities are continuing efforts to roll out more advanced Level 3 systems. According to Canalys, over 60 per cent of new vehicles sold in China this year are expected to offer Level 2 capabilities. Companies have also been able to lower costs enough to offer such features at little or no additional expense. BYD, for instance, now includes its 'God's Eye' driving software across all models without a surcharge. Globally, China is positioning itself to lead in assisted-driving technology much as it did with electric vehicles. Last year, the government selected nine automakers for public road testing aimed at advancing self-driving technologies. As part of its regulatory shift, China will also hold carmakers and component suppliers legally accountable for system failures, a move that mirrors similar legislation passed in the UK last year. At the Shanghai Auto Show in April, firms including Huawei and Geely's Zeekr showcased Level 3-ready technologies. Huawei claimed its system, designed for highways, had undergone over 600 million kilometres of simulated testing. Zeekr unveiled the 9X luxury SUV, stating it was ready for mass production in the third quarter, pending regulatory approval. In contrast, global brands like Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen have been more conservative. While highlighting progress in assisted-driving features, they have refrained from introducing Level 3 systems, citing liability concerns and cost barriers. Calling it an India-Pakistan thing, he also shared a screenshot of a conversation with an individual appearing to be Soham Parekh. 'Soham also used to guilt-trip me for his being slow on PRs when the India-Pakistan thing was going on, all while he was in Mumbai. Next person should hire him for the Chief Intelligence Officer role," the CTO wrote in the post. The conversation shows Soham speaking about a drone attack near his house, further adding that he has been told to stay at home. Telegin explained, 'Context here is that Mumbai was nowhere near the conflict, being 1000km+ away from Jammu & Kashmir." Carried out by the Indian Armed Forces, Operation Sindoor was a calibrated military operation in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. The forces targeted terrorist sites and camps through airstrikes and missiles. At the time of the operation, while states bordering Pakistan like Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh were on high alert, Maharashtra had no major reports of airstrikes or attacks as claimed in the text messages.
