Kali the cat was found in a locked freezer at a Youngstown gas station. It is now in safe hands at Animal Charity.
Animal Charity believes the cat's owner is the same as the owner of a dog named Koda, which was shot in the neck and paralyzed. The dog was in the hospital for several days, and Animal Charity spent $15,000 saving her life.
'The investigation is looking into the fact that the animal was put into the freezer and abandoned there and also the safety aspect of an animal being shot and then not subsequently receiving veterinary care,' said Jane MacMurchy with Animal Charity.
Animal Charity is taking donations to help meet those expenses. It's also hoping the owner of both animals will face criminal charges.

Watchdog appoints interim managers for troubled charity linked to Carrie Johnson
A watchdog has appointed interim managers to take over the running of an animal charity linked to Boris Johnson's wife. The Aspinall Foundation is facing an investigation by the Charity Commission after it raised 'serious concerns' about the charity's 'governance and financial management'. Founded in 1984, it runs breeding sanctuaries for endangered animals as well as operating the Howletts and Port Lympne animal parks in Kent, which were set up by gambling club host and animal enthusiast John Aspinall. Carrie Johnson was appointed head of communications for the foundation in 2021. The same year, it emerged that the charity paid more than £150,000 to the wife of the chairman of the trustees for 'interior design services'. The Charity Commission's interim managers – appointed in May this year – will also review whether any trustees or their family members have received any benefit from the charity. A spokesperson for the regulator said: 'Our inquiry into The Aspinall Foundation is ongoing. 'Towards the end of last year, fresh issues of concern were identified requiring us to embark on a further phase of investigation and our investigators are working hard to pursue these at pace. 'The Commission has now appointed interim managers to The Aspinall Foundation who will work alongside the existing trustees on specific areas in line with the charity's governing document.' The foundation has been approached for comment.

NY cops on hunt for stolen horse as they worry it might break its diet — with deadly consequences
There's a horse thief on the loose. New York State police launched a search for a horse named Koda that was stolen from an upstate farm last week — and has 'special dietary restrictions' that could spell his demise if he's not found soon. ''Koda' is a neutered male, called a gelding,' troopers said in a press release Wednesday. 'He is a flea-bitten grey color, which means he is grey with flecks of red and has a darker muzzle. 3 State police said Koda the horse was stolen from a farm in the upstate town of Union on July 24 or 25. New York State Police 'Koda's owners are also concerned about him because he has special dietary restrictions.' The horse was plucked from an enclosure in the farm in the Endicott and Union area, police said. Koda has two brands that could help identify him — a Roman letter L that resembles an upside Y on the front left shoulder, and an arrow pointing upward with a line underneath on the rear left flank. Trumbull County judge charged with DUI and felony gun offense
GIRARD, Ohio (WKBN) — Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Ronald Rice was charged Monday with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, a first-degree misdemeanor and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, a fifth-degree felony, in connection with an incident on Friday. Read next: One of Mahoning County's leading farmers passes away The charges were filed in Girard Municipal Court by a trooper with the Southington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. A criminal complaint filed in the court said Rice, 69, had a loaded handgun in his possession when he was cited for DUI Friday evening following a one-vehicle crash on Scoville North Road in Vienna. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Mini Cooper driven by Rice was travelling south on Scoville North Road about 6:50 p.m. when it failed to round a curve, went off the right side of the road and rolled over. The vehicle hit two traffic signs and overturned in a ditch before coming to rest, according to the Patrol. Rice suffered minor injuries. A message was left with Rice.
