A SHOWJUMPER today accused an underage girl of faking messages about an alleged threesome he made her have with him and a horse rider. Cardiff Crown Court heard that in January 2024, he messaged fellow rider Jarvis to organise a threesome at her home - asking when he should "pop over". Simmonds then allegedly text the girl to inform her of the plan, telling her: "You will both do what daddy says." The girl told the court Simmonds got her and Jarvis to "do stuff" with each other before he had sex with both of them. Read more news He today claimed the girl had lied about the encounter and accused her of creating bogus WhatsApp conversations after he rejected her. Simmonds suggested to jurors she may have used a "pranking' app to create the messages or even messaged herself from another device while using his name. He added: 'I believe the messages to be fake.' Jurors heard previously Simmonds messaged Jarvis after the alleged threesome to say: "You both loved that haha". Most read in The Sun Jarvis then replied: "Yeah, you missed round two" with a wink emoji. They later hatched a "pact of silence" when they got wind that the girl was talking about the alleged threesome, the court heard. Simmonds text Jarvis, saying: "Hey, I have a feeling that [name of alleged victim] has said about us. "If anyone asks for sake of both of us nothing ever happened that night xx." Jarvis replied: "Hey, who's she told? Oh god has she really, what's she trying to do, make our lives hell? Of course I will xx." The messages also showed Simmonds messaged Jarvis before the encounter, saying: "I don't want to turn up at the same time that her mum drops her off." But he claimed today he only sent the text as he was "cheating" and knew the girl and her mum knew his partner. Simmonds also told the court the girl had previously made him and his partner feel 'uncomfortable' by using 'inappropriate' language about sex. He said: 'There were rumours that she was telling people that I had been trying it on with her. I was worried. 'The horse world is very small. I wanted to keep my reputation. She was a very volatile person.' Simmonds ran a riding school that offered "showjumping horse production and sales, coaching and schooling" in the village of Undy in Wales. He added the girl on Facebook and told her "thanks for accepting" before being told her age, it is said. The experienced showjumper would allegedly regularly take the girl into a horsebox to sexually abuse her while they were alone at the stables. Jurors heard that at one point, this was happening every couple of days when Simmonds' girlfriend was away. The alarm was raised when the girl told her dad what had allegedly happened and he alerted police. In her police interview, the girl said she felt she could not just walk away because she was scared Simmonds would "hurt me". She added: "I wasn't smiling and stuff when this was going on. If you looked at my face you could tell there was fear." The girl claimed there was one occasion where Simmonds took out his phone and allegedly began filming her. She told police he had a "little smirk on his face", the court heard. Simmonds later dumped his mobile in a bin at a Tesco just days before he was arrested for alleged sexual contact with a child. He denied he was attempting to destroy evidence - and claimed the phone was broken when he was quizzed by police. The court heard he also burned or threw away a mattress from his horse box where he is accused of repeatedly having sex with the victim. Simmonds told police he did not have any form of sexual contact with the victim. He also claimed any messages about a threesome were "banter and a wind up." Simmonds denies six counts of sexual activity with a child, while Jarvis has pleaded not guilty to one charge of sexual activity with a child. X loses High Court challenge against Online Safety Code
X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, has lost a High Court challenge against Coimisiún na Meán's Online Safety Code. The company had accused the Irish media regulator of "regulatory overreach" by imposing the rules, which require video-sharing platforms to protect users from harmful content. In a judgement today, Mr Justice Conleth Bradley said he did not agree that X was entitled to reliefs sought by way of judicial review. X had argued that the provisions of Part B of the Online Safety Code go further than what was required in transposing the EU Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD). Mr Justice Bradley found that the provisions of the code are within the authority of the AVMSD and the 2009 Act, and are entirely complementary to the EU's Digital Services Act and not in conflict with it. A spokesperson for Coimisiún na Meán said it welcomed the court's judgment and will study it in full before commenting further. In recent days, X introduced new age assurance measures in a bid to comply with the Irish Online Safety Code, as well as UK and EU regulations. Under provisions of the code that came into force on 21 July, video-sharing platforms that allow pornography must have effective age assurance measures. Last week, Coimisiún na Meán said it had not seen evidence of measures taken by X to comply with the code. It contacted the platform and asked for an explanation by last Friday. Coimisiún na Meán received a reply from X on Friday outlining the new measures which the regulator is now studying. In an online help centre post, X said it will take a multi-step approach to verification. This will include age assurance using existing signals, as well as age estimates using email addresses and social connections. X said it is also planning user-involved verification options which will include facial recognition and uploading IDs.

