Maneka Gandhi meets Uttarakhand CM Dhami at his official residence
On this occasion, the Chief Minister presented her with the holy prasad of the four Dhams of the state.
Earlier, the Chief Minister gave strict instructions to the officials to start Operation Kalanemi against the impersonators who cheat people and play with their sentiments in the name of Sanatan Dharma in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand.
The Chief Minister said that many such cases have come to light in the state where anti-social elements are cheating people, especially women, by disguising themselves as saints. This is not only hurting the religious sentiments of the people, but also harming the image of social harmony and Sanatan tradition. In such a situation, if a person of any religion is found doing such acts, then strict action will be taken against him.
He also said that just as the demon Kalanemi had tried to mislead by disguising himself as a saint, similarly, many 'Kalanemi' are active in society today who are committing crimes in religious guise. Our government is fully committed to protecting public sentiments, the dignity of Sanatan culture and maintaining social harmony. Those who spread hypocrisy in the name of faith will not be spared under any circumstances.
He also conducted a field inspection of the areas affected by heavy rains in the Raipur area in Dehradun.
He met the local people at Kirsali Chowk, IT Park, Nanurkheda, Amwala, Tapovan, and Shanti Vihar, and listened to their problems. He stated that the safety of the public is the top priority of the state government. (ANI)

Saha lays emphasis on coordination among stakeholders to ensure justice under criminal laws
'Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the three criminal laws were enacted in the country. The people will benefit from these laws as it mandates a timeline for disposal of cases,' the chief minister told reporters. The three new criminal laws – Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) – were enacted, replacing the colonial era legislations. Agartala, Jul 20 (PTI) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday laid emphasis on better coordination among stakeholders to ensure justice under three criminal laws. Saha was talking after inaugurating a workshop on 'investigation and prosecution under three criminal laws and NDPS Act' at Pragya Bhavan. He said the three laws have many benefits, such as the forensic team will rush to the crime scene if it (the crime) invites more than seven years of imprisonment, the statement of rape victim may be recoded through electronic communication in the presence of female magistrate. 'In case of rape, the health officials are asked to submit a report within seven days to expedite investigation. Besides, the laws fixed the timeline for disposing of cases,' he said. Asserting that arrest doesn't ensure punishment to any accused, the chief minister said police and public prosecutors and other stakeholders must work hand in hand to ensure justice for the victims. 'If there is any lapse in investigation, the agencies sort out the problem and ensure justice under the three new criminal laws. There must be intensive awareness programmes on the new laws to sensitise the people about the advantages given in the new laws,' he said. On the NDPS Act, the chief minister said the conviction rate in such cases has increased in the northeastern state. PTI PS RG This report is auto-generated from PTI news service. All-party meet: Opposition seeks debate on Bihar SIR, Pahalgam, Trump's claims; 'open to discussion,' says Rijiju
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Sunday said that the BJP-led central government is "very much open to discussing important issues like Operation Sindoor in Parliament" amid pressing demand from the Opposition parties for a debate on US President Donald Trump's controversial claims of brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. "The government will respond appropriately in Parliament," the minister told media after the meeting. Stressing there should be "government-opposition coordination" for the smooth running of the Parliament, Rijiju said that the government is "open to discussing all issues in line with rules and traditions." The all-party meeting convened by the Union government ahead of the Monsoon session of Parliament saw the Opposition raise a host of contentious issues — including voter roll revisions in Bihar, the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, and Trump's claims. While the government sought the cooperation of opposition parties for the smooth conduct of the House, the meeting quickly pivoted to pointed demands for accountability. Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi, told reporters that his party had asked for a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Trump's remarks, what he described as 'lapses' that led to the Pahalgam attack, and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. 'It is incumbent on PM Modi to give a statement in Parliament on key issues raised by the Congress,' Gogoi said. The concerns were echoed by CPI(M) MP John Brittas, who also urged the PM Modi to address the Parliament on both the Pahalgam attack and Trump's ceasefire claims, which he says merit urgent clarification.
