Oregon Ducks announce new 'Under Construction' fall camp documentary series for 2025

Back in December of 2024, the Oregon Ducks announced themselves as one of the best teams in the Big Ten Conference, defeating the Penn State Nittany Lions in the conference championship game. A few months before that, though, they let everyone know that they were coming. How? By simply declaring themselves as "That Team Out West." With a fall camp documentary series, the Ducks went viral, stoking some flames in the conference with their videos of behind-the-scenes developments in the program and close looks at the players through fall camp, much like we see every year in the NFL with HBO's Hard Knocks. Oregon announced on Tuesday that it will be running it back, too, this time with a new theme. "2025 Fall Camp: Under Construction" is set to release online this coming Thursday, August 7. The trailer for the series delves into the construction taking place at the Oregon practice facilities this summer as the Ducks build their new 170,000-square-foot indoor practice facility. A year ago, it was notable Oregon alum Ty Burrell who narrated every episode for the Ducks. We will see who they got to do the job this time around, but if the 2024 series is any indication, Oregon fans should be excited for the product that the video team produces later this week and over the next month. Penn State receives highest preseason US LBM Coaches Poll ranking since 1999

A season of raised expectations saw the bar officially raised one more time this summer for the Penn State Nittany Lions. The preseason US LBM Coaches Poll was released on Monday, and Penn State is set to start the season ranked No. 3 in the nation. Penn State received 14 first-place votes in the preseason poll. Texas takes the top spot in the preseason coaches poll with 28 first-place votes. Defending national champion Ohio State received 20 first-place votes and is ranked second in the preseason poll. Other Big Ten teams ranked in the preseason coaches poll include Oregon (no. 7), Illinois (no. 12), Michigan (no. 14), and Indiana (no. 19). Penn State returns a loaded roster this season from a team that made a run to an appearance in the Big Ten championship game and the semifinal of the College Football Playoff. Penn State was one drive away from playing for the national championship, which means the program is looking to take care of some unfinished business in 2025. This is Penn State's highest preseason ranking in the coaches poll since starting off the 1999 season ranked no. 4 . Penn State dominated preseason no. 3 Arizona at home in the Pigskin Classic to back up that preseason ranking right out of the gates. Penn State started the 1997 season ranked no. 2 in the coaches poll behind Florida. The Nittany Lions started off no. 1 in the preseason AP Top 25 that same season. Penn State ended that 1997 season with a final record of 9-3 after seeing things fall apart quickly with a shocking loss at home to Minnesota. Penn State returns starting quarterback Drew Allar and arguably the best running back duo in the nation with Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen. Those three will play behind one of the best offensive lines James Franklin has had to work with, and the team adds key transfer additions with Trebor Pena, Kyron Hudson, and DeVonte Ross to address a need at wide receiver. The defense is highlighted by the offseason hire of defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, who is excited to work with defensive linemen like Zane Durant and Dani Dennis-Sutton. Penn State's secondary will be in stable hands with A.J. Harris and Zakee Wheatley looking to make big plays and create turnovers. The rise of Tony Rojas at linebacker will also keep Penn State's defense among the best in the Big Ten and the nation. Penn State's 2025 schedule gets started at home with a game against Nevada on Saturday, Aug. 30. Follow Kevin McGuire on Threads, Bluesky, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. Where Penn State ranks in CBS Sports writer's preseason ranking

The preseason US LBM Coaches Poll is out, and soon enough, the media poll, the AP Top 25, will be hitting the wire as well. The coaches poll fulfilled the offseason hype for Penn State by placing the Nittany Lions at no. 3 in the nation with 14 first-place votes cast in their favor. Penn State has been a trendy pick this offseason with a roster loaded and primed to take another step forward this fall. Adding fuel to the hype train is the first look at the ranking of every FBS team served up by CBS Sports. Chip Patterson of CBS Sports takes on the duty of ranking all 136 FBS programs throughout the season (USA TODAY Sports will have a similar ranking as well), and he is echoing the praise of so many for Penn State this offseason with his preseason rankings. Patterson ranks Penn State at no. 2 in his preseason ranking of every FBS program, with only the Texas Longhorns coming in ahead of Drew Allar, Nicholas Singleton, Zane Durant, and the rest of the Nittany Lions. Penn State is one spot ahead of Ohio State in this particular ranking, for whatever that is worth. Penn State finished the 2024 season ranked fifth in Patterson's ranking. Texas finished at no. 4 and Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Oregon all took the top three spots, respectively. Penn State's only losses in the 2024 season came against Ohio State (regular season), Oregon (Big Ten championship game), and Notre Dame (College Football Playoff semifinal in the Orange Bowl). In addition to Penn State and Ohio State, other Big Ten teams ranked in the top 15 by Patterson include Oregon (no. 7), Illinois (no. 13), and Michigan (no. 15).