But she soon realised that his name was fake and it was all a ploy to hand over her money. Now three years on, the sextortion scammer is still hounding Susan for money. She says that within one month, the conversation turned sexual - after he started asking what her type was and what sex positions she liked. READ MORE REAL LIFE STORIES Susan - who is married to John, 40 - claims the man asked her to send nude photos, telling her if she didn't send them, he would leak their conversations. After she sent him a naked photo, Susan claims he started blackmailing her for money, and told her if she didn't send it, he would leak her intimate photos. Sextortion is a type of online blackmail in which criminals threaten to share sexual pictures, videos, or information about a person unless they pay money. Over three years, Susan says she sent the stranger £40 to £65 at a time - which added up to £11,200 in total. Susan, a former jewellery business owner, from Schaumburg, Chicago, Illinois , said: "I feel relieved that I've been able to speak to my family. "It is so hard to get out of the scam - they threaten you constantly. "Every time my phone rang, every time my husband got a text, I was worried that something was happening." In 2022, Susan was selling items online when she received a Facebook request from a man she didn't know. The mum-of-two accepted the friend request and soon received a message from him asking her how she was. She said: "It began with him asking how I was and he started saying my jewellery collection was beautiful. "Then he started asking sexual questions, he would ask what I like to do during sex, what partners I pick, and what I would like to do with him." Susan claims the stranger started asking her for sexual photos, which she refused to send at first, but insisted he threatened to leak their messages if she didn't. Out of fear of her family finding out, Susan continued to send money to the person who was bribing her. She said: "He said, 'unless you send me a picture, you can expect to see this on your Facebook page.' "He would ask me for sexual photos, and I sent them to him. Then he threatened that he would publish them unless I sent him money." Susan sent the first payment - which she says was for £40 - in November 2022. She says she would often send him small amounts, which he wasn't happy with. The torment got so bad that Susan had to close down her online business in December 2022. Susan said: "I sent him £40 in November just to keep him quiet and not leak our conversations. "He said he wanted £375 a month indefinitely. I said there was no way I could do that. "I bargained with him to make the amount smaller, but he kept asking for more. "I would send him 0 to £60 at a time, it was sporadic - sometimes I wouldn't pay, but he got threatening." In May 2025, he started messaging her again, but Susan stopped sending money and reported the case to the FBI to investigate. Susan said: "When he started texting me a few weeks ago, he said he was going to ruin me and I would have nothing to say about it. "The fact that he is still hounding me all these years later makes me think I won't be truly over with this until he is dead." Last month, Susan told her husband and family that she had been a victim of a scam. She said she feels "relieved" that her family know about it, as she would panic whenever her husband got a text or phone call, thinking it was from the scammer. Susan said: "I was really afraid to tell my family, but they have been so supportive, and been there for me "They told me to block him straight away. I can't let the torment carry on anymore. "It is so hard when they threaten you constantly, you just do what is asked because you're scared of the consequences." The FBI would not comment on the investigation. What to do if you fall victim to a sextortion Report it Contact your local police station. The police will take your case seriously, will deal with it in confidence and will not judge you for being in this situation. You should also report this to your internet service provider who will be able to preserve any evidence they have relating to the communications from the criminals and to the provider the recorded call was made on. Victim under 18 years of age should, in coordination with a trusted adult if possible, report the crime to the CEOP, a government team dedicated to helping victims of child exploitation and furthering online protection for minors, in addition to your local police station. Cut communications Don't communicate further with the criminals. Don't pay Many victims who have paid in the belief that the perpetrators will fulfil their promise of deleting the recordings, instead continue to receive more demands for higher amounts of money from the perpetrators. In some cases, even when the demands have been met the offenders will still go on to post the explicit videos. If you have already paid, check to see if the money has been collected. If it has, and if you are able, then make a note of where it was collected from. If it hasn't, then you can cancel the payment - and the sooner you do that the better. Preserve evidence Take screenshots of all your communication. Make a note of all details provided by the offenders, for example; the Zoom/Google Teams name (particularly the ID if possible), the Facebook URL; the Western Union or MoneyGram Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN); the virtual currency payment details; any photos/videos that were sent, etc. Importantly, do not delete any correspondence.
